30 days of night. My husband and i for some reason love this movie. I think a remake with a cruise ship arriving at for the aureus borealis 20 years later would be amazing!
Just as a concept, I understand the logic of the plot. Most vampires have someone that handles the day-to-day activities and sometimes even have to find victims for blood. Hiring criminals to kidnap a vampire that looks like a young girl, then trapping the criminals in a house is almost too perfect. Not only are people that have probably done some bad stuff being killed off, but as criminals it would be hard to tell they were even missing if they use fake names or identities for their jobs. People would start to notice if High School QB, Neighborhood Mom, and Class President all started vanishing from the same small town around the same time Mr. Mystery and his daughter rolled into town.

Just saw it. Very good time. The ending from the control room onward I didn't love, but up to that point it was in the low to mid 90s (rating). Fell off a hair by the end but still highly recommend. I can only imagine what it would have been like watching and not knowing the reveal, but then again, I probably wouldn't have been watching. The other twist was a slow reveal that I thought worked well. That is why Barbarian was one of the greatest movie watching experiences (first act absolutely perfect). If anything had been shown in the trailer it would have ruined that tension and effectiveness. Excellent review JJ. Thanks
Exactly what I told my fiance, I loved it until it got to that scene and it just got too ridiculous after that. Still loved the movie and would watch it again .
There should be a regulation that every single trailer company that makes a trailer for a horror movie MUST watch the Barbarian trailer and make their own trailers in the same spirit. Having watched Abigail, it's extremely easy to see a solid trailer for this film done without disclosing that it's a vampire movie
I don't know why Abigail suddenly became a protagonist at the end, she literally killed everyone else in that house including peter and sammy and the movie tries to make me sympathize with her?? Even though Frank had a whole 180 for some reason 乁( •_• )ㄏ, I ended up actually rooting for Frank so he could kill Abigail
I'm only aware of this movie because I got the trailer as an ad on CZcams here a while back. Honestly I'm glad to see it isn't just a total mess so often these type of movies just don't land so to hear that it did and then some is great.
Definitely should have kept it out of the trailers because i had so much fun watching it, probably because i never saw the trailer or knew the plot. Also it was just good, good actors, characters, dialogue etc. Little girl killed it too.
Thanks so much for the review! I’ve developed a stigma against movies being heavily advertised over and over (via social media) as often they’re banking on as many people seeing it before realizing it’s shit, so I was worried Abigail was more of the same. But nope - next date night movie found!
When I saw the run time I was iffy but had a fun time from start to finish...not a dull moment at all! RIP Angus Cloud, didn't even know he was gonna be in it.
Lost Boys, Dracula 1992, Dusk Till Dawn, John Carpenter's Vampires, Interview with a Vampire, The Batman vs Dracula, Underworld 1 and 3, and Blade 1 and 2 are my favorite vampire movies.
This was shot in the south side of Dublin, I'm from the north side of Dublin, so it was nice seeing familiar places, absolute gem of a movie, and R.I.P Angus Cloud, his career was just getting started, he was going places, such a tragic end to his life, he deserved better.
I just saw this movie without seeing any trailers, only a poster, and I thought it was gonna be some sort of Black Swan Jr. but oh my god this movie was such a cool experience with naked eyes. The only reason I suspected something was up with Abigail was due to her being the title character, but vampires was the last thing on my list when I walked into that theater. Great review Jeremy!
As soon as I seen Kevin Durand I knew he was gonna be my favorite character! Not taking away from anyone in the film cause everyone did great but he was my favorite forsure!
Ah yes the ol' plot twist mid film where its revealed there's Vampire(s) involved that you didn't see coming. Surprised me the first time with Dusk To Dawn and got me again with Midnight Mass. Unfortunately for Abigail, you spend half the film knowing what the characters don't, just tapping your toes waiting for it to happen. This was laziness on the part of the marketing team, Dusk to Dawn was also billed as just a kidnap caper btw. There was enough scary bloody scenes in Abigail and with the right fast editing in the previews could have filled a theater without resorting to giving away that the girl is a vampire.
Thinking about checking this out now. Been on something of a horror kick lately with movies like Sting and Late Night With The Devil. Also looking forward to In A Violent Nature when it hits theaters.
