Goalie interference has become as inconsistent as the ruling of what's a catch in football or what's a balk in baseball. No one knows anymore. Personally I think if you're in the crease and even touch the goalie, call interference, so it's consistent.

Its why high skill teams that are in the top of the league struggle in the playoffs. You still have to carry an enforcer in your back pocket if you want to succeed. Refs don't control the game in the playoffs, fists do.
You don’t need an enforcer and they are largely phased out. You need depth and to be able to play with physicality & grit. You also need your skill players to perform. You just can’t be top heavy on skill alone.
idk what kind of game it was but the refs at a game I went to a few months ago called someone for running into a guy who just stopped dead in his tracks instead of turning when he got to the wall. Some other guy knocked someone over injuring them enough to be out the entire game and nothing happened to the guy who hit him
I think the refs have to accommodate the players ramping up intensity in the playoffs. Honestly play could be stopped every 20 seconds for penalties in the playoffs. That doesn’t sell the game though.
