Thanks man for taking the time out to make this video because without people like you people like me would be lost. Car wouldn't start egr stuck open code. Cleaned egr and bingo the valve working great again and car starting up fine. Result.
Great video, my car occasionally performs like someone has stole the turbo until yesterday I got the engine warning light which when I checked with the torque app and Bluetooth obd related to egr issues. I'll be cleaning it using your video tutorial. Saved me a trip to the stealers, many thanks
You’re welcome I’m glad it helped, I did this video because I had the same problem as you, I couldn’t find anything like my car on CZcams so when I figured it out I decided to do a video to hopefully help others
Hi Deano Taggo, if you have dpf issues I think it’ll show as error on the dash. I’m sorry I’m not a piston head to say if blocked valve can make your car lose power but I don’t think it will help the engine as the egr valve is like a breather for the engine and if it’s not opening and closing properly it’s not healthy for the engine. I’m sorry I wasn’t more help and hope someone with the knowledge can shed more light on it and correct me if I’m wrong.
Rac came out and manually requested switch to clear it. And car started but I expect I still need to clean and they dont clean themselves. I've been losing power you see, maybe dpf filter, exhaust issue??
I’m sorry for the late reply I haven’t been able to access my YT account for a long time, but answer to your question unless the gasket is damaged or worn out you don’t need to change it obviously it’s better if you change it for a new one but if your current one is in good condition you don’t need to I just used the old one and didn’t change it.
It must be stuck good’n’proper, yes you might have to tap it ever so gently on both sides to loosen it, I would recommend spraying wd40 on where it’s stuck to the engine and use the handle of the hammer to hit it and if you’ve got a hammer with rubber on the handle it’s ideal, but once again you’ll have to be gentle so you don’t damage the egr value.
@@scooped85 haven't had a second go at it yet thanks, but will update. I've had the egr mapped out with a stage 1 when I bought it so its fine for now.
Enough force to make sure it’s good and tight but not so tight where you feel it can’t be undone without damaging the bits or the bolts, I didn’t use a torque wrench but I made sure they are tight enough without over doing it. Hope that helps
Hi deano can you tell me I have the same thing on my xf2008 jaguar 2.7 diesel it telling me that exhaust gas recirculation flow excessive detected any ideas also it give me on my dash DSC not available and Rp
You can use purpose made egr cleaners but it won't get all the grime and soot depositon built up overtime, you can clean it up this way then use the purpose made egr cleaners to keep it clean and healthy, personally I just take it off and clean it once a year this way and never had any problems with egr valve and igs quite therapeutic too.
Make sure you disconnect the battery 1st before anythng. Mainly for personal safety, but also because the ECU will reboot meaning you don't need to relearn.
Is this true thst the valve bolts are incredibly easy to thread? When re tightening... is is hand tight? Other than that amazing video mate and thank you
Yes it is.. Just got a new egr valve for my astra , and will replace it next week..make sure clean the map sensor once you decide to clean the egr.. Had a car for over 2 years and always smokie, bad in fuel, no power, no fault code .. Took it to dozens places, no result.. Apparently it was dirty map sensor!!

Very clear video and explanation, it would have been nice to see the car run after all it was all back together . Thanks for your help
Nice video been looking all over for this same lay out as my 2.0l Astra Sri

Bardzo dobrze to pokazałeś i wytłumaczyłeś. Bardzo ci dziękuję, właśnie takiego filmu na YT szukałem. Niech Bóg cię błogosławi.
Sorry I don’t understand what you trying to say, my apologies

Could you just use a electrical contact cleaner to clean it out? Or is the Soot build up too tough?
Great video
So maybe in exhaust cholera system is woerst? This is obły valve, but masy mess is before valve?
hello sir please do you know i can locate the side detection sensor on this car i have the same car and thats not working for me know thanks
Very useful video thanks. One question, do I need to use new gaskets? Looks like you didn't change them.

How can this be done on a MkII insignia B?
Many thanks for video.
Not sure i'd have that going in my kitchen sink lmao
Lol, not one of my finest moments
do you need to clean it if there are no problems to be sure ore not?
brilliant, thanks Sir.
You’re welcome mate, I’m glad it helped.
Thanks buddy.
I've removed the 2 bolts for the egr valve, but it seems to be stuck and won't budge. I've read on a forum to tap it gently with a hammer.
Any ideas?

hi, did it come off OK?

what kind of force you used when you tighten the screw
Enough force to make sure it’s good and tight but not so tight where you feel it can’t be undone without damaging the bits or the bolts, I didn’t use a torque wrench but I made sure they are tight enough without over doing it. Hope that helps

I am sorry but I don’t know about that.
What size of wrench do I need to open the bolts?
A T45 torx bit if memory serves me right lol
Can a blocked one stop your engine revs?
Yes definitely. If it's badly blocked, you'll notice a significant loss of power below 2,000rpm.
Thank you
You’re welcome mate
Helped a lot but wouldn't it be better to use a purpose made egr cleaner?
You can use purpose made egr cleaners but it won't get all the grime and soot depositon built up overtime, you can clean it up this way then use the purpose made egr cleaners to keep it clean and healthy, personally I just take it off and clean it once a year this way and never had any problems with egr valve and igs quite therapeutic too.
Not the easiest cars to work on, the battery tray is quite fun to get out too lol.
You’re right it’s bit cramped under the hood
Would this be the same process on an insignia 2015 2.0 cdti ecoflex?
Yes same engine if it's the 2.0 CDTi 160hp model.
Do you need new gaskets when you do this?
Unless the gasket is damaged you don’t necessarily need a new one but if you do change it for a new one it’ll be a good thing
After washing this his wife is washing him with the wooden mallet 😅
Thanks! What is the mileage of your car? Please, write.
When I did this video it was 80k miles.
i have 2014 insignia and oily smel com inside the car while no leakage
I wouldn’t know about this I’m sorry
Good video, but mate, don't clean de EGR and flush all the dirt down the kitchen sink, it's highly contaminant in the water
Thank you, that's a good observation and a good tip I didn't think about the water being contaminated but for next time. Thanks
Hi when you take the egr valve off to clean ‘I was told it had to be relearned to the car again

Are they T30 holding the EGR in place?
You know I can't remember very well but I believe its t40, sorry.
T45
Why comes water outside of mine egr?
It might be that the gasket of the egr leaking so you might need to replace the gasket when you clean it and make sure it’s a tight fit