If the trailer hadn’t given away the reveal, this would’ve been an all time classic. There’s a way they could’ve marketed it without giving that away. I think so at least
Chris Stuckmann was saying in his review he was mad they spoiled the reveal in the trailer. And I was wondering about that too as I saw the 1000th trailer for it and in his review like yours he mentions that they do a GREAT job hiding she's a vampire in the movie... thing is... I wouldn't have went to see this if I didn't know she was a vampire ballerina... so I'm SO TORN about the ads cause on one hand... it would have been a GREAT surprise... on the other... I would NOT have watched this movie w/o that fore knowledge lol.
I feel like horror is the new place for comedy in moves. I would kill for a sequel to tucker and dale vs evil that was the funniest movie I’ve seen in recent years
i give this movie a 9/10, it was amazing. i thought it was gonna be fun but it ended up being way better than I thought. little girl that plays Abigail deserves an Oscar for sure 100%
A tale as old as time. I picked up From Dusk Till Dawn in my local Vid shop (Bob Busters) way back when, and the owner shouted at me. "Put that down!!". I turned, smiled and complied. He then asked, "Do you know anything about the film? Did you read any of the box?". Honest answer to both was "no". He then said that I should rent the film and, if I didn't appreciate it, he'd refund me. Whether I did or didn't appreciate the film didn't matter (even though I did), the fact he made sure I went in blind was worth the rental fee. With that in mind, going in to Abigail not knowing that particular piece of information would have been great. A trailer could have been cut around the reveal, I feel.
The little girl that played Abigail deserves an Oscar she fing killed it!!!

To be fair, we do yell at them to give us original ideas. We uh, just don’t expect them to go this far down the rabbit hole lmao
I thought I clicked on an old video. That crisp and clean hair cut. Keeping Jeremy looking in his prime.
I'm only aware of this movie because I got the trailer as an ad on CZcams here a while back. Honestly I'm glad to see it isn't just a total mess so often these type of movies just don't land so to hear that it did and then some is great.
Dude "The Lost Boys" is my FAVORITE movie!!
Please tell me you’ve seen Near Dark.
Blade 1, 30 days of night, queen of the damed, John carpenters vamp, Underworld 1, Interview with the vamp 🧛♂️
Let the Right One in? Swedish one
Jeremy, you have to check out Hundreds of Beavers, PLEASE!
Also, can't wait to see this one tonight. Sounds like it'll be a ton of phone.
Definitely should have kept it out of the trailers because i had so much fun watching it, probably because i never saw the trailer or knew the plot. Also it was just good, good actors, characters, dialogue etc. Little girl killed it too.
No king diamond ?
I'm definitely seeing Abigail this weekend
Thanks so much for the review! I’ve developed a stigma against movies being heavily advertised over and over (via social media) as often they’re banking on as many people seeing it before realizing it’s shit, so I was worried Abigail was more of the same.
But nope - next date night movie found!
I positively luv how Abigail constantly toys with her "captors".
Am I the first here? 😮
BRO REVIEW FALLOUT tv show!!
I love you can't believe there's a movie called my name I love seeing my favourite CZcamsrs saying my name
When I saw the run time I was iffy but had a fun time from start to finish...not a dull moment at all! RIP Angus Cloud, didn't even know he was gonna be in it.
I need to show more love to this channel. It's my go to.
The internet would never keep that reveal a secret. Might as well use it for marketing.
Lost Boys and original Fright Night. The remake with Colin Farrell I think is a blast as well but I grew up with the first and just love it.
Now that sounds like people having fun and making a movie along the way. We need more of these.
i need more of you courtney 😍
As soon as I saw the vampire design from 30 days of night being used here, I knew this was gonna be good!
Vampire kino is back on the menu, boysss!
Ohhhh Jeremy! You're looking so much younger with that fresh cut sir! ☺
I wasn’t really wanting to see this after watching the trailer. I went anyway and was glad u went. Really enjoyed it- 😍
I just saw this movie without seeing any trailers, only a poster, and I thought it was gonna be some sort of Black Swan Jr. but oh my god this movie was such a cool experience with naked eyes.
What a phenomenal film and you’re right it was a bloody good time. Great review.
Awesome review of my favorite movie and I love Abigail!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I did not anticipate this working but now I’m eager to see it.
Let me in is soooo good. Just loved the idea wish they did more with it in other films
Never heard of it, going to see it. Thanks, Jeremy. 😊
Yeah the ending was dope too with the father coming in for one last final scare
I'm looking forward to this one. Looks fun and gory! As for go-to vampire movie: 30 Days of Night.
I wasn't gonna see this but you sold me. I'm down.
