Colby has just *SEVEN* fights the last eight years. Only W’s in FOUR years were against the ghost of Masvidal in 2022 and 2020 to Woodley who were a combined 78 years old. Between the two of them they were or a SEVEN fight losing streak.
You can even go back further If you look at his last 5 wins:
- 2017: Demian Maia (40 y.o. when he fought Colby)
- 2018: Rafael Dos Anjos (34 y.o. when he fought Colby)
- 2019: Robbie Lawler (37 y.o. when he fought Colby and was 1-2 in his last 3 fights)
- 2020: Tyrone Woodley (38 y.o. when he fought Colby, was 1-2 in his last 3, and he had just lost 10 rounds to Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns)
- 2022: Jorge Masvidal (38 y.o., 1-2 on his last 3 fights)
Of all these fights, only RDA is still fighting, and is ranked 14 at 155.
In 2019 he had so much potential, wasted it with inactivity

Yeah too much has been made of the fact that he didn’t lose too badly to Kamaru. That doesn’t mean much. You have to actually BEAT an elite guy in their prime, before you can argue that you’re elite yourself. Colby won’t even attempt to do that unless it’s in the context of a gifted title fight.
He’s a very solid fighter built to win decisions. No power and definitely not a submission specialist. Usman got the best out of him because he couldn’t implement hit typical formula. Nothing special just an opportunist that rode the wave of hype and played the game sitting on his ranking.

Tbh, this sounds like 1 of the most boring fights of all time. Colby's coming off of 2 snoozers, Ian's coming off 1 himself, outside the press conference does anyone really want to see this fight? Colby's best fights were against Usman, cuz Usman could keep it standing. Ian's not gonna push the pace, he's going to jab and leg kick at range, too scared to commit. Colby's gonna be petrified on the feet and too scared to shoot. Better matchup is Brady Colby. Brady can keep it standing, and Brady's stand-up is so bad Colby won't be afraid to engage like he was Leon.
