I visited another ABANDONED Resort. This time myself and jeffgrantMedia visited the UNITY HOUSE RESORT. Closed since 1989, this massive location has been rotting away to the elements. Come with us as we explore some of the buildings, the rooms, the movie theater and much more. Enjoy - Zábava
It's great to see videos like this, where time stands still. No graffiti or vandalism. Just mother nature claiming whats' hers.
Kevin Showers this was one of the best, untouched places i have visited. a true gem in the abandoned world.
Your videos are awesome with the vintage style film and sound effects, I thought when you plugged in the switchboard, that you made the phone off the hook give the signal to hang up lol. I was thinking of doing a paranormal investigation there.
I'm glad you enjoy them, i try to make my videos more than just an ordinary walk through like some others do. If you click on my playlists tab, i have one labeled ABANDONED REMAINS, it has all my abandoned videos starting with most recent. I also have interest in the paranormal world. Would be nice to see if anything is sticking around.
My mother and her parents stayed here in 1987 through a friend of my grandfather’s. They stayed in one of those cottages and saw a show in the theater and went paddle boating in the lake nearby. My mom said there were not many guests during their stay there which hints to me the hotel was already in decline at that time. Such a shame to see these places go.
Thanks for the upload !
Thanks so much for checking it out!
JP I can't believe how badly decayed the Poconos are now. My sister honeymooned there back in 1984. She said it was beautiful. She toured around all the various features that the Poconos offered back then. She said it was a beautiful place. I think it's always so sad when beauty goes into decay. But, as they say, nothing lasts forever. Thanks for another great explore, JP.
It was the place to be at one time. Sadly its a forgotten memory.
Love the old switchboard and the phone booths. I used to be a long distance operator back in the day and worked on a huge switchboard. Love it, too!
Holy crap was this cool. Its amazing no graffiti and vandalism this truly a time capsule. I love that old switch board, so many cool things just left behind.
Just natural decay. The way i like it.
My family and I spent most summers as a kid in the 80’s. My aunt was a member the Garments union. The hay rides around the lake were great. The camp and activities were always fun. The place was massive and always full of guests. I have great memories there with my cousins and will always cherish the time spent there. It’s sad to see it in this state but great to look and know what once was.
Thanks for sharing
love the before and after pictures
i think it added a nice touch
Went to the Unity House with my parents in the 50's, it was run by the ILGWU union. It was maintained like the major hotels in the Catskills and early Las Vegas. There were rustic cabins all around the property. The Theater had major production on Saturday nights with star performers.
Shame you didn't show anything about the waterfront buildings on the lake. Had many of my first kisses as a young teenager. Great memories
I stayed at the Unity House In the late 1980's for 3 days, for union school / conference . I was in my early 20's. Just want to say WOW!
I spent several summer vacations at Unity House with my folks. The white brick administration building was the "new" one, after the original one burned down. Great memories. I need to try to find some of my pictures from back in the 70s.
The switchboard at 2:50 reminds me of Lily Tomlin's comedy skit, Ernestine the Telephone Operator, on the tv show Martin & Rowan's Laugh-In. 🤣 That was funny stuff.
Beautiful video, the way it came on with the 70's music, the dance club with the retro feel and the environment, and the great amount of space that the resort offer wow. Looking back in time is amazing and the cool sound effects very awesome
Great video as always. I loved the bank of phone booths. Was always fascinated with the fancy ones in hotels when I was young
Just fascinating, so appreciate the before and after pics! What a huge place! So sad to see it crumbling away!
Nikki G glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching
Me and my family spent summer vacation at Unity House in 1974 when i was 10 years old. My father worked as a garment cutter for ILGWU. I have old photos form 1974 to prove i was there.
Unity House also had a lake where you could get in a rowboat and go around the lake. i have photos of this.
I'm addicted to your videos jp...

I love your videos so much. You are my fave youtuber for making abandoned videos. Im literally binge-watching your whole abandoned series as I fall asleep. Cant wait til the next notification.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoy them
I used to come here in my summers as a child, I remember it like yesterday. The mini golf and the theater gave me goosebumps.
