Yeah sucks. I was hoping his Leon performance was a on off…. That he needed to get his octagon rust off.. but clearly his head is not in this game anymore. Imo he’s only sticking around for the occasional interviews and clout he gets whenever his name trends for a day or two. But he’s not interested in fighting or “putting on big fights” anymore. He easily could of redeemed himself and regained fans changed the overall narrative around him - by simply taking the Ian fight.

The UFC should force Colby to fight Shavkat next - he built a career on ducking contenders, no more of this preferential treatment, He isn't more entertaining in the cage than Belal but the UFC still made Bully B fight contender after contender.

I’m a fan of Covington aswell. But unfortunately since his return he’s made it really hard to give af. From his dumb comment about Leon’s dad… to showing up and taking a paycheck after all the talk and hype. A lot of us were thinking Colby was motivated and focused as hell to win that belt. But it was obvious just to get some clout he never planned to win.

Colby is old. He’s 36. He might be a better fighter technically and all around than Garry and even Edward’s but he lacks the twitch/ speed that many younger fighters have. I get why he wants an older fighter - it’s more fair. Many BJJ promotions have divisions based on age brackets- that’s bc the old just cannot contend with the young. So while yes he is ducking Garry - it most likely bc he just doesn’t want to fight someone significantly younger. He wants anyone around his age bc at least he can handle the pace.

I think you are underestimating mvp in your take in general.. he didn't get much resistance, but he did look good in his debut fight... i think he's a better striker than garry. Fun fight.

Honestly Ian Colby probably would've been 1 of the most boring fights of all time. Colby's coming off a 25 minute staring competition against Leon and outside of the Usman fights has laid and prayed his entire career, and Garry is coming off a 15 minute staring competition himself. MVP Gary is a way better fight and MVP even has more ranked wins than Colby currently
