As a backer from 2016 I can say they are increasing the rate at which they introduce new features, implement tech, and new gameplay, but rather slow still. New backers should temper expectations as gameplay and features are still in flux. CIG is building the plane while flying it. I refuse to do any real grinding until most gameloops and flight models are fleshed out. Spend responsibly ppl!

"As a backer from 2016 I can say they are increasing the rate at which they introduce new features, implement tech, and new gameplay, but rather slow still." Its not that the rate is increasing its that most of the stuff that's been worked on for years is "nearly done". as pretty much everyone has experienced in 3.23 most of the stuff is still not entirely done, and the core tech making everything possible is still not in the game but they are still pushing for it. The reason why CIG was slow with features is simple, its becasue of us. Way back when they started increasing the population cap and the server performance nose dived most of the features were put on hold until more of the Server backend was finished becasue we the players wanted something that was minimally playable. Since that time the CPU performance we have and the bandwith have doubled and trippled allowing for gradual expansion even though the back end is still not finished.

I have alot of ships in the game and haven't really played it much. But I found if I just let them be and not check every 3 sec of changes I found I was more impressed,as the last time I was in was at the expo last year and ignored it for like 4-5months, and then all of a sudden I found out the next ui stuff came out. I was surprised on how much had come out. So I think people need to maybe let them be a bit and come back when there ready. Excitement is real but checking the clock everytime just increases your issues with them.

This is truth right here. I do the same thing. It's a waste of energy to suckle the faucet incessantly for every drop. Let the bucket fill for a while and you'll be far more satisfied. When you do that, it's remarkable how far the game has come in just five years.

    @JazerMedia Před 15 dny +122

The scam allegations are just silly with the consideration that they employ hundreds of people, provide builds to playtest, and continually show what's being worked on a weekly basis. People can fault many things surrounding SC, dates have been missed, but they've completely forgotten that CIG's developing two wildly ambitious games at once and that it's still a crowdfunding project. Accept the risks that come with that or just don't pledge any money because you're not pre-ordering a game. Also accept that development is slower because they have to ship builds of the game every year that have some semblance of being playable. People seem to think all studios have working versions of their game through development, but the truth is that most games spend a majority of their development time looking unrecognizable compared to the final product. It's not until the final year or two that bug fixing, optimization, or any polish at all becomes a thing.

    • @eewweeppkk
      @eewweeppkk Před 15 dny +9

I think scam is a bit of a harsh word to use for it, but I also don't think that people who want this game to happen should be happy with how its developed so far.
Pre-production for this game started 14 years ago, and it is in alpha. This is only possible BECAUSE it had so much crowdfunding support behind it - and it should be seen as a failure of the crowdfunding system. Too many people were promised shiny ambitious mechanics if they could just pledge that little bit more, without considering that some of those tasks would be enormously impractical or make development borderline impossible. There is a reason why most people aren't successful venture capitalists, and its because they don't know what products will see the light of day and what products sound too good to be true.
I wish star citizen the best, I found this video while searching up if star citizen was remotely enjoyable or playable currently because I have interest in it, but I also acknowledge that it only lives on through sunk-cost and the hope that one day the people supporting it might get a shadow of what they were promised 2 decades later.

