Not much into UFC but I did see the last end of the Covington fight and he spent mostly on the canvas. After the fight I didnt expect him to acknowledge and said respect but instead he bored us with his love poem to Trump

Did Colby go too far? No. No rules in fight promotion other than don’t hurt your business partner to the point they can’t show up for the fight, which Leon almost did by tossing the bottle. Fighters are trying to cause each other literal permanent bodily and brain damage. Words are NOTHING if you support that.

Ariel is missing the biggest point. McGregor, and Rousey and Lesnar and even Jon Jones in his villain era, was can't miss in the octagon. Colby and Sean Strickland are probably two of the most dull fighters in the sport. The only intrigue they get is from the pressers and the fact that they have good cardio so in the later rounds they may still pose a threat. But they're point fighters. And that style of fighting doesn't match the persona that they build up. Jorge Masvidal & Nate Diaz were never champions. And both won more decisions than not. But they both were aggressive and exciting fighters. That's the problem. And that's why I see the UFC taking a real nosedive in interest bc the finishes aren't there. The motormouths are, but no one is backing up their trash talk with exciting fights.
Dana knows controversy creates cash which is why he lets these fighters get away with saying what they say even if it’s bad because it generates interest and therefor more money for the UFC
