I paid 1500 for my 47 inch 1080p LG back in 08, and that was as cheap as you could go for something that size at the time. If you think 1700 for this TV is unreasonable, you're definitely out of touch with reality. also, he's likely speaking to the average person, in their 30's with a career, or someone in their 20's without kids. I plan to get the Pimax 12k when it comes out and I'll see if that gets used more. But, I don't agree one is better than the other. The narrow fov and low resolution of all the other brands is inferior to 4k triple screen.
As far as stereoscopic vision in flight sims goes, stereoscopic vision only plays a big part in real life and in vr, up to 18' and then beyond that distance your brain uses size relativity and motion to judge distance the farther the object is away from a person. Basically, dimenishing returns the farther out. So, if your not in a dogfight, then VR isn't going to do much other than make the cockpit have depth.
For racing, it the depth does help some. But, most sim and real drivers us visual markers to fine tune their times. Actually, real drivers rely heavily on gforces to know what's happening to the car. I'd say forcefeedback and wide fov are more valuable than vr.
Don't get me wrong, I love VR enough to want to buy the Pimax 12k. But, I don't want to wear VR every time I play.

First was a 40" Toshiba @1080p I forget the model number, but it was like one step down from thier top model, same screen just less inputs, and less fancy cabinet. I used that one from like '08 or '09 until '17 (maybe '18) when I replaced it with a Samsung un49ks8500 (49.5in. 4k curved screen). At first I was unsure if I would like a curved screen, but man as a monitor is actually cool. Watching it from across the room, meh, but as a monitor on your desk, yeah the curve is nice.
For fast paced competitive pc games a tv isn't the best. You can and will still have fun but the response is a lil slower than a gaming monitor. But for RPG's like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc. the immersion is amazing.
I think a 60-65 inch 8k curved screen would be about perfect for a monitor. At desktop distance it would take up nearly all your primary (not peripheral) vision, and with that kind of pixel density the image would be nice and sharp...

@@KristianKumpula It isn't that bad. I've been using an LG OLED CX TV (2020 model) as my monitor for work, gaming and all other PC use as well as occasional TV/movie consumption for around two years now and there has been no burn in at all. I do have the TV's various burn-in protection methods enabled, and my PC cycles through random animated backgrounds set with wallpaper engine every 10 minutes or so, no icons on the desktop, the taskbar set to auto-hide and a blank screensaver set on inactivity and am not leaving all windows at work in the exact same place all the time, though, which probably played into it.
Since TVs are usually a lot cheaper than monitors with the same features and panels, it's a no-brainer to go with a TV like this instead of a "Monitor" nowadays, except perhaps if you are doing color sensitive work (although I'm hearing some of these TVs can allegedly be color-calibrated really well, too).

Now WebOS is in TVs and LG has quit making smartphones so its future is uncertain where phones are concerned. If LG plays the game well WebOS could be "the standard" IoT OS since there doesn't seem to be anyone doing that correctly.

Some of those classic old TV shows from the 60s were actually done on 35mm film. Mission Impossible and Star Trek's original series are two I know of for sure. All TV shows were shot on film until tape kinda became the default in the 80s and 90s, but even then a lot of shows were still shot on film. A lot of European TV shows were actually lost because some reused the tapes over and over again. I know that a lot of BBC shows, and single episodes are lost from that period because of this.
And you're totally right, a lot of these shows have been remastered in 1080p or in some cases in 4K, based on either the negatives, or in some cases film prints. I volunteer at a cinema, and we have old 16mm. Twilight Show prints from the 60s with ads included on the reels. These prints were used for broadcast back in the day.

For me, it's a pain in the butt because it automatically scales to 300%, which is way too big for my preference.
A really great program to pick up is CRU (Custom Resolution Utility, use Google for getting it and how to use it). It lets you tweak the display info and get rid of the 4096 × 2160 resolution that Windows sometimes tries to use.
More and more games are using DLSS or FSR, and if not, have their own built in scaling option, so if your GPU can't push 4K, you might be able to tweak it with that. And if not, 1080p scales evenly with 4K. Also, for a long time, TVs come with 'Game Mode' which drops latency a lot.

And it was also on sale, $1100 off which made it cheaper than the QNED one. With an alpha 9 processor instead of the alpha 7 this one has. Was going to buy a new monitor in a few months anyway, may as well get it now and save $1100 in the long run. All the 4k OLED monitors I see are $3,000+ and can't do half the things this TV can do.
So thank you. I never would have found this if not for your video. I'd have had to pay $1100 more for this later or buy a sub-par (or overpriced) TV/monitor.

Even attached two stereo speakers for a left and right surround sound and it worked fantastic! More recent, the last 7 years I've been using 4K OLED TVs and would never go back to an old monitor. Yeah, that's an important point. The software on TVs. With Android you have (at least) some flexibility. You can debloat it, side load apps, it gets regularly updated, or the apps... Even you can use apps for phones on the TV if you have to. Other brands, you depend on them updating all, even the apps. So, if Netflix doesn't update anymore there, for example, you are screwed with the "smart" capabilities. So yeah, the OS in your TV is a thing nowadays, or you need to rely on other hardware to extend the life of your TV.