It didn't make sense and wastes money to go back and rewrite code for a lot of the features when you will have to do it again for it to work with server meshing. In some cases, it did, if there were game breaking bugs where they couldn't get data to test from how players play the game. Basically, this is triage development. I think the hot take here is in the end when all is said and done SC is going to be just an "ok" game with a bunch of buttons you have to press to do anything.
I have been playing for a year now and committed myself to going another but I think I can see the writing on the wall....
I am a solo dolo so my perspective is yeah, I have a Carrack and was and a Reclaimer and will never get anything bigger than that. I have an SRV a Connie , Corsair and several fighters. So I have played around with the different style of ships and have reached the following conclusion.
All this game play loops they are promising are just going to be the same stuff in a different skin.
    Data smuggling/ is cargo hauling.
Sure maybe their will be some other mechanic like cooling of something which will probably just be irritating.
I find myself playing more and more Elite Dangerous again.
I think for the foreseeable future (and I am talking 5 to 10 more years) its just a better game on balance.
Sure, it has all kinds of problems and it's dated in some areas , hell I will give you every criticism you make BUT it has a sense of togetherness and vision SC simply doesn't have.
Secondly from the perspective of a solo player when I team up uts so much simpler to invite 3 friends pick our ship and activities and not have to worry about in detail repairing modules , hand loading cargo (that shit is insane) , shoot size 3 shields and not doing damage unless you are behind them lol (for a year)...
I guess I am saying yes Elite in some ways is a much simpler game but I have come to think that is a good thing. It's way more focused and it pretty much works.
10 years in and still 1 star system in a space game is nutty to me. In a space game the space itself is a major character and while it's very pretty it's so small.
Let's say they get Pyro this year ( we shall see lol) it's still going to be tiny in comparison to games like ED and X4.
Lastly the one thing I really liked WAS (as a solo player) the way combat "felt". The speed and maneuvering of the fighters . Now that shit feels horrible. MM is just bad in my opinion. I don't know how they managed it but it made go back to ED combat. To me it's now in the middle of master modes and the original 3.18 feel.
It's crazy and I never thought I would say ED has better space combat but at this point it does...
The on foot stuff in both games is not very good I'll say. ED I think actually works way better but feels "old" like a shooter from 10 years ago. SC is just broken lol but when it's work feels slightly better I guess. As it stands right now though the detail is simply and giant pain in the ass.
Why don't medpens go straight to you leg when your out of combat and open your inventory lol? Or why and when will a pre set come into the game that let's you pre assign basics? To me it just gets in the way.
ED really has alot of the same mechanics in it but it's all assigned to general menus you can use on the fly. Either you have a medpac or you don't, but it's right there ready to use...
Elite also has a fully fledged engineering system (while way to grindy) but it's there and offers alot of variation on ship and on foot builds.
Sure all this stuff will (supposedly) come to SC at some point in the future but I have to wonder by then if another game on much newer tech and way more focused on its ideas will emerge and dethrone SC before it even comes out...
I wanted to love SC way more than I do, I too was wowed by the way everything looked and the sounds etc etc.
But after a couple of months and to me the disaster that is master modes the game is looks like its going to turn out extremely average and overly complicated for no reason but to say it's "in the game".
I just forsee a future where you either play alone doing a variation of the same thing or have some ORG morons sweating you to play some boring azz role on their supper heavy Mongo crusher ship they spent 5,000 on lol.
Just not an exciting future to me lol.
Am I missing something? Or did I fall into the hype and the beer goggles wore off?

Its because of no real structure in house, different teams are working on different builds, the longer something has been in development the older the build its likely to of been developed on and when they merge their code they merge back in old bugs which then wastes time and money to fix those if they ever get fixed. It seems like they've hired some better talent to do the coding in recent times but the core of f'wits running the show is still the same.

I had to take massive breaks from the game (original 2012 backer here) because the content being added for huge swathes of time has been lackluster and the live service part of the game just is too unstable and frustrating for me to play consistently after I experience the "wow factor" of the game again.
For the entire duration of SC's live service game I always want quality-of-life improvements, new mission content, and focus on eliminating bugs that have been in the game FOREVER and there's always been the obnoxious "iT's aN aLpHa!!!!" crowd countering everyones' constructive feedback and they were partially right until now.
CIG needs to focus on making the live service game playable, functional, and enjoyable rather than dealing with the immense technological hurdles and the goddamn Squadron 42 albatross around its neck and then we can have a consistent and loyal playerbase that they can make money off of instead of having to do scammy FOMO marketing that looks HORRIBLE to people unfamiliar with the project.