Hard tto believe that much deterioration in 28 years. Must have been pretty sad shape in 1989.
Great touch with the After and Before photos. What was the veneered round thing on the floor? Makes me think of what’s going to happen to Watson Homestead in Coopers Plain, NY. Sad, oh so sad.
I had my senior prom here in 1987. So sad.
Well that's it for the abandoned resorts playlist. I really enjoyed watching these videos. Loved that you put old music, original photos and videos mixed in to show a contrast of it's heyday and it's abandonment. Don't be surprised if I re-watch them. 😄 Of course, I'm checking out your other videos too. Thanks for sharing!
Quit stalking me! lol jk. Btw, do you follow my fb page?
Love the old telephone booths in the lobby , the old orange chair from the advertisement....."housekeeping"...LOL. Enjoyed this tour ....keeps me looking for more JPVideos.
Glad you are watching and enjoying all my videos.
I love the special effects and old timey music you used. Made it feel like an older video. Thanks JP.
You bet!
I love your abandoned resort videos....also love the music you add. This place had to have been amazing in its heyday but now it's sad and creepy. This video was so neat!
Ty
Awesome video, I like it that this place is still untouched after 28 years.
Daniel28021991 amazing that its untouched, hard to find these days
8:22 *" 'Magic Organ, Polka Album'...they all knew how to party here."*
I'M DEAD! 😂😂😂
Haha, you're the first one to pick up on that.
JPVideos
How could anyone miss it?.. It's hilarious!!
Glad we have the same sense of humor. Some people lack common sense when it comes to sarcasm.
very sad this was a great place its always good places that wind especially nice places like this one great vid keep up the great jp
Thanks for checking it out
Awesome find!!! very rarely do you come across a building with just natural decay. I really liked the old movie film effect.
Thanks man, I always try to keep my videos creative.
Very groovy! Urbex! Love it!😊 Nice work!
groovy indeed
i'm just doing vlog and some how to videos. i'm learning some cool editing watching your videos. i'm impressed, your sound effects and music are all awesome. getting that research is so cool to have right then and there in your video... amazing. loved yet another jpvideo. you need more views for the quality you put out there.
JayLehman Vlogs thank you so much. i believe if you take your time and put in some effort, it will get rewarded. a lot of it is trial and error. glad you enjoy it
Music sure goes along with this one. Boy alot of history here. Switchboard is really cool. Awesome explore.
👍
I went here like 6 years ago with my buddy we got caught but it was so worth it what an amazing step black in time. I've also been to every other abandoned resort in the poconos. Considering I am a pocono hillbilly
There seems to be so much abandoned in the Poconos.
There is and i have more locations there to film.
@@JPVideos81 i will be waiting for those videos. I have some to watch today.
The toilet at 20:06 is a 1935-1952 “Standard” Compact. I’ve seen other classic fixtures on other posts where there were forward trap toilets.
Superb! Love the before and after photo's.
Thanks susanne
In the very beginning, the phone booth door you closed, I had just opened! And that was daring going up into the attic, one look at those steps and I was like..... NOPE!
Those steps were stronger than the floor in the house on Wednesdays video
Loved it. The music was great!’
Ty pam
What an awesome place! But why are old barber chairs the creepiest things ever?? LOL!
Haha
GREAT JOB JP AS USUAL....ANOTHER SAD ENDING TO A ONCE GREAT PLACE
Thanks mark
Wow what a huge place!! I can only imagine how expensive it was to operate such a massive property. Must of been a really nice place to stay. Great choice of music!
Thanks. Big is an understatement.
excellent video, no defacing the property by the explorers like penn hills resort. it looks untouched except by the elements. thank you for a very informative video.
Timothy Gordon glad you enjoyed it
Adore your transitions between the past & the present x
thank you
this place is MASSIVE!!!
Robbie Maynard video doesnt do it justice.
