  • Beating experienced drivers takes some special techniques. Here's one of my favourites for breaking my target's focus to create mistakes and opportunities.

    This is the best camera work I've ever seen in an iRacing video. Amazing content as always Danny. Keep it up!

      Thanks man, that's too generous. In fairness, most of the camera talent's over in Assetto Corsa as far as I can see!

    The obvious immediate version is Estre’s overtake in the 2nd lap of the 24hr Nurburgring race, absolutely gorgeous move

    I like it when you use the league footage for these videos Danny as I know everyone who appears in them.
    That is a good technique with a driver you know such as Karl in this video but it can be disastrous if used against some random person in an official race.
    I know what it's like when you fast guys are behind me under blue flags and I end up looking in the mirror rather than where I'm going. 😂
    Keep up the great work with the video.

    As always Danny what a brilliantly edited and explained video.
    This is so enjoyable when you get an opponent on the defensive and you get the move done. Sometimes you just have to try and put them off !

    I think the key is that he thought he was in the clear exiting the sequence. If he had defended immediately, there's no way you would have made the pass in the next chicane.
    But that's sort of the point. No technique is going to guarantee an overtake without a mistake from the front driver.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  Před rokem +1

      Definitely, with hindsight everyone can make perfect decisions on where to change to defensive lines or not and the fact we only have a split second window to make these decisions are what creates these chances.

    Good one. I use that move too. It is just confusing and distracting.
    I use another one that is very effective. I call it "bastard move", also known as bumper drafting. Yeah... as an overtake move. Why? Well, it as the same effect, is confusing and distracting and adds speed so dumb drivers will miss their braking point. Others will brake while you are bump drafting them... yeah, they are that stupid! It's fun for me and annoying for others but completely legit.

  • @bsmracing6592

    hmmmm nice but doesn't look like the "moves" and the overtake has any relation. he is not even overly defensive like some in iracing, good point but example can be better. 4:28 iracing has drivers who wont give that much room, they will ram you even if you are passing safely.

    You need to watch Nascar a bit more. Bump and run before the chicane would have been the correct move, because it also sends a message. I have no respect for people who block. If they think blocking is fair, then they should also feel the same way about a bump and run.

    • @stevenjohnson2682
      @stevenjohnson2682 Před rokem +2

      A defensive line is not a block. This is a textbook example of fantastic driving by both drivers.

      @@stevenjohnson2682 I'm assuming speaking from a guy who needs to use a "defensive line" to hold off a faster driver. And then wondering why the faster driver just punting you into a sand trap, or worse. Stick to virtual racing Steve, you'd never survive in the real world.

      Wtf are you even on about? Holding the inside isn't blocking its fucking defending. Unless you hit the brakes on the middle of the corner or you're a lapped car its how basic racing works lol. Dont want to be overtaken dont let the other driver have the inside? Do you even watch motorsports? Literally in every kind of racing that's how defending works. Go ahead and bump and run, you'll get hit with a nice penalty and lose triple the positions you would gain

    • @luckychopp402
      @luckychopp402 Před rokem

      @@RaffaCampos51 Blocking (defending) is a pu_ _y move made by drivers that aren't fast enough to stay ahead of another driver by just using skill alone. These pu_ _sies are more than welcome to block all they want. As long as they realize that all they're doing is just pissing off the faster driver behind them, and not be surprised when they find themselves on the receiving end of a trip to an off-road excursion at some point.
