No amount of cope can ever help Colby recover from the fact that he literally had 18 MONTHS In total to get his shit together, to stay In good physical shape, make sure his cardio/stamina was on par, and that he could still wrestle at an elite level.
(plus per Chael, Colby had been training and In the gym before he was even called to be the backup for 286.).
And even when keeping In mind that full 9 MONTH preparation for this fight In mind, he got absolutely dominated for 25 minutes by Leon.
There's little to no excuses that either he or any new station can come up with their delusions grandeur, to justify how badly he got beat to the punch and how badly he laid an egg In his Hometown (In front of his own damn Idol).
Just because you train for 18 months, it doesn’t you are necessarily prepared for a fight. Lots of factors come into play, such as not fighting in front of a crowd, not fighting for a long time, as well as not getting hit like you would in a fight, in training you wear headgear, shin pads, bigger gloves and the contact is usually light to medium, compared to an actual fight where its full power. He broke his foot early in the fight as well, he even said x ray would come out to prove it, if it’s true, it could also play another factor in his performance. Even after all that, he still managed to win 5th round, even the 4th too. 3rd one can be arguable.

Whatever respect I had for him as a fighter was always colored by the fact that factually, he was always overrated. He was more tough than good. Yes, he was probably one of the better 170's at one point, but 2nd best? Based on what? There's a reason he sat out and cherry picked so much.

I just want to give you some feedback, it’s just my opinion and it’s from the place of me being someone watching your videos. Please don’t turn into Jesse on fire, he stops all his clips every 2 seconds and just talks and talks and talks and repeats himself over and over I can’t even watch him cause it takes 27 to 45 minutes to get a 3 minute point across. Also, I don't even watch MMA (I found out about this dude from a political vid), but I will definitely watch your videos going forward. I can't handle the outright violence of watching MMA live, but I can do the highlights and you seem to know what you're talking about
A lot of people think the only reason to like colby was to like the character or the politics but thats not the only reason, i was a fan because i admired that he was smaller, slower, and weaker then most of, if not all of, the guys at the top of his division, and really smaller then a lot of the guys the division down, but he still was able to fight hard against them, until this last performance. I also thought that his style was super ballsy because being a smaller grappler is a mega disadvantage and he was never the best striker at all, so he had to just fight in one dimension of him moving forward with huge volume and a willingness to take hits from someone that hits harder then he does, i found this to be admirable because to me it was symbolic of being smaller and not having the natural advantages or physical blessings but getting to the top through sheer grit and determination. Unfortunately those same things were missing from this last performance.

I thought this vid was the most accurate dissection of the Colby saga/fiasco that I've ever seen. Right until the end, that is. He said that Trump doesn't really like Colby because he walked out in the middle of his speech. In truth, he doesn't like Colby because he lost, which made Colby's post fight stumping while being booed just look sad. If Colby had won, Trump would have been standing there beaming and looking like a proud father in a way you've never seen him look at his own sons.
