My youngest daughter wanted a tarantula and I said let's start with a jumping spider and see how that goes. I was scared of spiders my whole life but I was the only one taking care of the little jumper and ended up finding him adorable. He was my little buddy for 16 months and he passed naturally. I was so sad. I'll eventually get another one.
Awww, what a cute story. Now I want a lil spider pet too 😩 ❤🕷 Thank you for sharing!
When I was a kid, I got a pet tarantula because I figured it would get me over my fear of spiders. Didn't work. I was able to hold him, but I had to keep my arm fully extended and braced on the edge of his terrarium to keep it from shaking. Oddly enough, he did have one cute behavior - when I approached the glass, he'd come up to it to be closer to me. I feel bad that I could not overcome my fear. 😞
Be careful with tarantulas. If startled they can shoot their hairs into your eyes. This happened to a friend of mine--a spider lover--and it required surgery.
@@billorr1975 Oh, that's right. I forgot about that.
Awwwwww.... I relate to her! I started raising tarantulas as pets when I was 8, and I love doing it. I definitely want another spidey, although no pet stores around me sell them. I was so surprised how much my mom got attached to my multi-legged babies as well though, we call them "bugs" or "buggies" as a pet name because she started it! 🖤 thanks to her, I was never raised to hate spiders or snakes, and it exposed me to this unique world of these adorable lil critters 🕷️
As someone who owns 4 tarantula’s(Brazilian Black species) this movie actually utilized quite a bit of real spiders. There was definitely some CGI done near the end. But I was impressed and also somewhat terrified
I haven't seen a spider movie this intense since Arachnophobia. I loved it so much.
Everbody has been talking about this so thanks for the update that its on Shudder tomorrow!
I actually enjoyed the character development in the movie. We got so many spider scenes it was nice to actually care about all the characters I didn’t feel like it slowed down at any point because of it
my favourite ride at the carnival was called the tarantula - looking forward to tomorrow's release of the film
I've been wanting to watch this for awhile because I'm a spider girlie too. I had a tarantula in middle school which everyone was afraid of. Spiders are misunderstood creatures and shouldn't be feared. So as Emma said open your door and let them in. 😂
Spiders don't scare me per se, it's more like they startle me when one suddenly appears. But once the jump scare wears off, I like them. I always tell them "Listen, pal. You can live in my house but we gotta have some rules. If you bite my toddler or my dogs, it's squashing time. Stay out of the beds and off our bodies and we'll be cool." 😂
@@suzybearheart530 I've been startled by plenty myself. Hahaha
🕷️
Seeing this one in the theatre back in December was an insane experience. The soundtracks just hits different and the score makes the movie 10 times more effective!
ps: the spiders (the real-life sized ones) are actually all real!
I'm fascinated by spiders 🕷 ! Love Black Widows " They mate & they kill "
I have seen a number of your videos not only do you give a very good review you have the most amazing accent I've ever heard... I could just listen to your accent 24/7
Arachnophobia is my favorite spider movie. I am so happy we are getting a resurgence of these little critters in horror.
I saw this one under the original French title "Vermines", last year at Razor Reel Film Fest in Bruges, when the film was still in Post-production. I went into it pretty blind, just on the recommendation of one of the festival organizers, who selected this one for the festival and to me, it was the best horror film I saw that weekend. Which was saying something as "Birth/Rebirth" came close second and there were only two features I watched that weekend that were less my thing ("Eight Eyes" felt like a waste of potential but perhaps Vinegar Syndrome isn't just for me, and "Where the Devil Roams" felt like an extended videoclip for a metal band à la Avatar, more than a film). I did go so far as placing "Vermines" (or "Infested" if you want) in my Top 10 films of 2023. I loved REC and this spider-infested cousin to that, was really up my alley. So, for those who live in a country where Shudder is available (still no luck in Belgium), I highly recommend this one.
I love spiders too! I've kept jumping spiders and would really like a velvet spider next
I'm excited for this one
Thanks for the review, Emma. I will definitely check this film out. Spiders are the perfect monsters no matter their size. I will be curious to see how this film stacks up to "Arachnophobia" (1990) which I feel is the pinnacle of creepy spider films.
I have no quips. Awesome review and I can’t wait!
