on the polish wiki it says that to trigger the encounter "it is necessary to cross the bridge beforehand"
huh interesting!
@@xLetalis yeah so basically once you cross the bridge for the first time you just go away like 200 feet and meditate 7 days and the looters spawn
There also a Silver Sword that looks like its designed almost the same way, called Reach of the Dammed (I found it on a guarded treasure in Velen, north-east of the Boatmaker's Hut). I'm not sure if it's a random drop, but having them together looks pretty freaking awesome
Yes! That's what I remember. Have to cross the bridge
I think that it is, I think I did fiend the bandits after going to Skellige once (in my actual 2 playthrough i went to Skellige súper early, like level 7 jeje)
the mourner sword looks a lot like ones used by the wild hunt, especially the guard.
That was my first thought, too.
Kind of looks like eredins sword
It is the wild hunts sword. (I'm pretty sure 😅😅)
The 'Devine' steel sword looks a lot like Eredin's. Same cross guard
@@tylero1689 Exactly , Sauron 's famous cousin as I would say .
I really think the Witcher should have had an upgrade system for ALL weapons. There are some awesome looking weapons in the game that you’ll just never end up using.
yeah but that's only because most people are boring and do meta builds instead of just using whatever they want and not sucking at the game.

Batman:"WHERE'S THE TRIGGER?!?"
This is the first time I saw folks who recognise Geralt as a Witcher
Fr everyone sees the cat eyes and think nothing is off lol
There was another random event with thugs guarding a bridge and one of them recognized Geralt as a witcher. Letalis must have a video about it, there's no way he doesn't
Yes, that time with the thugs on the bridge is pretty funny too.
You dont pay too much attention then?
Right on The begining when Vesemir and Geralt enters a INN, some guards Go there and start Messing with them
He's got eyes like my kitty cat.
Maybe its just to me but that sword looks similar to Eredin's sword.
Definitely does. Guard and blade are similar to his
Same here. I thought it looked like a wild hunt sword cuz of the guard
I got it last month but never realised the look was rare😅
The 'Devine' steel sword is also really similar to Eredin's
The handle is basically identical but not the rest of it
Never encountered it, kinda looks like a sci-fi version of a Wild Hunt sword.
yep
This is one of three minor unmarked quests called Deadly crossing. You can always get them in every game, but I am not sure if they have to be done in order. The one you showed in the video is Group 2.
I think it is in order, because many times the event didn't trigger for some reason even though I knew where they would be.
if i remember right there's another encounter on the other side of the bridge where Bandits try to ask Geralt for a transit fee.
It may be another side quest but i found a side mission where they the bandits want to get tribute from you for crossing the bridge. After one of them notices the wolf amulet you can either tell them to run of and spare them if they don't come back or you can kill them. As far as i know there is nothing about selling a sword to you.
Yea, Deadly Crossing 3 is permanently missable because it spawns instantly upon completing Deadly Crossing 2, and it only lasts like 24 hours of in-game time. If you don't happen to run all the way across the map within 24 hours you miss it. That pissed me off pretty badly in my first game.
Ik I did it but I declined and killed them
This is one of the reasons why this game is a masterpiece, you could replay this title countless times but you will always find hidden weapons, scenes or events .... You could spend a whole life alone on this title without ever being bored, this game is a timeless masterpiece, without any doubt.
I love TW3 but this is a huge exaggeration. Play it for 2400+ hours and you will be sick and tired of it, and thats for true fans. Most would get sick after 240 hours
@@christopherwray4788 H O L D M Y B E E R...
@@christopherwray4788 You're right bro, obviously mine was an exaggeration, unfortunately no game has infinite contents ..... What I meant by this exaggeration is that tw3 is probably one of the titles with more contents and secrets in the gaming industry (along with rdr2) , that is, after years we still find secret quests and events. Obviously the game after many consecutive hours of play becomes boring, the combat system can become very repetitive, but it must be admitted that this game has a very high replayability.
@@jorgeelias3785Right! I've clocked over 3500 hours, 9 playthroughs and waiting for the next gen upgrade for my 10th... but I might not be able to wait that long. LOL
@@celticbabs3105 I've got "only" 600 hrs on my counter and I've been waiting for the next gen update since the release of CP77 to start my next adventure after some time off it must be really refreshing to again visit Toussaint and the rest of the Continent.
I remember getting this sword on my first playthrough back in 2015, i remembered buying it off the bandits and that it was absolutely busted for my characters level at the time. Ive never found it again ever since and I also have like 600 hours on the witcher in total. Nice surprise to see you covering this : )
I'd be glad to know how exactly to trigger this encounter :)
I encountered this quest only once before. Passed by that bridge alot of times in other playthroughts but didn't find them
I also got them on every playtrough but unfortunately I can't quite remember the trigger
I did encounter them someway mid story but he sold me a normaln redanian sword xd
They appear after you kill the nilfgaarfian deserters camp LVL 8, 14, 16 nearby that bridge.