While im not a long time player, ive played long enough to say its came through with leaps and bounds. many games have a long alpha time and none of them even compare to the magnitude of this one. We just had a major addition of the replication layer, and so far its working as expected.
Sure developmwnt isnt as fast as we like but it is progressing much fastwr than before.
Additionally, we just had probably the first stable invictus ive ever played, with only minor issues encountered.
I even invited a friend to the freefly and asked his opinion, and guess what while he agreed some things could use a little tweaking and bug fixing, in general the game is in a faily good place right now. MM killed the flying for me.. It feels very ARCADE now. Bicording is drastically reduced so you cant carry as much speed in turns. Going from 1200 scm to 200 instantly with a push of a button feels so cheesy. Dogfighting is easier now because the speed is so slow you don't need to use actual dogfighting maneuvers. just move left and right with the nose of the ship, first to lock on wins.
With this one patch CIG has managed to ruin the one thing that kept me playing all of 3.18, the flying. It used to feel close to DCS. Now we have something that more resembles No Mans Skys arcade flight style.
I personally think a 20 min mission teaching new players how to engage in a fight would of fixed jousting. All the players I fly with on a reg basis, engage in the typical fighting circle. Close quarter combat is easy if you know what you are doing.
Now I have over 3k in a space sim that lost the sim feel in the flight model.
Here is to hoping CIG continues listening to its players and finds a way to bring back that sim feeling...

@@DannyDelusion I'm one of those backers from a decade ago. If your investing money it's wise to do some homework on who your investing in.
Chris's vision and what he was forced to do in Freelancer were all you needed to look into to realise had he been given the time he would've created this vision years ago.
I'm tired of rushed jobs and half hearted games pushed out for money, no new tech, nothing to get excited about. I'd rather wait another 10 years if that's what it took for Chris to make his dream game. I'm confident it'll be far less than that but still. I bought into this project following the passion I saw in him and how much enthusiam he has for this and sticking a middle finger up to the big studios by going crowd funded in the first place. He's making *HIS* dream game. That's the pitch.
Originally we weren't going to have space to planet flight, you'd get close then get a cutscene.
I don't see anyone complaining about coneflares on the nose of their ships entering atmosphere and infact find this to be one of the biggest 'Oh Damn' moments people have when they realise the scale of this game.
The man is gonna cook whether you bitch or not. He's already stated they've hit a major inflection point in the last letter from the chairman so for the love of god.
      Let Him Cook.
      Me, me, me's and I want, I want, I want's...
Those people are investing in the wrong industry. I'd pity them but again, this whole process is a gamble and not looking into to any of this to be aware of it just seeing flash, shiny ships ''Oooo me want one'', followed by ''Finish the game already!''.
Yea, to to the moon with them.

    I remain anxiously patient.
Lets face it, we will never get that Ready Player One experience. No company will ever try, and the game community will never allow it.
CIG deserves some criticism for sure. Who doesn't?
But CIG is trying to do what no one else is bothering to try, and getting nothing but flak for it. If they pull this off, the engine and tech to build Ready Player One exists.
Hows Elite Dangerous doing with meeting all its promises made twelve years ago, in 2012. An established company, with an established engine and tech. How many times did they force players and friends to pay more for the promised expanded content.
    Define irony...
So many blame CIG for feature creep.
But the list of requests from the community just keeps growing.
Just be sure to add the dev time expected to create what one wants in the game.
    But hurry the hell up.
We didn't need the Ursa Medivac. But so many requested it, and they made it for us. Its a nice addition for sure.
But what ship didn't get built, because the team was working on that instead?
Even in this video he mentioned what he wants to see sooner rather than later.
    I have my requests.
    What are yours?
Every game always falling short of expectations. And always leaving players wishing and wanting more.
I'll have to wait for those who are willing to try and give me what I want. In fact way more than I paid for originally.
The money I invested was my choice. I was never forced to pay more.
And thank you, for all those who contributed any amount, to the funding of this project! Its not very often others have spent their income to make a dream of mine come true.
