yeah cus while the event is also in a way a work event for the celebrities they really only have to "be on" for the carpet and for accepting awards. there are cameras around but they for the most part are just sitting at the tables and chatting and whatever. then you have a bunch of tiktokers running around taking selfies and making tiktoks because for them the entire event is w o r k making content of what they're doing is w o r k and now these a-listers are unfortunately props for these tiktokers content.

@@thecryingcryptidthe a-list celebs get paid enough so they can muster up the effort to be “on” and work the whole event. Otherwise they just go to peacock and it’s practically obsolete to us plebs. I don’t feel bad for them. The ratings are falling annually so if they want to stay relevant they will suck it up and let the influencers bring them media coverage. Ex: Billie snubs tiktokers and now more people are talking about people’s choice. The organizers know exactly what they’re doing and the celebs are just liable to stick their noses up and complain.

No being a bother, no making drama or a scene for a tiktok, keep fangirling/fanboying to a distance and don't be all up on celebrities as they are there to have fun and meet friends they might not see a lot of. I feel like Hall's response sums up exactly why I have the ick when it comes to influencers: the entitlement, and the hostile reactions if you have the audacity to criticize them. Billie was making an offhanded casual comment to a friend (like we all do) and a lot of people decided to take it personally, which if you did take that personally, that may say a lot more about you...
I don't know who half the newer influencers are, but it is clear People's Choice knew what would bring in views--it was inevitable. I have to agree with a lot of other commenters as well that what bothers a lot of celebrities at these events is the way influencers act like fans--I've seen a lot of clips of influencers rushing up to a celebrity to get a selfie or film a TikTok without reading the room. People are at an award show among their peers, they don't need someone running up and shoving a phone in their face.
I'd be kind of annoyed if I spent a decade building a career, struggling through the constant red tape of the industry, only to end up at the same show as someone who films a GRWM every few days. On the opposite hand, some influencers spend real time and effort into their content, and deserve the same recognition for that dedication as mainstream celebrities.

Movies stand the test of time and can deeply affect the viewer and even make sociopolitical change through art. And influencers make content that expires in a week that just sells crap that you dont need to make you feel better about yourself. Influencers are influencers who need to stay at their own function. these awards shows need to realize that the more these influencer invites get out of control the way the level of the event drops, and actual A list celebs will stop attending them if they lose their cache. they are treading a fine line rn and why would an oscar or grammy winner want to attend award shows with james charles and guys like that? the only ones invited should be influencers whose content revolves around movie/tv or music, who have something of value to offer, who can act respectfully and professionally and whatnot. some have really made that jump and deserve to be there. but so many are just absolute clowns and wannabes

I’d be annoyed too if I attended an event I worked hard to get nominated at and then have some random influencer shove their phone in my face. That’s not what these people signed up for.

Influencers worked less, they are lazier, have no talent, they are not honing a craft like being an artist, an actor, a musician, a comedian.
they attempt to sell their life and person as a brand, which is ridiculous and only works on impressionable kids.
honestly, what adult would watch influencers and admire them?
they just film their narcissistic lifestyle and kids look up to it, the end. not a celebrity, not a talent or hard worker

The most of the influencers care more about their audience n use the celebs as popularity gain.
All I see is influencers running from celebs to celebs to take photos n videos with them in order to post in TikTok, Instagram.
They could sit down and make a conversation with some celebs, make some new friends, etc.

*BUT to be fair, this is the People's choice awards show, they invited them. In this instance, it kind of makes sense. It's not like it's the Emmys or the Grammys or the Tony awards, that would be something completely different. But this to me makes sense, thus in the name, People's Choice. And at the end of the day, none of these awards really mean anything even including awards like Emmys and Grammy awards. Only to People that have accepted the awards and showcase them in their home,it means something.Other than that, I never understood the huge deal of award shows, especially when the majority of them already know who is going to win as everything is set up prior. People are truly focusing and complaining about the wrong things🤷🏼‍♀️*

It only makes sense to me if they're working in the categories included in the specific awards show. And if it's just a fashion event where celebs wear designer clothes, that's also fine. The only time it doesn't make sense is when theyre there for no reason, and they have nothing to do with those awards. On another note, classic media celebs seem to think they're some secluded special elite group. It's weird. If "lesser" celebs getting invited to events they attend bothers them, that's pretty sad. The only valid reason ive seen so far is the classic celebs being made to feel uncomfortable by the tiktokers fangirling over them and bothering them rather than treating them as colleagues at an event. Which is totally understandable. They're not there to meet fans, they're there to relax, maybe speak to others in the business, or even to make some professional connections.

The fact we have this much behind the scenes to the awards shows theres an issue. This is a private party that the public is only privy to the award part. The influencers documenting everything is disgusting. Especially of actual celebrities. Like show some class try to network instead of make money off actual famous ppl. Like recording their private conversations is weird.

I was thinking about this earlier. Honestly its the entitlement from the celebs that annoys me. Like yeh, you got famous for writing music,,, XYZ got famous for lying about makeup, now your on the same pedestal, sorry half your nepo friends cant make it I guess. Like, they wouldn't be invited if they weren't someone, no one is inviting me to the grammies. 'Real' Celebs should be happy that the people they are now rubbing shoulders with are still famous and not Dave from down the street.

I don’t blame Billie. What do celebrities like Billie have in common with these TikTokers? Other than having fans & paparazzi they can’t really relate to each others careers. Celebrities like Billie worked hard to be in the position they are in from what I’ve seen, these influencers have it way easier. They have more open door opportunities that many celebrities didn’t have the privilege of while starting their career. But I get it, it’s all about ratings and pulling in more views.

I think having tik tokers at this award show will bring down the status of it. Only reason why award shows was cool is because talented people were at the award shows not ANYBODY w/ a camera and high following on a social media platform can go... yeah I don't agree w/ it. Plus I understand tik towers "help" artists by dancing to there music giving it more attention. But the fans help by streaming it and I don't think fans should go to the award show neither. Tik tokers didn't sacrifice anything to get there, so I understand their frustration.
