  • As a lot of you know, the Poconos was famous for is luxurious resorts. At one time, you had to choice to stay at whatever type of resort you wanted. Some were strictly for romance, some were designed for honeymooners and others were for families. This resort was designed around golfers and people who like to be active. Opened since the 1930's, this large family resort offered all types of activities. There is very little in the way of documentation about this resort and i have on encountered 1-2 other videos from this location. So in my eyes, this is a rare gem as far as abandoned Poconos resorts goes. Enjoy
Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own.

I never imagined that there was so much waste in this country ....when people leave a place ( for whatever reason ) why can't they at least donate usable items to charity organizations (thrift shops etc. ) I'll never understand. ...Your films are an education in more ways than one , JP ....thank you for the tour .

Businesses shouldn’t be allowed to simply “abandon” buildings, etc...that they have no use for. If they can’t sell it, then they need to be held accountable for dismantling everything on the property and returning it to it’s natural state. To allow buildings to just sit there and decay is criminal. Someone eventually will get stuck with the bill to clean the area up. That’s usually the tax payers. Make the companies that made the big profits off their facilities clean them up when they’re no longer needed. Tax payers got nothing out of those properties when they were in business. So WHY SHOULD WE BE THE ONES FORCED TO PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE’S MESS?

It's a shame that family resorts like this are gone. Now no one can afford to go to a resort with their whole family. This must have been such a fun place back in the day. Great explore and video!

I stood last night and watched the flames turn this main building into a pile of ash. It was heartbreaking and now to find your video today makes me even sadder! For years I have driven past here wishing I had the money to turn it into something breathtaking once again. Thank you for the chance to see inside.

I vacationed at this resort for years in the 60's and 70's with my family and have such fond memories of it. Some of the best times of my life. Was heartbroken to see that the Main House burned to the ground in November. I understand that there is a lot of decay from non use over the years and some of it didn't look familiar because the Scott's must have renovated quite a bit after the 70's. Main house looked completely different and the gym was twice as big as it was in my day. What really pisses me off though is that it looks like there isn't a square INCH of this wonderful place that wasn't trashed by vandals and squatters. What a disgrace the human race can be.

I vacationed here with my family in the 60's and 70's, also some of the best times of my youth! Tobogganing in the winter, golfing and swimming in the summer; my parents retired here in one of the golf villas from 1989-2008. My dad was Bob Babb, a very active member of the men's MMGC and social life! He and my mom (Harriette) loved the place and all the people connected with it. Many of their friends retired here after having lived on Long Island in close proximity to each other. I brought my own daughter here on vacations (to visit my mom and dad), enjoyed the pool and all the exploring on the acreage. I can help you identify some of the areas the video takes you through, if you are interested. The strange shelves in the main entrance area held a collection of golf balls that members contributed with pride! We all loved this place...breaks my heart to see it in this condition. @@hollybabbbrown693 hi Holly. I agree, the best times of my youth were spent here. I recognize most of the video although my family stopped coming here before major changes were made. For instance, the main house was not as big or square like it looks. The gym was only 1/2 the size it is now. And there was no activity center out on the red golf course. Still, the best place to grow up. Broke my heart to see the main house destroyed by the fire. Hang on to the memories!

My grandparents lived here for over 35 years. In fact...that garage you referred to outside of 65 was built for my grandfather and his car. He had polio. I had to stop watching this as it was too painful. I spent much of my youth there and I can tell you that it was a wonderful place. If you'd liked to know more, please let me know.
Sadly, I came across your video because we found out this morning that the whole Main House burned to the ground last night.

Sharon Mores So why hasn’t YOUR FAMILY cleaned it up? Are you expecting someone else to pay for that? Your family...your mess, your bill to fix the area. If you’re not using the property, either clean it up or sell it. But don’t leave an eyesore for everyone else to have to endure.

As a child I remember taking a tour..all I can remember is that it was huge..The smell of mountain fresh air, chlorine and inside wood smells, pine and cedar .Your video brings back thise memories. So sad.The beautiful cedar closet,I think the roller rink roof and rafters look like knotty pine, and in the little office, the shelfs with green felt on them where room key holders. Its so sad to see such beauty go to waste, the sewing machine, piano s,they could have gone to charity,a children's hospital..It's terrible how people just don't care any more.No respect for the past, the beauty ,no respect for one another...thank you again, great video..

But it's obvious the place took hard work to maintain. Too bad about all the nice resources that got wasted.A lot of that could have been re-cycled if reclaimed sooner. The woodwork is one of those things we should always re-use. Too bad the ghost announcer didn't speak up. I was hoping. lol

I lived 2 minutes up the road from this place for 20 years. My sister worked there as a teenager. Place was beautiful. I even went swimming in the indoor poor. It was the window roof/wall like building on the left from the main building when you pull in. I remember having to slow down on the main road to get to the weis market because people would scoot through the road to the other side of the resort in golf carts. So many memories... I recall when that whole Eric Frien thing happened, the police combed that entire resort and woods that lead to my back yard. Such a sleepy little town with so much crazy stuff happening lol

My parents vacationed there in the mid 70's and moved to Mountain Manor full time in 1978. It was a great place with a friendly community and several golf courses. The Scott family owned it and when the first generation stepped down in 90's the slow slide began. The Inn and the old pool and gym look bad but I visited in 2020 and the rental homes disbursed around the old golf course are stil lived in but the golf course is overrun. My parnents and our family have great memories of the place and the people.

