If you are wondering where my originality score is... well security pulled up to my car because I was filming by myself in the carpark after the cinema had closed. I actually did my scare score twice because I thought I had done my originality score. Either way... its 5/10 because it's not a particularly original concept but it had some really interesting moments. ENJOY!
😊not surprisingly
Sorry about that.
Did security scare you when they pulled up?
@@Horrorsavant_Jayme yes hahahah
@@spookyastronautsprobably thought it was Dan Stevens 😂
"From the guys who made Ready or Not" was really all the convincing I needed. Been avoiding trailers because they do seem to inevitably spill all the beans.
Rule of thumb: If a movie looks like one you want to see...never watch the mini-movie (oops, I mean 'trailer').
I made the mistake of watching another youtuber's review and within seconds he spoiled a major plot point of the movie, so I wanted to thank you for being (as far as I know) the only movie reviewer on youtube who makes sure not to spoil anything. Love the channel.
Hi,
So good to hear that you like it. And that you recommend it. What a great last few months for horror. We got The First Omen, Immaculate, Late Night With The Devil. Arcadian, and now Abigale. Yahoooo!
I know! It’s been great!
The house is a real one, just outside Dublin, Ireland
The primary complaint ive heard about this film is that they advertised this as a vampire flick so there was no uneasy feeling of the unknown because we knew and were waiting for the gloves to come off. Regardless this and the new Omen movie are my most anticipated watches of this year.
Yeah it’s just a marketing blunder tbh. That’s why I talk about it in the video, hoping people out there will hear our complaints
It's not that big of a deal to me. Seems strange that's a complaint considering we always know vampires are in vampire films.
Why would it matter if they advertised it as a vampire flick or not? Why do you need to be surprised about it being a vampire flick? I can name a hundred movies where you knew what it was about and it still was a good movie.
It also spoiled what happens to some of the characters-that was my main complaint.
More trailers like Barbarian, less trailers like Black Phone lol. Abigail definitely went the Black Phone route.
@@anonymous7434YES. That did not need to be spoiled.
According to Melissa Barrera, there’s no green screens. All practical effects.
Makes sense! That is a gorgeous house in Ireland and I think Ready or Not was practical effects as well!!
Wow, your excitement has made me even more excited than I already was for this one. Seeing it on Saturday for our 2 year anniversary, which we thought was fitting because we are both such big horror fans *Evil Dead Rise came out last year for our first anniversary). Hopefully great horror movies coming out this weekend every year will be a thing 😍
I watched the trailer once about a month ago, then never watched it again. Apart from the fact that she's a vampire, I went in completely blind and had forgotten everything else. Absolutely loved the film and will buy it on Blu-ray.
Really looking forward to this one.
Kathryn Newton is amazing, been a fan of her since her Supernatural days.
Same!! She's having a great year.
FUN FACT: Abigail is actually based on and a reimagining of the 1936 Universal Classic Monsters film Dracula's Daughter and Alisha Weir starred as Matilda Wormwood in the film remake/musical Matilda the Musical in 2022 where I first saw her brilliant performance.
The 1996 Matilda is a darn CLASSIC. But I heard the remake was good besides me not being a huge musical fan..
Thank you for such an amazing review! I will definitely tune in this weekend!
I actually hadn't seen a single trailer for this film until I watched The First Omen last weekend. Good thing I don't remember a whole lot about it. And I already was impressed with Kathryn Newton after watching Freaky. She's definitely got a future in horror. Hopefully I'll get out to see this one soon!
I’m onboard with everything Radio Silence does!!!
I am so looking forward to seeing this on Saturday. The last month has been one of the best stretches of great theatrical Horror that I've ever seen and it looks like this movie is going to keep the momentum going😊
I just want to thank you for cutting out spoilers. You're such a gem Emma!
Thank you!!!
Thank you for posting this! I’ve been really looking forward to it!
Always appreciate your reviews and ratings. Looking forward to seeing this tomorrow even with the vampire reveal from the trailers.
Cool. I didn't even know that this existed until this morning. Had no idea it was the guys behind the recent Screams. Will defo try to get to see it in the cinema now.
I'm so looking forward to this one. Thanks for the review, Em!!
