  • Sitting along a busy section of road near Pocono Raceway sits an eye sore. Once a popular Motel for visitors, now is a dilapidated run down structure. Closed for the last several years, this place still shows how impressive it was back in the day. Complete with a full kitchen, cocktail lounge with dance floor, separate bar, dining area and outdoor pool. Come with me as we take a look at this Abandoned Poconos Motel. Enjoy
    Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own.

    The last I know the nightclub was reopened as "Club Roxy" in the summer of 2001 when the Wilkes Barre area was rampant with night clubs. Closed shortly after that.... I remember it being advertised as a short drive from Wilkes Barre.

    Once upon a time I bet this place was crazy on New Year's Eve ! I think you're right ...looks like a disco dance floor from the "70's.. Vandals are a class of people that I will never understand .. breaking and destroying property .why ? I know.!...they have "issues" and are angry , Blah,blah ,blah. They need to grow up and stop acting like 2 year olds. ! Thank you for another great tour , JPV

    JP,
    Just an added note or two. The tackie Brown wood trim was in many bars and clubs of the late 60's 70's, (. make believe barn effect. ). only to be followed by the colours Pink & Mauve ( still found in clubs and restaurants all over north Jersey today-- go figure?? ). One of the major reasons I recall most of the massive amount of abandondoment of most of the hotel, motel and massive tourist bailouts was largely due to the "Hopeful Promise " that entire area from the Catskills to the Poconos. Was waiting on the promise. Of legalized gambling. Unfortunately' as we all know, Atlantic City reaped the rewards ( as long as you don't walk past the casino area, and pack a gun! ) Sorry for legnthy update..

    This is what I found out Jay.
    The place had a 5 star rating and was put up for sale in 2007, due to serious septic issue -needs tremendous amount of work, is what was listed on LoopNet.
    The prices for the rooms were from $11. to $30. . The pictures I saw of the rooms were nice but looked like it was from the late 60's to early 70's.
    Stated there was an amusement park there as well as the raceway, & skiing.

    JP... Thinking about buying my first drone. Here's my dilemma, what's your advice? I'm between the mavic and the spark. My concern with the spark is that it's battery doesn't last long and the range, I live in a very rural area and would like to scope things out. My concern with the mavic is that I'm afraid that I wouldn't actually use it enough to justify the cost and wish later on that I hadn't spent so much. Also, try to decide between new and used, I'm thinking that dji care (since I've never flown before) would be worth it's cost and of course if I go used, I can't get care. Plus, zero warranty on a used one, so if it craps out by no fault of mine I'm screwed too. Tell me your thoughts. Btw, I always appreciate your interaction. You are one of the few guy who does actually reply to comments. Thanks!

    • @JPVideos81
      @JPVideos81  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey Andrew. For a first timer I'd pick the spark. I've been flying drones for a couple of years and they are an important part of filming on my channel. The Mavic is an amazing drone but even I can't justify spending over $1k for a drone unless I had my part 107 license and flew commercially for business. The Spark battery life is its downfall, but that's the only one really. You can buy a few Spark batteries for the price of a Mavic battery. It's really compact, takes great 1080p video, has all the great features from Dji. Mine can fly about a mile away if I have clear line of sight and no wifi interference. You would want the combo package which has the controller. I did a review video on my Spark. Check it out if you havent. You can also get a Dji Phantom pro which shoots 4k and goes about 3 miles but its a huge drone. So go with what you can afford and how often you will use it. I always buy new, can't trust a guys word on a used one and care program is a good idea. Hope that helps.

    • @andrewsellers6757
      @andrewsellers6757 Před 6 lety

      JPVideos thanks that helps a lot. Yes your spark review is one of the many that I've watched. Besides your review, there was only one other one that I really thought was genuine. These others, I can't really trust because I think they get a kick back. Or if they don't, I'm sure if they knock them too much, then they won't get future free drones. I do put some stock in user reviews, like Amazon or whatever, but that's not foolproof either because half the people don't know what they're doing and thereby do things to make the product not work like it should, which is no fault of the manufacturer. Then you have the 1 star reviews for defective products like, out of the box one motor didn't work, well.. Get over it.. It happens. So you get stuff like that, which kinda makes it hard to weed through and get to the truth.
      So thank you so much for your input, I really appreciate it very much. I just need a hobby and drones seem to interest me on the surface anyway. I used to be a gamer but I really can't do it anymore. I have health problems, besides being fat lol, that would prevent me from doing things in rough areas like the exploring that you do - I would break something and end up in the hospital or worse lol. So I was just thinking that I could get some cool footage around here, because so far, there's none locally that I've seen besides like maybe one other person around here. I think I could learn it and do decent with it and who knows maybe get a little bit of a second income out of it. I don't have Facebook so I will just email you.

    Love your videos and that you document these locations respectfully. Just can't understand why "people" feel the need to wreck these places and spray paint all over. It has to be some pathetic mental problem or permanent juvenile disfunctionalism. I guess if you can't explore and document these places soon after they close, you must accept they will be ruined by dumb-asses.