I'm French and I saw Vermines (or Infested as it's apparently known in English) in theater several months ago. I think it's my new favourite horror movies about spiders, alongside with Arachnophobia. This film was brilliantly made. It might even be in my top 10 French horror movies from the last decade. And you really caught the double-meaning and symbolism of spiders in the movie, used for social commentary and as a metaphor for discrimination. I'd also add I really liked the way spiders are treated in this movie, as victims who react to this new "hostile" environment they were brought in, and defend themselves against the potential threat humans are. It was quite well done and the dialogues of the characters around it were pretty well written. I also felt that watching in theater was a plus, cause the big screen really immerged me in this building and made the climax pretty intense.
As someone with extreme arachnophobia, I haven’t seen a spider movie since eight legged freaks. However I needed to see this because I’m a huge evil dead fan and Sam Raimis seal of approval on this made it a must watch for me.
I have to say I’ve never been so scared and uncomfortable during a movie. They played into the fear of spiders so incredibly well with how they move and even sometimes how they don’t move. Every close up shot of anything had me squirming thinking some legs were about to walk onto the screen.
The visual of spiders legs coming out of small holes and also when they pick up their front legs and stay still has always been nightmare fuel for me and this movie did both of those things horrifyingly well.
All this said I absolutely loved it and it was so fun to actually feel scared during a horror again.
Aaaah! So glad you reviewed this film.
Go watch it you guys! 🇫🇷
Can’t wait to tell my friend about this film as she’s petrified of spiders…and likes her horror…but she’s not as clued up on new release as she’s always busy at work…but I know she’ll appreciate this one…great review as always. 👌🎬🧡
I lost my acc & forgot about you some years ago. Really good to see u again 🙂
Spiders scare the living crap out of me, especially those giant huntsman spiders like you have in Australia. That’s why I may never get there. Wish that was a joke. The thing that freaks me out so much about them is that they move so fast.
For me it's the long legs. The number eight even makes me jump lol
Most spiders we have here are harmless. More people die from dog attacks, people just like to take one fact and twist it. I’ve never had an issue and I’ve lived here for 34 years.
@@spookyastronautsdeath isn't the reason I'm scared of them. It's just their appearance. Phobias make us see things differently.
@@spookyastronauts Oh, I know that - intellectually, anyway. But my lizard brain is not convinced! 🙂
We had huge banana spiders in our backyard in FL and they were nightmare inducing.
been waiting for this since it was aannounced! anyway, i love your reviews as always!
Can't wait to see what this director does with Evil Dead.
This one was quite intense so i do have a lot of hope in what he can provide towards the Evil Dead franchise. Hopefully he brings the gore like Alvarez did.
I was searching ratings of 'Sting' and 'Infested' to feel which was doing better. Now you've done both! 🎉 Thanks
Infested is much better, but sting has cool gore
Great review emma 😊
I just wanted to say that I watched Baby Reindeer at the request of our dear Emma. This is a show I never would have bothered with on my own. I LOVED it! Ate it up. Thanks so much, Emma! You really do provide an excellent service to us all.
Thanks for the review! I´ll look for this one when it's available here (no Shudder in Sweden 🙁).
😓😓😓
Awesome video, my friend. As a movie reviewer myself, I enjoy your style. 🙌🏻 keep up the great work, my friend.
P.S. I just subed 👍🏻
What is your favorite spider movie - "Arachnid," "Cobweb," "Enemy," "Infested," "Itsy Bitsy," or "Sting"?
There's also an episode of "The Night Gallery" that's creepy and spindly as hell.
I reviewed this on my channel and I gotta say that we’re far off but, fair enough if you liked it. To me this was Arguments The Movie. It seemed every scene they were arguing about non sense and there was no character to root for. Should have been more fun to me. I’d watch Sting Again over this one.
It is ironic that in a movie about giant spiders invading a building, the least believable thing is the behavior of the human characters.
Watch LOWLIFES in TUBI , is TUBI content , MY god was sooo good , looks like made for paid streaming services with shocking twist , Gore & bloody , LOVED it alots BUZZ about it every where
A lot of the character development felt like too little too late and because the action never lets up it often felt out of place. I would have been much more invested if they’d developed the characters earlier instead of on-the-go, but they probably wanted to keep the quick pace and shorter run length. The timers and motion sensor lights were such a cool touch.
I also love spiders, and I wish they weren't as feared as they are.