Thanks for the review, Emma. I will be checking out the film this weekend.
I am really excited to see this in the cinema & this review definitely raised my expectations. Can't wait ! 👻
Gotta say, Dan Stevens in the third act reminded me of 90s Jeff Fahey, in a good way. Melissa Barrera and Kathryn Newton sharing the screen was just as fun as I'd hoped. I personally had a ball with this one, and as far as Radio Silence goes, this for me was another winner.
Will definetely be checking this out now thanks to you! I trust your opinions the most on YT. Thank you as always beautiful 🥰
we are so back!!
Love your baby bangs!! Can’t wait to see this one tonight 😄
I'm going to go see this next week with some friends. Looking forward to it!
Looking forward to this one - sounds like my kind of movie!! Hopefully it gets a quick digital release because I can't get to the theater right now.
My daughter is an Abigail so I owe it to her to see it 😅
Hahaha omg
Just got out of a double feature with Challengers. A very fun night indeed! Kinda wish I could have avoided the trailers but they were everywhere! Ah well, still good fun. Can’t. Even. Dan. Stevens.
Ooooh really excited to see this now!
Delighted to hear it’s nice and gnarly!
I loved it, but that trailer really did take away almost any tension for me lol.
A lot of people are complaining that the trailer showed that she’s a vampire, but I’m barely seeing anyone complain that the trailer literally showed the outcomes of some of the main characters, without saying too much.
Right?! The vampire thing is eh and honestly I'm fine with that. But why would they reveal THAT part in the trailer?!
i'm so happy u loved it!!!!! i'll be seeing this tom also here in the Philippines!
Love the bangs Aussie!
Can't wait! Going on Friday.
I’ll definitely try and check this one out. Looks good.
Going tomorrow. Can't wait for this one ❤
Sounds like it's a lot of fun! Can't wait!
Can’t wait to see it this weekend. By seeing the trailers looks legit.
Emma, my ex-gf and I went to see Immaculate, Late Night With the Devil, The First Omen, culminating with Abigail over the past month. All at the cinema. The big screen experience is still something else and we are glad about that. The First Omen has been our favourite so far. Thanks for leading the way in the horror movie experience 😀
I'm so ready for this, watching it tomorrow!
Honestly, this movie wasn't on my radar UNTIL the second trailer, which I thought was awesome. So yeah, it's a shame they gave the plot away, but I think it's the right choice to get people into the theater. Thank you for the review - we'll have to check it out....stay Spooky!
I've been dying to see this since i found out about it. Despite the trailer pretty much giving most everything away, i still really want to watch it.
As someone who watches the trailer that spoiled quiet a big, I still had a great time!!
GONNA WATCH IT RN
I watched this one at the cinema yesterday. Sadly it was pretty dead so it didn't feel like a shared experience. I enjoyed the film however.
I feel like every time I go to the cinema it gets more empty. Maybe this is cause of streaming and people would rather pay for subscriptions than cinema tickets.
Look at Kathryn Newton go! First Lisa Frankenstein and now Abigail! I really loved her as Clare Novak in Supernatural 10 (or so) years ago. I’ll definitely give it a watch, thanks for another great spoiler free review, you are so good at this ❤
I'm so happy for her!! And can't wait to watch more of her films!!
I remember thinking she looked familiar in the last Antman movie but I had forgotten she was in Supernatural.
What song is used during the puppet Sammy scene when she’s dancing?!
😊great review emma
This sounds so good. Can't wait to see it!
I saw Abigail at the cinema last night. It was so much fun! Thanks for the recommendation!
I don't know if I'll get a chance to see this in theaters, but I'll probably rent it on demand.
lfggg! i'm glad this movie has good reviews! my girl melissa still making waves with horror & she truly deserves it
I wish the ending is kind of longer on the story line , but it's a nice closure.
I saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. And yes, there are several twists that the trailer didn’t reveal.
At a glance, when I saw 5/10 (for originality), I was worried, because I want this film to succeed, because it’s been a really great run of horror films of late! And then your review made me happy, because it seems like you had a great time! Super cool. I get why you gave it a 5/10 for originality. I can handle that if the film is really good!! Yay! And “Late Night with the Devil” comes out today on Shudder! I saw it 3 times at the theater!😳 so it’s going to be a fun movie weekend all the way around!!