I don't know when exactly they appear after killing them but that is the trigger I believe!
I triggered this after completing the game just roaming finishing stuff on the map
Even after grinding it for 7 years this game never ceases to amaze.
xletalis in 2026: new playable character in skellige
love ur videos man
I've only ever encountered them early on in Velen, before progressing much into Family Matters
The trigger is killing the nilfgaardian deserters camp near that bridge.
I just don't know how long does it trigger after clearing that camp.
not true i can confirm. When i encountered them Nilfgardians were in camp
Oh, I think so too, I killed that camp and went straight to that bridge, the looters were there.
Nope, these are not connected, all you need to do is cross bridge once before and that's all
I went over that bridge early in my playthrough and noped out of that camp and ran across the bridge and saw redenians cheering me on, thought that was weird like they thought i was going after the base. Then I came back later and the whole bridge was dead and got this event. I don't remember the story progress but I was doing a completionist run so it was early.
I always meet these guys . but I never bothered to check the sword , lol , mostly I always sell swords that I find or dismantle so I could make Witcher gear , most of them look the same and there is not much unique about them but this one is cool.
I always meet these guys too, and usually quite early in the game, when I desperately need some good steel! Which is so frustrating because the sword always has worse stats than the one I have on, and I'd really like to use it because it looks so badass! 😭
Huh, I ALWAYS got them to appear in my playthroughs. I didn't know it's not common.
they're not there on most of my saves :O
Same I'm pretty sure I got them to spawn in my play through as well and it is my only playthrough
Also, apologies if you have already covered this, but a sweet follow up to the "Devil in the Well" quest I found. You can find the ill/dying daughter (Mandy) playing afterwards (I was a few quests further in so might take a while) playing near their homestead and if interacted with she says "Mummy says you drove the ghost away, and we are never to speak ill of witchers again."
aw man that's cool
I love that you can still find new things YEARS into it. So happy for you
Oh I know these looters. I ran into them myself. I wasn’t very far in the game though, I was running around exploring the area. I hadn’t even seen Triss in Novigrad yet nor went to Skellige or met the Bloody Baron.
There’s apparently more looters like them so I looked up in the wiki to find where they all could be found.
If you approach them with your sword sheathed you can talk to them and buy a sword off them, afterwards you can kill them to get another one.
I used them quite a bit early on.
STILL finding stuff for us all 👏👍🏽
Although I have found this sword myself, it's still great to see content like this on here for us all. Keep up the great work good sir.
“Not taking a sword from a dead man”
Okay Geralt
Can't believe I've played the game for seven years now and I'm still learning about new content
I've found them back in 2016 and after that never again. Big thanks!!!
I always thought it was a dream
I remember I was riding through Velen still doing the Bloody Baron’s quests when I encountered these guys on the bridge. I hadn’t gone into the swamp to meet the children yet so I was still pretty early in the game.
I'm about halfway through Blood & Wine (my 1st playthrough of W3 ever) & I noticed some old mini quests have triggered again.
Also, I fell into a strange new situation in Crows Perch. Leaving the merchant near the bridge I overheard a villager mention they had to go inside because it was almost nightfall. Curious about it so I meditated til midnight. The guards were no longer posted at the signpost & when I went back into the village behind some houses I triggered a cutscene which led to a fight. Some of the baron's henchmen were "blowing of some steam" by violating a villager's daughter. Never experienced that one before
That “stay tuned” expression is a symbol 👌🏻
This was one of the first really unique swords, that i've found in TW3. i didn't even think of it as being missable at all.
Winds Howling 🐺
Looks wise, it pairs nicely with the silver sword equivalent: Sword of the Damned. I've done this before in other playthroughs and it's pretty dope.
Sword of the Damned = Stormbringer (stealer of souls to damnation, Elric also being "damned" by his dependency on it)
Mourner = Mournblade
This supports my Elric theory even further.
I'm probably a bit late with that question but where did you get the Sword of the damned? I know it exists and I know what the Wiki says where it is but it's not there actually and the wiki is shit so yeah... Do you remember where you got it?
You can find this event in three locations which is troll bridge, bridge north of lindenvel and the road of west dragonslayer,s grotto
It's a blessing every time you post
I remember encountering this when i first started witcher 3, no joke one of my first side quests in Velen, i also did the buying then killing and looting to get the sword twice. im surprised you haven't come across this as i thought everyone must have. I did this over a year ago just randomely finding these guys in the biginning of my playthrough but may have forgotten a bit how long i have been in Velen for before finding them but i do remember them popping up very early in my playthrough as one of the first things i've done.
