There was already a 3D photoscan place in a mall near me. They wanted hundreds of dollars for a 3D printed model of you (the size of a wedding cake topper or like on top of a trophy), and another couple hundred dollars if you actually wanted the digital file. Until that price comes down, it's going to be a non-starter.
Well, you can do it cheaper and bankrupt them. Pretty sure you can make some face scanning rig with some raspberry pis and 40 camera modules with some good lighting.
Can also do resin prints as printers are getting pretty good and cheap.
Something like 4-5k and some coding would do. Not a huge investment really.
They already have 3d scan stores. A few years back there was a pop up one that would scan you and turn you into a Christmas ornament figurine. Also very cool workflow

I am trying this out using my web cam then adjusting to images only hope this will work for me as I dont have an IPHONE seems everything is made for apple products on that end will let you know when done. There's a place in Kansas City called 3D HQ that my wife and I stepped in a photo booth and they created 3D figurines. 500 bucks and it definitely wasn't $500 quality.

I think if you want a more accurate face you use multiple frame angles for the solver, but at the moment it crashes at so hopefully they can fix that

what kind of pics did you use? png,tif,jpg?? at what res? I tried 90 pics tif at 4k and it barley worked . looked no where as good and now for some reason im having trouble putting in the other extensions.

When the metahuman team will add a option to import also the face texture of our model will look even better . Without the original facial textures , of our characters the new metahuman character will look like a robot ....

As JSFilmz said, other software can be a big help here. One pathway is exporting your materials and mesh from meta from UE5, then texturing the materials in Substance (using the warp projection tool from 2021). Then just export the textures in a UE5 format, and reapply to your mesh.
@@randwilliams5552 I think we can do the same procedure with WRAP 4D ...Convert your scan or 3d character in to a metahuman character , than after that , use that new converted texture of your scan in to unreal .... And will fit perfect

I'm new to all this amazing stuff. But I'm wondering why the final skin and details (eyes, eyebrows, skin, nose) can't be just like the photo at 8:28 rather than having to approximate it with a preset texture, like at 10:48, which makes it look far less real, imo. I thought the point of this kind of software was to be able to take, for example, that whole face at 8:28, analyze it, and then animate it, _as it is,_ instead of having to re-create the textures by browsing presets.

yea blender is free so i use it for small stuff like that
Okay, but there is a much faster way to generate for the Metahuman algorithm. But if you need a specific face, with an accuracy of 90%, then - maybe, but after the conversion, the photoscan loses some of its functions.
Can you do a tutorial of how to export back into unreal with textures and all. For some reason only the mesh imports into unreal from bridge
for now ull have go use meta textures unless u use zbrush to blend the two

Instead of reality capture, can you use the FaceBuilder addon for Blender and then import it into MetaHuman?

Problem with metahuman is that it never gets model right. I own a 0.025mm accuracy creaform 3d scanner. I have acurate mesh dats from head. And netahuman fsils to read it correctly, and generates i correct head shape and washes out all details. They have s lot more wirk to do to get it right.
Sculpting option in settings they have is poor solution. Id then use zbrush.

Nice video, but just one suggestion. Perhaps you could use some software that you don't have to pay for even if only a small amount for the budding newbie trying to learn this new technology, there are a couple of nice free photo scanning software packages out there. MeshRoom being one, would love to see a video using that.

Did reality capture convert the images right away to just a face geometry? Why is my conversion not occuring so smoothly? Is it the way I take the images and the surrounding environment?

hello I manage to make it work, I deleted all my epic games and quixel (app data files) then I made myself a new account (same epic games account for Metahuman creator app, Bridge and Unreal Engine) then I isntalled Bridge stand alone and Bridge plug in for Unreal 5.0.2 and after having the same library set up for Bridge stand alone and the plug in version, pretty painful but it worked for me haha

bro Cannot Find MetaHuman Plugin any solution
Not sure if it's helpful to you at this point since your comment is old, but for anyone else also looking for this answer-
As of 5.0.3, metahuman is not a default plugin. You have to download the MetaHuman plugin and install it to the engine from the epic marketplace. you can find it by searching "MetaHuman Plugin."
If you're having trouble accessing it through the marketplace, try using a web browser, finding the plugin through unreal's webpage and opening the epic launcher. You should be taken directly to the plugin that way as well and you can install. Hope that helps!

yea totally man wait till you can 3d print these like in mission impossible then ai voice changers. something that was thought to be science fiction a decade or two ago might not be so impossible
