GPU prices were insane, then a friend sold me his GTX 1080 FE for $300.00 and I was happy again. Then a short time back he sold me his EVGA 2080ti for, $200.00. I'm not shopping for a GPU right now. Oh, I GAVE the GTX 1080 FE away, I never sell my old gear, I prefer not to deal with that. I still blame the people who paid stupid prices for GPUs for the stupid prices we see on GPUs now. They would be stupid not to raise prices after seeing so many willing to pay three times the normal price. A fair price is what the market will bear, boy did people not show it would bear a lot. People NEED to get over this "I have to have it" mentality and wait for more understandable pricing.

if you can afford it (and most young gamers can because they either have parents who spoil them or working citizens with maybe roommates), then there’s sales…. Clearly this massive price jump from the 3080 to the 4080 did not sit well with most people and so Nvidia will likely drop the price for the 50 series cards… similarly to how when the 30 series where introduced… MUCH CHEAPER AND BETTER THAN THE 20 SERIES!!!
Since Nvidia dropped the prices from the 20 to the 30, they essentially spoiled new and old gpu consumers alike with better pricing…. I believe Sony had this issue with their PS3 pricing debut and Microsoft with their XBOX One pricing Vs the ps4 … I don’t think any company ever really fixed (or could for that matter) this aside from having more sales and trade ins but that’s pretty much it…. Sony and Microsoft just priced their later Gen consoles better than last time
And long story short, expect nothing from Nvidia until the 50 series drop 🤣🥲

Hi Jay, I think you may be missing the used market dynamic that got disrupted with the 30 series. People got used to selling their old cards after a year, year and a half for 60% of its value (65% or more for high end cards) to put toward a new card. With the shortage, which caused the prices to skyrocket especially on used cards, people who would normally only be able to afford a decent used card, weren't able to help support those who wanted to subsidise their upgrade. This buried those who bought a new 30 series card, just like buying a new car when you haven't paid your old one down far enough. If you paid $1500 or $2000 for a 30 series card... are you going to be able to take the 40% hit (50 or 60% appears to be market, based on your video) to sell it and pay the same again.
Personally, I used to upgrade my GPU every 2 generations and my CPU every 4. I paid $700 for my MSI 1080 TI Seahawk AIO. I can't consciously spend the same or more on a used 30 series card without warranty in today's economic climate, even if I get $300 for my card (which I can't). I've put a much lesser amount of my money into RAM and fan upgrades and seen a pleasant change in my PC environment as a result. I'm buying older games and still enjoying my 10th gen CPU.
I think you might be surprised at how many people are actually doing this type of thing, instead of upgrading. I believe this has caused the stalling seen in the retail market more than people not wanting new cards. Yes, there are always people who will be able to shell out the money for expensive cards. I used to be one of them, but everyone has their limit of what they will pay.

FPS under DX11 have also improved in many games. In other DXVK can help getting more FPS out of the ARC.
Give the Arc til spring and it will be a great mainstream platform.

If you're doing a build and don't quite have enough for the graphics card you want, consider your time frame for saving enough money.
If it's not very long, consider Integrated graphics as the stop gap. They are not nearly as bad as people make it out to be, but you're playing on low settings for a while. This has the lowest cost to implement and will always available (bonus to people who do video as they should have this anyway).
Next up in the scale are the used cards, check around with your friend group for a card someone upgraded from. Then comes the B stock from manufacturers and returned stock in a local store.
Next comes the online places in this video. Any money you spend on an old product is unlikely to be resold in the future for enough to cover your time and frustration of the listing.

Typically for a " eBay refurbished " item it doesn't mean there was an issue it means that it was gone through by a seller who has proven to a great seller and trust worthy along with doing testing and cleaning the item up. As a trusted eBay refurbisher seller information like this " it's had an issue " is rather misleading and can be harmful to the sales of those of us who have to prove ourselves. I had to service the crap outta it before installing. This made it possible for me to save 50% on the Amazon price, and let me have the Panzer Max case, a spare M.2 and a bunch of nice fans and a USB-C unit for the front of the case (by a Blu-Ray drive). He gained a lot for the money. My wifes and my PC not that much. On my RTX 2060 i had to reduce couple of details, was a mix of Medium and High settings and depending on the games i play, i used to get around 60-180fps. I play at 1080p 144Hz. Now with the RTX 3070 i get the same result, except i can put a mix of High to Ultimate settings. Fact is, with all the image quality technologies of today, there is a barely noticeable difference between a mix of medium+high and high+ultra. So if you are playing at 1080p and are running an RTX 2060 or anything equivalent, there isn't much need for upgrading. The only real noticable gain i noticed was in 2 VR games.