Chriosti, I have to come back to watch this again because I zoned out the first time. Definitely watching this tonight, looking forward to it. Watched The Fly last night for the first time since it came out so I feel I have to watch this for equal representation
I know you dont usually review documentaries but please do a furiosa review. Looks like its gonna be an Australian hood classic
I don’t think it’s a documentary haha
I cant even cope with the bits you showed in the beginning of the video (definitely not a spider girl) so i will have to miss this video, leaving a comment for engagement ❤
I really appreciate you stopping by! Thank you
I really liked the characters' relationship setup. The acting and dialogue were natural and fun allowing us to get to know everyone. It's important cause all of the main characters were likable and it made me root for them even more.
PS. I do have arachnophobia, some scenes were literally nightmare fuel!!
Your just amazing in all the ways
Thanks Emma ❤
Another one I can’t watch with my huge arachnophobia 😢
What a year.
❤
I rather enjoyed this one. maybe because I just love spider too and they were really well realised here, better than I thought they would be.
Great review as ever Emma . In your 9 and 10 out of 10 horror and thriller video from a few years ago , you said you'd rate The Thing at some point . Did you ever do that ? Love to know your opinion . Alongside Alien it's up there with my GOAT films . Keep those reviews coming please ! They're great .
Yeah of course I’ve had it on my wrap ups a couple of times
@@spookyastronauts Thanks Emma , i'll have a look . Excuse my memory loss.
Its like rec or quarantine with spiders 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I watched this movie after a hair cut and it was the most immersive thing, I felt in a 4DX theather, those little hairs that remain on the back felt like spider legs
I thought this was a very good, but not great, spider horror film. I know I got 'Attack the Block' vibes from the characters and settings and I believe the filmmakers were more interested in making the audience care about the characters, hence, the tonal changes in the film.
Weirdly enough, I’m terrified of almost every bug EXCEPT for spiders, mostly because they eat the bugs I’m scared of lol- but even that only depends on how big the spider is or if it jump scares me lol. In fiction it depends on how realistic it looks; Shelob for example doesn’t really scare me because she doesn’t look real, but the Hobbit spiders grossed me out 🤢 It’s all pretty situational so I’ll be avoiding this one in theaters for sure 😅 People are often surprised I’m so scared of bugs considering lll watch almost any other horror movie out there and be just fine, but phobias are weird man!
If this one’s good, I totally trust the director with an Evil Dead project. For context, the director of this movies set to make a new evil dead
Sweet! Like the 3rd one to the new installments?
Totally loved the movie, so far the first of best horror of the year!!! Thanx!!!
It's funny because while I hate spiders in the real world, I'm not freaked out by movie spiders for some reason - or giant video game spiders either, with rare exceptions of course. It sounds like a good movie, thought, and I'm hoping to check it out at some point!
Have you checked out The Hallow? I was pleasantly entertained with some solid cinematography, acting, and a few jump scares. Overall, a touch predictable and unoriginal but I didn’t feel like I wanted my time back.
Looking both 11 and 34
I watched it last night. I hate spiders but I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see what the director does with The Evil
Dead.
The movie was certainly different than even other killer spider movies I've seen in the past. It was creepy, moody, and certainly scary.
I feel like foreign movie in the us and Australia are Always on streaming and never in theaters
I'm hoping for "La Horde" fast pace horror in an apartment building.
It’s no surprise to me that you aren’t afraid of spiders because your home country 😂 great review!
I love spiders, no phobia of them, but this movie haunts me!
Hey Emma, will you be reviewing the movie tarot?
Yes!
So, you're saying if I have acute arachnophobia that this movie's spiders will scare the shit out of me? Lol
Watched it last night and while entertaining, it was very tame. It wasn’t horror in any way, unless you have arachnophobia.
I think it sounds interesting and id like to see it except I do have a fear of spiders and I know I will have spiders in my nightmares if I watch it lol
Im not there to watch Humans be humans, im here to get scared and goosebumps of The spiders
OF COURSE an AUSTRALIAN would see a spider and be like aww cute 🥰 lol
Saw you on Caspersight/Ben yesterday. Now subscribed. Thanks for the review.
Thank you!
I like freaky so I'll watch it
I love spider movies. Even if it's not perfect, it sounds like it's fun. :)
I have very bad arachnophobia so I definitely shouldn’t watch this. I’m a 41 year old man but the first time I saw a tarantula in person I started my period.