Just watched it this weekend. I am glad that I didn't watch trailers or anything else about this movie. I went in blind and I lied it very much. I had a lot of fun! A great mix of funny, smart and existing.
Finally a Dan Stevens movie you liked!!! (I had to I'm so sorry jkjkjk) but honestly I'm so excited for this film. My friend and I are seeing it Tuesday!!! I've already heard great things, but I couldn't wait to hear your thoughts ❤
Edit: just saw the movie and you were so right!! That was a lot of fun. I took a friend who didn't watch the trailer so she got a good surprise!!!
Had zero intentions of seeing this but you totally sold me.
I’ve never personally been into vampire movies but I might have to check this out
Lady Emma and her adventures.
Looking forward to it. I loved Ready or Not!
Can’t freakin wait Melissa Barrera is my queen
I always HATE when they add comedy/action to a horror movie. I find it so darn immature
Every time I hear “vampire” I immediately check out (with the exception of 30 Days of Night… brilliant!) but you and I share very similar taste and if you like it, I’m in!
the dan stevens comments are hilarious after your story the last couple days lmaoo
He’d been on my mind knowing he would be in this 👀
I really wanna know why she dislikes him so much 😂she even snubbed him when praising the performances in this film 😂it cracks me up so much and I just really wanna know the story behind it.
I'll probably be seeing it tomorrow.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to see this movie because the trailer reveals so much but now I think I will.
Speaking of trailers that show too much, the Speak No Evil remake trailer says way too much. As someone who saw the original I was in shock, viewers who have not seen the original be warned, do not watch this trailer if you have been waiting for the remake.
Just saw this last night. Surprisingly liked it
Yes I'm pumped
Everyone did great and I was really engaged throughout the whole movie. I wish we could have spent slightly more time with these characters but it’s not a critique just a minor quibble. Lol
Somehow Ive never seen ready or not either. I guess its movie night tonight.
I'll be honest, I wasn't excited for this at all based on the trailer - it just seemed so ridiculous and silly. But I'm pleasantly surprised by the reviews I've seen coming out, and especially after hearing you talk about it! I might actually go check this out in the cinema now :)
Forget the trailers... have you seen the logo?
I enjoyed you punching your hands. How do I explain it without spoiling it? This is on my list...
Emma. I love your bangs. Very Bettie Page. I wish the trailer didn't give so much away. I may still go to the theater to see it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Emma! I really wanted to like this movie but seeing the trailer spoiled pretty much all the fun for me. I guess I also missed the depth that you speak of. I didn't find the mystery particularly exciting. I think the actors certainly did a good job, but the characters were paperthin in my opinion. They tried to add a little personal story in there with Joey but that also didn't land for me. I really enjoy the vampire genre but this one just didn't scratch my itch.
What is the music at 2:06??
Danger snow!
@@Sam_foster omg thank you!
Is it gorier than Evil Dead Rise? Someone I know wants to come see this with me in two days and is a bit nervous as he cant handle anything past the level of Evil Dead Rise in terms of gore and blood
Honestly I thought it was just as gory? But much funnier lol
Your'e a Perth girl! Awesome :D
I’ve gone to see this three times with different friends now. Movie is just dumb fun and a good time.
This message for movie lovers
I forgot name of movie I watched, exactly like this movie and don't give name of house of willow street. I already know that movie.
The difference between this movie and that I watched.

Key point of abigail:
1.Child
2. Vampire
3. kidnappers
4. Trapped in house
5. Survival
I hope this all from trailer without spoilers ( from my pov)
Key point of that I watched but forgot name.
1. women ( not a child)
2. Vampire?
3. Turns into granny
4. Kidnappers
5. Trapped in to house.
6. Babies in the room
7. Woman Trapped them take one male for breeding purposes
8. Survival
9. Door only open when it's morning
10. Place trap to kill her but failed
11. All kidnappers dies
12. Movie ended with another man her victim list.
I searched but I couldn't find it. And asked (bing co- pilot). It didn't give answer that what I looking for.
I worried about they will erase.
Some of the details aren't the same but are you maybe thinking of Livid (2011)?
