  • Driving a twin turbo BMW is good fun, but it's even more fun when it makes loud blow-off valve noises!
    Join me as we install the VRSF Charge Pipe and TIAL BOV onto my 2008 BMW 135i N54 E82. We also installed the BMS N54 BOV Vacuum Adapter to get even better response (linked below).
    FYI - it’s 2009+ N54/N55 that NEED to update their charge pipe. If yours is 2008 or earlier, it’s optional (but can still help with performance!).

    Hi mate, loving the content. I am looking to slide into a 135i convertible below 100k kms and was wondering what you think I should be looking to pay? not sure if prices have shifted a lot this year due to COVID.

      Thanks man. Hopefully get my next video out in the next two weeks and get the FMIC done. It’s a big job so I keep putting it off haha. Regarding your purchase - cars seem to be more expensive since COVID. Looks like a good example is going for 20-25 in that region now when I managed to get mine for 15

    Hey, If you are concerned with the oil in your intake you could/should do an oil catch can if you haven't already, Vacuum and boost sides or upgrade the PCV and Bost side CC. Maybe do this before you do the FMIC so it doesn't get full of blow by. Everyone I know says catch cans are important for this engine. Then walnut blast and you are good to go!

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  Před 3 lety

      Definitely a great tip! I’ve been looking into them. I have already purchased the FMIC so I will install that and try and get the catch cans ASAP. These cars certainly are a money pit! Hahah

    What spring are you running in the tial bov ?
    Sounds like your getting some fluttering, sounds cool but isnt ideal for the turbo (it's resourcing air flowing backwards through the turbo) Should be more of a whoosh instead of stutu

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  Před 3 lety

      I don't think it's fluttering regularly, if at all - I think whatever you may have heard in the video would be to do with how I let off the throttle and where in the boost peak its at. Generally the blow off sound is a hard release 'whoosh'. The spring is whatever comes with stock on the genuine tial BOV - I didn't have an option. My boost is at MHD stage 2 levels

    N54 charge pipe will blow at even the slightest tune or mod
    The charge pipe besides sound is usually a preventitive / supporting mod

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  Před 3 lety

      It’s only 2009+ charge pipes that blow. 2008 and earlier are fine :)
      But yes you’re right - it’s preventative for 2009+ model N54 and N55

      @nathanielbellard9481 Před 3 lety +1

      My 2009 ran perfectly mine on stage 2 with DPs, intake and E30. I just changed it because I was changing everything when I went FBO.

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  Před 3 lety

      There will always be exceptions, but people consider them “ticking time bombs” for 2009+ N54 engines

  • @nathanielbellard9481
    @nathanielbellard9481 Před 3 lety

    The charge pipe and BOV isn't mainly for sound. It's to improve turbo performance and longevity.

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  Před 3 lety

      Agreed. But if you own a 2008 or earlier, it’s an optional upgrade - mostly for sound.