I remember this encounter. Before the isle of mists as I was finishing up all the other expansions and everything before finishing the main game
I get this sword on every play through...since the beginning. It's cool that you just found it! I don't know exactly what the trigger but it can be triggered very early
Entertainingly enough I found these guys on my first playthrough, and multiple times across various files. I never thought it was all that interesting but I like the sword.
tomasz kołpak must be proud of himself
Missed these guys, thanks for video! I did find some at the other end of the bridge earlier in the game who harassed me for money; I declined and one recognized me as a witcher, warned the others and they all left.
i knew this already but thanks to upload again :D
A thing for a future episode would be, that in the land of a thousand fables, you can blow up three houses with each a pig in it using Aard. I think it reverences the European fable, "The three pigs" in which a wolf is basically blowing away the houses of three pigs. I like the detail, because Gerald is known as the white wolf, so...
Might be interesting
when you find all the secrets but even after 7 years there is still more
Have to admit had the scene several times and got the sword. But never took a detailed look at it. Will definitely do that on my next playthrough
It's called Mourner and has blue glowing runes, reminds me of frostmourne from WoW
So cool how everybody has a bit of a different experience of the game, I've gotten this encounter in all my playthroughs. I think it's just triggered the second time you cross the bridge.
Will make a fine addition to my wall
The model reminds me of some of the swords you could make in the Neverwinter Nights toolset back in the day.
WOW. I swear you've never surprised me more. This is so simple and yet I've never seen it once, neither in my playthroughs, nor in others' videos. Wow. 7 years, bro, how do you still do it?
glad to hear
I've never seen this sword or this quest. It looks amazing, another rare sword to put on display in my home.
I just wish there were more sword racks!
@@diyeana Just get the mod "Witchers Lair for Corvo Bianco". It adds plenty of sword racks, armour stands and picture hooks for paintings. It even has a weapon rack at the bottom of the stairs which is a cool spot to display the shovel.
@@alittlecreepywhenyou 😲 Thank you!!! I will have the most glorious home! Yen will have to leave her trunks out on the lawn!
On my playthrought as I remember once the game donwloaded them on the map, so when you are approaching them, wether you talk to them or not they won't be here a second time, so it's a unique-chance encounter. Like the random highwaymen on Skyrim.
you have to enter the bridge from the north AND i think it helps to be around midnight too (the opposite end of the bridge as the guys),
Finding new things in old games is so much fun!
I finally knew something before you X!
I actually got this sword sword on my first play through, whilst I was on the long journey to the famous city of Novigrad. And have been finding it ever since, always woefully below the stats of weapons I already have sadly. But I always keep it, because it's a relic and especially because it looks good at Corvo Bianco.
I am amazed that after so much time playing this game , there are still things l did not know.. thank you expanding my horizons playing this game, be safe , be well, join us in prayers for peace , please.
realized that I stumbled across this weird bridge in my “travels with Geralt” video. Dang gotta head back over there!
0:10 You NAILED this name. Very good Polish accent.
thanks :) I'm Bulgarian
woah never saw it either, it's definitely a cool looking sword, it's crazy they went through the trouble making it for just that encounter
got this about a week ago during the velen questline, had never seen it before
Here is some lore I made up for this sword just some fun thinking (not cannon at all just me being bored)
It looks like the person that had it wad a nilfguaardian soldier and it very much looks like a wild hunt sword so this is my little story
The wild hunt invaded a nilfguaardian village to enslave people as usual and a nilfguaardian highborn saw the death and destruction and saw the blade, after that he wanted to join the military to stop anything that would cause anything like it
Since he was a highborn he went to a blacksmith and gave him what he saw as the blade the blacksmith recreated it as best as he can and gave it to him
he joined the military and died fighting for the bridge.
This is a Witcher 2 sword. From its Dark Mode.
This may be the first time I saw something before you. i can now die happy.
I stumbled across this several times in my many playthroughs, didn't know it was so rare. I know you can get it as early as you arrive in Velen though.
Wow ! I did stumble upon them, in only one of my gameplays (before the end), and because i had fought some wolves just before, i already had my sword drawn, and thus they started to fight ! I had no idea there was a possible dialogue with them… 😓 and thus was never able to buy that sword…
I did stumble upon them and got the sword but didn't really put too much mind into it, didn't know it was a rare encounter :0 cool stuff!!
I was doing the bloody baron questline and was on my way to Oxenfurt to find Tamara when I encountered the looters
Just stumbled upon them last week. I have finished base game and the dlcs and was just finishing the remaining question marks. Didn't take the sword and now regret it. Damn
Oh I knew about this! Don't remember if I've encountered them in every playthrough, though, I had no idea that it was a rare encounter 😀
Evrery time i come back to this channel im amazed by how many people actually care about the witcher even 7 years after its time love the content bro ❤
I got that sword two days ago. I had passed that bridge before and saved the person in distress, and the guards were alive. When I passed again after finding the Bloody Baron's daughter, but not started the wife's part of the quest, nor any other main quest in Velen, the looters were there. So it was not very far into the main quest. I didn't buy the sword, and when I saw that I didn't get another chance to buy it, I killed them and looted it.