Wow, your video blew me away! What amazing things you found, standing still in time!! Absolutely amazing! I used to go to Unity house with my parents as a child in the 1960's. It was a wonderful wonderful place! I have photos from back then, it was clean and modern! I remember shuffleboard, folk dancing, swimming in the lake, great food, movies and live shows. I remember the Diego Rivera mural in the main building (this sadly burned down). I found the place again in the mid 90's when I was up in the Poconos with my husband and kids. We took alot of photos that day. There was one security guard, and he allowed us to walk around as long as we didn't go inside any buildings. Maybe one day someone will figure out what to do with this property. Thanks for making this wonderful video!!
I'm glad I was able to help bring back those memories, its a shame that so many place like this are just wasting away. I wish I was able to see how they looked when they were operational but documenting these places from the past puts a smile on my face.
I found a picture from Unity House circa 1960: goo.gl/photos/d82CPnqCdbVj2VNp7
They took down a handful of buildings on the south end of the property, To make room for the mount laurel Performing art Center. It opened in 2002 and closed in 2012.
Awesome place
😊
that was amazing! my eyes were THIS BIG!!
👀
Excellent fun video 👍🏼❤️
How come you dont reply to my responses? Lol
JPVideos I read them but just figure your so busy. You don’t need to be bothered.
@@Lalunabreeze i look forward to your comments.
Very good video! Love the old switchboard and the projectors and spotlights. Am so glad the spray paint idiots have left this one alone! My favorite explores are the abandoned resorts. Hope this one is still standing. As always love the before and after pics and the history.
Thanks cheri
This place is amazing,i have to go here no doubt!!
We got lucky with this one as a grounds keeper showed up and told us to leave. Lots of ground to cover. We didnt get to see everything there.
I was scoping it out on Google maps and seen a new building just behind it by the lake,i also saw some old trucks by the building south of the property, really cool spot.
the way you do those telephone sound effects, reminds of those horror movies where the dead whant to contact you.
It definitely adds a creepy feel to the video
cool video JP
thank you
Nice what they turned it into now
The phone making noise off of the hook and phone ringing are definitely eerie!
Movie magic effects
I wonder if this place is still accessible, I live pretty close and it would be interesting to check out
Great Video, are you going to do any of the other Resorts in the Poconos?
Jason DeGroodt i filmed the summit resort, if you click on my abandoned remains playlist you can find all my abandoned videos.
Jason DeGroodt Poconos Summit Resort video czcams.com/video/HwNIFXc4zPk/video.html
Where is the best place to park? I am not seeing any structures with google earth.
What kind of camera do you use? Looks great!
Misty Lavender i used a few camera's for this video. the main walking around is a Panasonic hc-v550. the rotating time lapse was a sony tx-30 and i used a Polaroid cube in parts of the movie theater.
7:28 ohh it's a Dover elevator
My uncle used to work at this place in the seventies.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can you help me with the location of this place? Thanks!
Is it still there bc I would like to go
JP HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE CAMPBELL IN IN ROSCOE NY? ?? JUST SEEN SOME GUY DID THIS FEW YEARS BACK.....THIS AND THE STEVENSVILLE IN SWAN LAKE WOULD BE GREAT EXPLORES
Never heard of Campbell, but swan lake is no longer abandoned. Its owned and operated by a Jewish organization.
Those movie projectors were from the 1940s. 🎥😮
Thanks for taking me on this adventure to Unity House Resort. It must have been an amazing place in "it's day". I wish I could have seen it then. I can't wait for your next video.
Looks like some of the buildings we're demolished
Fell thru the stage 2 yrs ago 😂
Great video! Wish sometimes people would have preserved the past better😥 Kept thinking "I carried a watermelon!" Lol
No graffiti.... wow
Suprising
Great video so far...but I have to say if I was the one who was exploring that location and an abandoned phone started ringing...I would say to hell with the rest and I wouldn't go back...that would scare the daylights out of me just saying
It didnt ring. I sometimes add it during editing.
It just scared me is all...I really enjoy all your videos and I have some abandoned and forgotten about houses here in Dozier and rosehill Alabama that are pretty cool...so if you are ever in the area and would like to check them out...just let me know and I will get addresses and send them to you and meet you out there
If you go here...watch out for the psychopath!🤮
Oh, we met him on our way out.
