Alternate title: how to drift in Sim Racing
I never knew why we need to keep some gas when steering, but now i finally know.
Engine brake acts like a handrbake and it makes sense
What?
No, only a sudden downshift at high rpm would act like a handbrake and unsettle the back of the car, its called shift locking and its a drift initiation technique.
Engine braking is something else, while still downshifting , but not like a handbrake
Engine braking causes a braking effect on the rear wheels, which can nudge the rear wheels over the edge of their traction limit and cause the rear to slide earlier/easier - like gently pulling the handbrake
Awesome! So simple but smart.
New to wheel effect in games
Just got the series x xbox then got a 4k visio at 60 htz
Just started using my new logitec g923
Used factory settings for a day then i learned used utube to set wheel feedback
Ive been humbled hard
Spinning is unbelievably hard to recover
Happens soo fast but im learning day 5 and ive started catching these slip outs and ive been wondering what i do to correct it and funny that’s exactly what ive been doing thanks for the support
Playing forza motorsport 8 at the moment
Replaying the career with different cars to understand the feel of wheel and spin rates and grip levels
What an experience
I wont go back to controller this is soo much more immersive
Very well explained and entertaining to watch mate. I like the way you talk, not as overly excited but straight to the point. Subbed!
Thanks man, cheers for the sub, returned the favour
Thanks a lot man! @@dannyleeracing
Excellent presentation. All youtube videos should be as good as this.
Great explainer video!
Although the technique described in video works, it does require more skill and finesse, better to dip clutch to help recover , its a common technique in Drift , plus Iracing tyre model its very poorly designed compared to some alternatives when it comes to driving on the hedge of grip …
here's a counter intuitive, yet even more effective way of saving the car : Turn into the slide. for whatever reason the tire model likes this a lot, and as soon as you do it, the car just stops rotating and comes back to you.
It’s not for some reason. When you turn into the slide you are causing understeer to the front tire which will cause the front to lose grip and changes the grip balance more towards the rear
Thanks Danny. *nervously gets into Porsche*
The Porsche absolutely loves the ol' tricklin' throttle
How about pushing the clutch instead of trickling the throttle? Maybe it's easier alternative since you don't have to think about the amount of pedal, just push the clutch all in, that also should avoid engine braking
very poggers thank you
remember it took YEARS for iracing to fix the FULL BRAKE AND FULL THROTTLE to recover from a spin?
There'll always be some way to cheese a sim, but for the rest of us with honour there are still ways to do it
It still works without ABS.
still kinda works in some cars, like the 296
My son has gained an interest in sim racing lately, and besides heal toe shifting, this is probably the hardest concept for him to grasp. He just cannot seem to keep his foot off the brake out of sheer panic.
It's a panic mechanism, so hard to untangle!
@@dannyleeracing, definitely so. It seems to be almost instinctual to brake in that scenario, however he's learning the hard way that that's the worst thing he can do.
what about hard braking at very late moment of spin ?
Can you do one on fwd for the tcr ppl? 😅
I sure can - it's not too difficult to rescue a FWD car, but the underlying lessons behind WHY it's so easy can unlock a lot of other understanding
@@dannyleeracing :D :D haha right now I use my "El Stompo" technique.
how do i spin on purpose ? 😂 i want to practice this catch
Great question boss
Its called trailbraking
Master that skill and you can initiate a drift or spin while entering corner using brakes not throttle
Then slowly dial it back so to maintain full control on edge of spin slip margin for fastest entry and exit making you the fastest on the next straight away
Late brake hard without sliding and maintain sweep with trailbraking add throttle and enjoy
Just dump the clutch
GEAR UP, trickle the power and contersteer