@@lavender3717 1st thanks for reply, 2nd this is not movie what i am looking. 3rd livid trailer looks good 4th iam not saying that this is better than abigail. But what I saying is almost same plot but different cast. Door are locked by remotely not spiritually. Now 5th it's may be tv movie and also sorry for english for what i am posting about story down below. This what remember remember.
Group of people whether they are kidnappers or criminals. females are included in the group. they went house found woman, she just came out from bath to bedroom. she takes medication. the group found her and take hostage. its getting evening. after getting dark door are locked. soon they all realize the found woman turns either vampire or witch. she turn to old woman and she start hunting the group. they all trying to escape from her but doors closed even windows. so they running in all rooms and try to hide. she is starting kill one by one. some of in the group they found babies in the room. they soon realized that this breeding area. and all babies are vampire ( bood sucking monsters) one of babies also attack them or bite fingers. she takes one male from group for breeding purposes. the remaining people are trying make bomb to kill her while they are hiding in digging tunnel. but they failed to kill her. she killed people in elevator, room, everywhere in house. finally she killed all of them. the movie ending with she is with her father in the room for photo shooting.after that in the bathroom another man dying its implies that he is another in her victim list. Now thank for reading.
@spookyastronauts Each one is a different screenplay that I wrote. I hope that you enjoy what you listen to.
I thought it was a fun popcorn movie, too!
Only thing ive heard is that this film is a star making performance for Alisha Weir
Please review sasquatch sunset 🙏
Just watched Abigail, very awesome vampire movie and highly recommend!
I'm glad it's good - excited to see it!! Stan Kathryn Newton
Be there tomorrow
Have you seen the film horror in the high desert.scaryest film ave seen a in a while??
Just saw this Emma. Your review was the push I needed. Wow! I think THIS is the best horror film this year thus far. I do wish the turn in the film hadn't been given away. But that said: SPOILER LOOK AWAY NOW! ...
This was the best vampire film in ages. (Though I did like the Last Voyage of the Demeter.) But after the Twilight films pretty much drained the genre of any life, this film is a welcome return to form. With some new blood. Supposedly this was inspired by Dracula's Daughter the old classic Universal film. But actually it seems quite inspired by Livid, a very creepy underrated film with a young vampire ballerina in an old dark house. Also there are nods to many other films here including From Dusk Til Dawn, the 80s version of Fright Night, and Dan Stevens seems to have really been inspired by at the end by Bill Paxton's turn in Near Dark, that swaggering, don't give a shit devilish smirk.
And Alisha Weir!!! A star is born. And were there shades on M3GAN in here too?
Thanks for getting me to see this one Emma.
I wonder if this is a take on Livide (2011)... I'll watch it anyways but I'd have prefered a more sorrow-filled version of this and not with a tropy name like Abigail
I didn’t expect the guy bringing kidnappers together was also a vampire. That was the only thing that wasn’t in the trailer. That makes sense with how the first person gets killed. The lure vampire kills him.
Wow thanks for the spoiler
I can’t do the gore. Thanks for the heads up.
Anything from the directors of Ready or Not I am going to be in the theater for. Lowkey I'm glad they were straight up about Abigail and who she was. It seems like it's meant to be a very tongue in cheek film. 😂
So, you're kind of glad they were straight up about her, but not particularly?
@@Corn_Pone_FlicksI mean don't get me wrong suspense and buildup would have been nice, but it's kind of refreshing to see that they're just honest about what's going on from the getgo. So often I feel like we get this whole first act where the child pretends to be so sweet and innocent when it's obvious they're evil and it just becomes a matter of when their mask comes off. Seeing a movie that just straight up says "nope she's a monster" just feels like something we haven't seen for a good while.
I thought it was lots of fun
They should have kept the whole story a secret; that would have been awesome but want to see now anyway with a big audience.
Emma I can't wait to watch Abigail horror movie (2024)
Does this movie bite or is it something you can sink your teeth into?
I thought peter was Elom nusk
Bahahahha
my seven year old wants to see this so bad. she is mad that i won't let her watch it in theaters but with you saying how much gore there is I am glad i told her no.
Yeah I don’t think it’s for kids!