Even went back several times in the 80’s and 90’s with husband and kids and virtually nothing had changed at that point - it was like stepping back in time to a wonderful place with happy memories. Scenes from your video made me feel like I was back there again. So sad to see it abandoned and ruined. And then burned down. 😢

I really enjoyed this video! But seeing the 2 pianos and that sewing machine was hard for me. That sewing machine can still be used because the ones from that era will never break. That steamer trunk was also very cool. And that closet with the wood walls was most likely a cedar closet. If sanded lightly, the cedar fragrance will come back and your clothing will be protected from moths!

My family and I vacationed here every summer for 2 weeks from the time I was 7 till I turned 15 ! I am now 56 and the memories are still vivid . It was family friendly and safe as could be. We had breakfast in the dining hall and then dinner at night. All the food was cooked on premises. The same families would coordinate together every year so it was great to see them . Golf , tennis , pools , bonfires, softball games where the staff took on the vacationers! Bocci ball , talent shows , bingo , 100 yard closest to the pin contests. I’m tearing up as I write this. My Dad passed away when I was 15 and my mom and I went that year. We never returned as it was not the same. The Scott’s who owned it were like family to us all. I’ll never forget the place

This resort was closed down because it was too difficult to keep open. The Scott family loved this property and all their employees and customers over the years. It was purchased by Larry Simon of LTS builders. He immediately shut the doors, and didnt care what happened to the property once the township denied his permits to build houses on the property. He sold off all the furniture and everything he could and then left everything to fall apart. Please be assured the Scott family would never have left the property fall apart like this.

We held an annual 3 day weekend golf outing at Mountain Manor for 15 consecutive yrs beginning in the early 90s. This excellent video stirs both great memories from those weekends and sadness to see its current state. The sounds of that creek behind the main building, those bi-level cottages, dated furniture, pool and dining rooms could each be the foundation of a dozen funny stories for the group of us that participated every year. It would have been interesting if you had traveled about 1/2 mile further up that road to where they stored the golf carts and where the legendary starter for the golf course held her post. Her name was Berl and to a man, just the mention of her name will deliver a smile and a chuckle. Anyway, nice work on the video and hopes that MM will rise from the ashes some day soon.

@@JPVideos81 You're absolutely correct about other channels very rarely responding to viewers comments. I'm subscribed to many youtube channels and very few ever give a response, though I generally try not to ask a question or say something that seems to warrant a response from the channel. I realize that for most channels posting videos are mainly a hobby (I know there is some compensation) and if you have a large number of subscribers it would be impossible to answer every single one, so I never expect a response.

It’s like they started to do an inventory, and then had to get off the property. It’s a sad shame how everything got so wasted. Banks don’t care when they take property back. It’s just all about their money. Pretty despicable really!

I enjoy your videos for a lot of the same reasons other viewers have already mentioned but there is one thing that you do, that not all channels do, is you do the work to find out what you can about the history of the place you're exploring, be it a resort, a train line, amusement park or even some mines you've explored. That makes your videos much more interesting!

I worked at Mountain Manor in the 1990's for the Scott family. It was an amazing place to work. Some of the employees had been there since the 60's! I painted some of the rooms, worked as a social director (led folks through bingo, softball, bocce, etc), mowed, basically whatever they needed. It is sad to see what happened to this place.

I started going to Mountain Manor Golf Resort in the 70's with my parents. When my father retired they rented a cottage on the grounds for a couple of summers. Then they decided to rent a villa also on the grounds overlooking one of the golf courses year round. I have such fond memories of going there in the 70's with my parents and then taking my children to visit their grandparents. There were 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool, indoor ice skating, cross country skiing, barn fires in the summer, bingo and other types of family activities. They also had 5 nine hole golf courses. The main house served breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also had a club house which we use to go to for Easter dinner for many years and also had a surprise party for one of my dads birthdays there . In the early 2000's they added Thundercreek which was an arcade and had miniature golf, bumper cars and other things. My parents decided to leave after they found out the property was for sale . They would of like to have stayed but they noticed things were changing and not for the better. It was sad to watch this video with them. The resort was beautiful and well maintained for many years. What a shame

In the late 80's & 90's, we'd make the drive from Jersey once or twice a season for a golf day; it wasn't a spectacular course, but fun layout and reasonably priced. One of only two courses I've ever played that had a par 6 hole. The only real downside was rush-hour traffic through Marshall's Creek to get back to I-80 was miserable.
Too bad it's in ruins now.

Although this place closed in 2005, it's amazing to me they still had a lot of items left over way back in the day. Albums, boardgames, etc. I can imagine from all those papers how far back employee and guest records went back. That outdoor pool fascinated me. How it's filled in but part of the diving board and steps are still visible. And speaking of pool - the indoor pool - ick. It's so sad to see so many abandoned property, especially when there is so much homelessness. I wish property like this could be utilised and made habitable. Surely it costs the government more to leave these structures empty.