7th Anniversary....Wow.
Thanks for yet another cool Witcher video.
Missed this on my +400hour play-through, will definitely Fire up my Ps4 and go find this rare Relic beauty.
I wish it were Silver though, not steel.
By the way is it possible to get it as level 100?
Most of my Relics are level 98 but only after tediusly reloading the same save a million times or killing the same contract monster over and over like a thousand times.
Usually they are lvl 70-80, I hate that about Relic weapons.
Hey, xLetalis! Great video, as usual :D
I think I stumbled across a cool little detail in the Skellige Most Wanted quest that you might find it interesting ;)
When talking with the quest giver for the first time, you can discuss a price for the contract. In this case you can actually go all the way to the maximum sum, without getting the annoyance level, because he was a doppler all along!
Oh yes, there are a couple of cases like that, where the quest giver does not intend on paying you anyway. Olgierd's contract is another example
I’ve got that sword in 2 saves and never realized it looked like that
I found a misson talking about gold dragon.
I did found village Fyresdal in skellige.
I think it's the same dragon as Geralt Saved in TW2.
Sorry for my bad english.
im very surprised you didnt know about this, i find these guys every time
Encountered it after finishing all secondary quest in Novigrad and before the quest of finding boats to Skellige
Looks like one of the Two Handed Weapons in Gothic 1 and 2 , i think it must be the Nobel Twohander(Zweihänder)
Yes I've encountered them I think 2 or 3 times and bought the sword all 3 times but never thought it was rare sword
I can't believe it, I found something in my first game before the legendary Xletails!!!!!
I found these guys after finishing my first playthrough. The stats were crap but it reminded me of the wild hunt sword
I only encountered this recently on my 3rd playthrough - whilst on Novigrad quests iirc. So definetly some side quest that trigger it
I don't know why, but it instantly reminded me of Eredin's sword. Especially the hilt
Lol, something I knew before xletalis 🤙🏻
2022 and we're still getting TW3 content. Outstanding
wiki says its part of the kingslayer set available in dark mode in the witcher 2. There are other weapons with similar origin.
Wow, I have spent hundreds of hours playing this game and I had no idea about this. Gonna check it out for myself first chance I get!
Haha, I'm feeling lucky because I found it on my every play through. Btw, I love your witcher 3 videos. Keep it coming :o
Funny, i've played witcher 3 only one time in 2015 and another time in 2021 and i've met these looters on both runs, and even kept that cool sword for an eventual new game+
I didn't realize this encounter wasn't too common :)
I acquired this sword on all 3 of my play throughs so far. Did not end up using it on my third. Makes a nice wall hanger though.
Since I never use fast travel and ride Roach while vacuum cleaning the question marks, I never miss these random events, but I never looked closer to stuff I loot. Thank you Letalis! Can't wait for the Lodge cut dialogue :)
I would enjoy that much more if Roach controlled better
I remember encountering them on my first playthrough and it was before I even went to novigrad
I think I’ve encountered these guys as I was heading to Novigrad, after completing the Bloody Baron’s quests.
I have managed to get my hands on it kinda early on in a game before even going to the Novigrad, just wanted to cross the bridge and voilá, these guys showed up. Bought it and sold it moments later, lol.
Wow. I met them on my first playthrough. Altho I didn't bought the sword, because I had a ton in my backpack, with other things to sell. So I thought I don't need an another sword, I have enough spare ones. Damn, what did I just missed!
(Sorry if there are mistakes, English isn't my mother tongue.)
geralt refusing to use a dead man's sword is funniest shit ever
It reminds me of the bloodskal sword you find in the mine in solstheim In TESV Skyrim
Hello! I haven't played the game in quite a while but, from what I remember, if you go to that same bridge very early on the game there will be some guards who would not let you pass, or, would say the bridge is closed or something related to the war. And later you find them dead, I thought it was a consequence of the war, but I don't remember.
I remember they died after I did something and I felt a bit guilty about it, I would have to play the game again and see.
It is hard to remember each playthrough, but I remember that I encountered those pretty early, because I barely had enough crowns to buy it. Probably during the Baron quest line?? I also remember that when I watched one of those beginner guide videos (just for fun) one guy mentioned it and recommended getting it. Sadly I do not remember which video it was, since there are a good amount of those.
Brilliant stuff
you can find encounter also during the red barron storyline, i think its just random, i remember them, because i killed them for that sword and then never used it
