    Hi
    This car came to me with the complaint that the service or spanner light was on, and the car would not go over 80 Mph.
    After a scan, P1120 was found to be the fault...
    But what was actually causing the fault, was something quite different than what the code was pointing to...
    Follow me on this video to find out what was the problem...

      @@LMAutoRepairs I had just replaced the camchain on my Corsa D DTE diesel, (horrible job but better than waiting till the camchain fails) the reason for no performance was that I had not reconnected the vacuum line to the vacuum pump on the inlet camshaft so the turbo actuator was not working. I do have an annoying spanner sign caused by the P068 code neutral position sensor which I can't clear, not yet sure if it's ECU or sensor. ECU connection shows 4.9v reference voltage, 0v ground, 11v on the signal wire which seems odd to me. Once again, many thanks for your efforts!

    Great effort on the repair. Top man. The most important thing to take away for Corsa D owners is to clean out the drains indicated in the video. If they are blocked water can't escape, will build up and ingress into the ECU case causing damage to the circuit board as seen in the video. The ECU sits on the same shelf level as the drains. Ridiculous placement of ECU by Vauxhall. Every Corsa D I have seen has the tool through the car service light permanently illuminated I suspect as a result of the water ingress to the ECU issue. Fortunately most drive normally and further damage avoided if the owners keep the drains clear.

    EDC16 Ecu with no legs on MCU very common on high side injectors to fail. pin32 is the ground for app sensor 2 that’s why you getting beeping sound on middle pin of voltage regulator. Pin 1 on voltage regulator is a ignition voltage coming from pin 52, pin 2 on v-regulator is 5v, pin 4,5 is 2.5 volts. Ignition voltage goes to those black diodes above the two 100 ohms resistors from forward base diodes to two resistors then to the capacitor or NPC ( non polarised capacitor) then last to the voltage regulator. 90% of one side of the NPC is connected with ground. Pin 15 is 5v ref for app 2. Pin 35 is ground for app 1 . Pin 41 is app 2 signal. Pin 65 is app 1 signal . Pin 83 is 5v ref for app 1. Manufacturers don’t release circuit board schematic unfortunately that’s why aftermarket and dealer mechanics they just replace entire Ecu. Unfortunately tracing is the only option to find a fault on circuit board

      EDC16 is the second generation of the Ecu that manufacturers used in their vehicles 2005-12 was the duration. EDC16 MCU has no pins/legs that’s how we find what generation is the ECU. unlike EDC17 they have more pins/legs I have seen 41 pins only on one side of the MCU. also on edc17 (TRICORE) says on top of the MCU. Magneti Martelli, Bosch, continental etc are the company’s that uses their logos or names on top of ecu’s.

    Let me ask you something. I have a 1.3cdti Corsa D, 2010. These have the water damage ECU due to their really stupid location under the wipers. The drain holes get plugged up and water builds up and damages the ECU. Well, before this my car was running well.Then after issue, would not start. I am a mecanic but due to time I had to take it to a shop. I got a used ECU and it was programmed to my car. It's been about a thousand mile and the car feels different. First it seems like it consumes more fuel. Then I have a slight engine vibration if I am standing still and barely increase RPM. Could this be related to the ECU, may be being used it had an issue or that the programer did not program it properly or should I be looking somewhere else?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před rokem

      Hi
      First make sure the ecu you installed is from a car with the same engine code, and that was not remapped or something...
      You can try to flash it with SPS, that should install the original maps...
      But, check the car for codes first...
      One more thing, I guess the ecu you installed was used, I have had instances where used ecus were send to me damaged...

    Hello there please help...
    I've watched your videos and they give good advice. Some have thought I've had magic powers as I head direct to the issue, usually I watched one of your videos based on their problem.
    Any how, as I can't contact you (where is the website)...
    I have a bipper, there is no can between the BSI and ECU.
    Now the wires should be twisted right? I can see this on the ECU clip2 but the one has odd wires which do no coalate.
    Auto data was not helpful with a pin out and of course parts are by code, so takes a little working out....
    Basically the bipper won't start as the ECU is not present and the ECU sends the wrong immobiliser code (not recognised) so there is obviously a problem on the can.

      Ok...
      My next step would be to remove the intake manifold... ensure is not clogged with gunk... which is kinda normal after the egr... that can restrict the air flow...
      While in there, clean the egr etc...
      If that is ok, then perhaps the injectors...
      I can't help much more without looking at the problem... if that makes sense...
      Essentially, the main two possibilities are, either there is not enough air reaching the pistons, or there is too much fuel being injected...
      Either because the system is made to think it needs to inject more, or faulty injectors leaking into the cylinders...
      Hope it makes sense...😛

    4:41 hold it there for a sec. How many failure modes has a potmeter? Do you think there is one failure mode, where the sensor would give 100% full throttle? Is this safe? It isn't that you couldn't drive the car, but how many death occupants would be on GMs shoulders?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 4 lety +1

      No...
      I have seen them where with one track not working, the car still drives, but for example will not rev above 2k and no speed above 30 mph or something like that...
      If one track reads full throttle, idle or no reading at all, but the other still gives a completely different reading, or gives what the ecu expects to see, the car goes in limp mode and puts the car in those conditions...
      I recall a Nissan I have done way before CZcams,... one of the signal wires was damaged, giving an open circuit... the other one was still working, the car would barely drive, but was dropped to me driving... same with this Corsa....
      I am probably wrongly assuming that all manufacturers and all cars behave the same, and should probably have mentioned in the video...
      Hope makes more sense now...

      The pots read the inverse of each other. Nothing to do with calculating better, but the ECU knows if both read inverse of each other both are okay and not damaged. If one is damaged you have limited throttle position available and limp.

    5:15 I can show you evidence of an Vauxhall (Opel) which follows APP sensor 2 voltage ripple and rpm ripples in the same way. APP1 used for counter check only. I don't agree with your statement for accuracy, you're not the designer, you can't know.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 4 lety +2

      Are you the designer?
      How can you tell then, that APP is used for counter check only?
      The car goes in limp mode regardless of with one fails... so I would say needs both readings to correctly calculate and ensure accuracy of the pedal position...
      I am not say you are not correct, and I said, I believe and makes some sense that this is how it works...
      But have a look at this, might help to complement my explanation...
