    Hello from Romania !
First of all I'm not a mechanic, I'm just passionate about cars.
    I repaired a neighbor's car , Opel insibnia 2.0/118kw with the same error P2282 .
It had the same defect ,broken rubber hose in two places .
Thanks , a great video , thanks to him I knew what to do step by step .
    Congratulations.

Great video. I'm a total amateur and after watching the video, I managed to do the same replacement pipe with one bend knife for taking out the fog light covers. One flat head screwdriver for jubilee clips! I had to reused the elbow part a mine was a third-party pipe only and still used this video right until finish. Very very very informative video!
    Thank you so much.

i just stumbled across this video ,after having spent a few hundred euro on my insignia for the same faults described ,the garage replaced the surge valve (for the diesel )and the mass air flow unit ,after 4 visits to the garage the car still goes into limp mode , after watching the video i took a mirror and a flash light and examined the hose and there was a rip in it , so back to the garage with the car ,i dont think they will be happy being told that i found the fault myself ,so thank you very much LM Autos , john gorman

Thanks for the video, helped me out a lot. To anyone else doing this. If you are buying the pipe, maybe get the elbow attachment already in place to save some hassle. You will need a 85-100mm clamp if you just buy the pipe, and you will need to take a photo of the original before removing the elbow as I had to re position a few times to get it right. The elbow attachment has a notch that will let you know when it is in place, the rest is just positioning and tightening. Thanks again.

Amazingly when I had mine I had this exact problem. The garage assured me it was a DPF issue and said they can fix it (it was a remap shop). Picked up later after they smashed the DPF out (told it was allowed) and remapped (my choice).....problem persists. Found the hose myself and fixed it no problems..... I didn't know no DPF was an MOT fail. I feel for the new owner 😳 luckily that was 5yrs ago. Thanks for the video :)

Thanks for this replacement of the pipe. I've been having the Service Vehicle Soon light keep coming on even after the dealer replaced the MAF seems they got it wrong the first time as the car has been back three times. They just phoned and said the intercooler pipe needed replacing. Expensive mistake even after they gave a discount and free fitting of the pipe.

Spot on that pal. I have a 2010 siggy and after faffing about cleaning sensors and replacing the maf etc I discovered a split discreetly tucked away on this rubber hose. Replaced it and car runs like a new motor now 👍
I removed the new maf sensor I bought and got a refund. Then i cleaned and put my old maf back on.
So just cos ya code reader is saying maf fault, before you go replacing it I would defo check that intercooler hose for leaks cos the leak will make the maf sensor unable to do its job properly which brings up the maf fault.
Anyway cheers mate great video. 👍

Great video. You helped me fix mine. My hose was not actually split or showing any visible sign of damage or oil etc. However, when I got the new one I could feel a huge difference in the rigidity of the replacement and the problem was immediately fixed. So even if you are not sure if this is the problem, with this code and limp mode its a fair bet. Its cheap to repair and I feel these hoses and the EGR cooler seals are totally consumable items that will fail on or before 100, 000.

Great video . I have a vw transporter with the engine management light showing the P0101 error MAF sensor readings error . I took the sensor out and cleaned it, cleared the codes only to find the error came back a day later. A friend of mine said it’s almost sure to be an intercooler pipe leaking so I went round all the joints on the intercooler pipes squirting brake cleaner with the engine running (cold) and the engine note changed when I squirted it on a particular joint. Almost the same fault as you but the leak was on a joint rather than a split. Most go for the MAF sensor and assume that’s the error is caused by that when it’s reporting out of tolerance readings and assume the MAF sensor is at fault. The MAF sensor for my van is £89 where it is actually not at fault ( and no I didn’t buy one). I ordered the intercooler pipe at £29 which after watching your video has underlined the problem to be the same as yours. I will post my result in a week to verify this as being the case .

I've had a lot of cars over the years and most haven't been much good but they were only cheap run abouts for getting to and from work. I decided to spend the £4000 I had saved over the years on a new car, my dad very kindly borrowed me £2000 to put to it to get a better car. So I went and brought a 2011 insignia 2.0cdti sri with 28000 miles on it, in mint condition from a garage 100 miles away for £6000. I had 6 months warranty on it and 2 weeks after the warranty expired the problems started. It will hesitate under slight acceleration but not cut out, it lost loads of power but not gone into limp mode, if I floor it, it will drive better than at low revs but obviously I cant floor it everywhere, no codes, no lights on dash.So far I've replaced the MAF sensor, MAP sensor, fuel filter, cleaned the egr valve, cleaned the throttle body, tomorrow I am going to check the boost pipe for a leak. I hate this car, words cannot express how much hatred I have developed for this car over the 8 months I have owned it. I wish it would just set on fire or someone would steal it. I truly deeply hate this car and if I ever win the lottery I'm going to fill it with drums of petrol and wire sum kind of explosive device to it and blow it of the face of the earth, I truly despise it.

The cars acceleration is really poor and goes in to limp mode. Any help would be great as so many garages cannot find any issues

My small leak is from the top clip, one of the "lug" holes at the back. The pipe itself appears to be sound. No boost issues or fault codes.
Why do these hoses have oil in them? I see some comments below mentioning that the turbo "seals" might be leaking, although it looks like everyone who replaces this pipe has oil in the hose. Hmmmm....

      Hi
The clip is just push in... but should have a rubber seal on the there... make sure is ok!
It is normal to have oil on this hoses after the turbo... they always leak slightly from the bearings... and a lot when the bearings are really bad... not to worry too much unless the amount of oil is excessive!

Ah, I had a problem with this clip at first, but the secret to reconnect it back up is holding it half open and you will hear a click! Just as the video showed, the clip have to be connected to the elbow part. Then push onto the main body.

Why is there oil in this pipe? I changed mine and it had oil in there is this normal? Great video

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 3 lety +1

Yes... as far as is not excessive... which in that case could indicate a leaking turbo...

Great diagnosis but doesn't need a new turbo I believe, I've seen it quite a few times already, oil vapours from the breather hose / oil separator are directed back to the intake pipe just after the air filter, I'm not sure how this is done on this particular engine but if the intercooler and the oil trap have never been cleaned before then it is likely for the oil mist to turn into wet spots which look like the turbo is leaking. Had the same on the HDI engine, cleaned the oil trap and the intercooler and it is still bone dry now after several thousand miles. It might still be a leaking turbo but this is something to keep in mind as well.