TMI but I’m actually on mine and this made me lol
Hi! I love some horror, but call me a wimp, if you must. I like spooky, but not a huge fan of excessive gore. What I refuse to watch b/c it's too upsetting for me is horror with torture scenes and horror with visual or audio described animal cruelty. I almost always know that if there is a pet in a horror movie, something bad is going to happen to it! Any suggestions on how I can weed out or find out prior to viewing, whether a horror flick will contain those types of scenes? Such a bummer for me that animal cruelty scenes are in so many horror movies.
Yes there’s a website doesthedogdie.com just check movies on their first !
New fan of you & your channel
Respected mam
Lots of love & support
I love spiders. I hate the “burn it down” type attitude. Spiders are important and beneficial creatures that have a right to live.
I hate spiders so I'm just listening to this review lol cuz I love you 😂
Who are these certain people your talking about
i really liked this movie!
Yay! So happy to see your review for this video. I just uploaded a video on the history of spider monster movies because I am obsessed with them. BUT my audience definitely doesn’t like them based on the views 😂 but as long as spookyastronauts loves spider movies, that’s all that matters!! 😁
Sounds good worth checking out. Thanks for the review
Filme muito bom . Recomendo .Como filme francês Top.
É pena fazerem tanta publicidade á NIKE.
I liked it but i feel like it could have been better 😅.
I hated Kaleb!!! I wanted him to die! Never have I ever been so pissed off by a main character before. Maybe, I wasn't paying enough attention to the movie, but I didn't get the animosity between the group and the cops towards the end, like the police are trying to contain the infestation and that one guy purposely charges the cop and crashes through the doorway, allowing the spiders free. WTF was the logic there?
7.5/10
I too like spiders, but if I lived in Australia I would be Hell Noo!
Hmm not sure why? Most spiders are harmless. I don’t have any issues with spiders and hardly interact with them
@@spookyastronauts Dunno Everything about Australia freaks me out. Snakes, crocodiles, spiders, jellyfishes, dropbears, kangaroos. For someone not from Australia I don't think its weird when you consider that growing up most of the things I heard about Australia is about various deadly critters that call it home.
@kuvrut7747 same 😂that also goes for Florida and the African Rainforest. Heck no to all of it! Well I'll got to FL for Disney World tho.
@@filmfangirls9163 I watched kids playing with king cobra in some Indian village. Denizens said that they keep cobras because they're killing rodents and other pest.
dropbears aren’t real 😂 it’s a joke made up because everyone is very ignorant about the country. Second no one has died from a spider bite in over 60 years in Australia. You’re more likely to get killed by a dog than a snake or spider. It’s a very safe country.
really good movie
Isn't there another Spider horror movie recently with a little girl?
Sting!
I’m so curious, I know you like/watch disturbing movies and I have been hearing a lot about the coffee table. Are you going to watch/review it? Love your content!
I watched the trailer it didn’t look for me.. Have you seen it? I’m not sure if it’s just fans of the creator wanting a review?
@@spookyastronauts no I haven’t seen it, some of the trigger warnings gave me pause! I’ve never seen anything by this director but I was curious if it is relatively good story along with disturbing or more just shock factor
@@spookyastronautsI saw it. Its....nothing compared to what you've seen and I've watched based on your videos and Spookyrice. Don't get me wrong it is a disturbing film for sure. But I've seen reviews say it's the worst they ever saw and I don't think those people have seen the stuff we have 😅
@@oliviareilly8969it's an okay story! Well acted. The atmosphere is tense and uncomfortable but sometimes funny??? And I wasn't sure why it was trying to be a dark comedy....
Really disappointing. Desert spiders aren't afraid of light.
Why would you think this movie would be straight forward Emma you just said it’s a metaphor movie those are never straight forward
They can be both, it depends if it explains it. But most films are metaphorical
Until a couple of weeks ago, i thought Sting and this were the same movie 🤡
Hey, just wanted to suggest a film. It is at times disturbing and was controversial at the time for a certain scene. I am talking about the late 70s movie " The Tin Drum ". You may have scene it already but, just thought I would mention it.
I kind of just want a basic horror movie to watch. I don't want nothing fancy or artsy. I hate those types of horror movies sometimes.
Not another metaphor movie 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄look I get it I do but I just want a horror movie good ole scary movie just trying to scare is that soooo much to ask for
Thanks girl for another great review think I’m gonna miss this one
I wish you had listened to what I said, it really isn’t a strong metaphor like I read
Nope, not watching this one, no siree
First like view comment

Pure garbage movie
