We've got an ageing squad and we're being linked with Maguire and Calum Wilson again. Even if Sully bottles it and gives Moyes another contract, Moyes cannot be allowed near the transfer pot.
Being “linked” let alone making bids or even being interested in the player are 2 different things.
TBF would we have been any worse having Maguire at LCH this season than we have with Aguerd?
@@MarkChippers2193 Of course we would. We'd have yet another old player on our books with no re-sale value and compounding the problem. That's the whole point of my original post.
@@philmcdonald7956 The summer is most probably about replacing these, imo:
- Johnson (RB)
- Ogbonna (CB)
- Cresswell (LB)
- Phillips (CM)
- Cornet (AM)
- Antonio/Ings (CF)
The two years after that are very light on contract expiries, so there is ‘some’ room for shorter term solutions with one or two of the new arrivals this summer without it piling up future problems.
@@MarkChippers2193 The scale of rebuild required in the summer has been covered at length already and is far bigger than you indicate. Against the background of FFP and PSR, short term solutions will need to be limited to loans and frees. The Rice windfall has largely been frittered away on huge losses on players over the last few years.
The issue with too many 28+ year olds is we have to replace 5-6 players every season. It's a strategy we have to change and weve seen glimpses of it at times. But it needs to be a little more radical. The Osman signing is exactly the type of profile of player we need to be looking at as well as the odd experienced player thrown in too.
If liverpool can promote and give so many academy graduates significant 1st team game time and maintain a challenge for title and cups, there's really no excuse for west ham not giving some kids opportunities.
If you go into the Liverpool team as a youth, you go into an attacking side. If you go into our team, you’ll be in a dour defensive side. I believe it’s easier to go into an exciting tactical setup
There is an excuse - its called Moyes
Agree, which is why the Board must back the model that the appointment of Steidten indicated and not allow Moyes to get a transfer veto and appoint players for short-term gain. At the same time, must make youth development integral to our strategy and improve how we loan out the youth players so that they get real game time.
100%
Orford and Fennick,(goalkeeper) just had a really good u18's tournament for England.
One thing the club MUST do is change their mentality around the January transfer window. Moyes is so negative about it, as are others at the club. But it’s 1 of only 2 opportunities to change the squad, raise funds and bring players in.
We now find ourselves potentially needing another rebuild and it’s too much to do in one window. Even with a pre-season. We are missing a trick and it’s to our detriment
Agreed Geo you have to sow to reap & we have to be less risk adverse, be visually vigilant, data driven & ruthless at trading up. The first squad must continuously improve, coaches must figure out how to get talent there.
Shit, Bowen just played a blinder for England, good job Klopps leaving the Poo!
Bowen isn't the worry now if Salah leaves. Kudus is the concern.
Why would Bowen go to Liverpool ffs. Klopp there or not lol😅 Living up there for a start with family is a joke in itself. 😅
Moyes is our main problem.
It won't happen under moyes
Steidten is the best component to turnover, paqueta next year, rice last, kudus or Bowen year after the next one after that and we can improve in the regeneration process
No confidence in the clubs transfer business whatsoever
Sullivan doesn’t have a clue & moyes only buys players for the short term
Look at the list of players we “could have had” and turned them down. Only for them to flourish elsewhere.
Can’t remember which podcast I said it but i think if we can get a new plot of land to bring all our age groups together training in the same complex as our 1st team they can integrate the youngsters during training sessions make all the youngsters feel a part of our future ⚒️⚒️⚒️
Agree with every word you said Gonzo said the exact same when it comes to the youngsters say ,, goodbye ,, to Moyes and let Tim crack on and do his magic without inside interference . If we let this opportunity pass the board are not fit for purpose.
But how do you get Moyes to change his outlook on this? We know he is stubborn so if he gets a new contract there's no chance for our youngsters.
Geo and gonzo you guys need to manage all of westham, lol😊
Totaly agree with acadamy players great source of income to FFP
hopefully we already have our manager signed and they are just seeing out their current season
too optimistic? probably, but it does seem really quiet on the manager front and noises are picking up on players instead, hopefully arne slot has already committed to us, or even tuchel
Could you please inform us what teams you think are on the correct road
Do you think these psr rules being enforced strongly is because the powers that be know/think the broadcast deal gravy train may be over and want clubs to get their books in order?
Only problem I have with that geo when you get to the top of the pyramid who do they sell too, so how do they sustain
The failure in the Academy is down to Moyes, and the impact of our youngsters not seeing a path through to the first team. Recent exits are evidence of this. Perhaps with the potential exit of Moyes, the new manager should seek out those good players lost and buy them back, before their costs become prohibitive.
I am confident that some of these players could go on to be very good players, I really believe Freddie Potts could be close to declan rice levels but he's got to get a chance, thats the only loan out of how many over the last 2-3 seasons that u can actually say has been a successful loan, we cannot afford to keep fucking this up
Since we do not know who the manager will be next season, why is most speculation geared towards Moyes at the helm? I'd say it's more likely he won't be here than he will, due to no contract.
Moyes lack of interest in developing the Academy players is absolutely shameful, totally contradictory to the West Ham way, the biggest stain on his legacy and by far the thing that makes me the most angry about him being at the club. Any long term problems holding on to key young players will fall squarely at the feet of Sullivan who has allowed this to happen by keeping the dinosaur in charge. He’s 60, he’s got millions of pounds, he’s won a European trophy, why won’t the likes of him and Allardyce and Hodgson just f_
Edgar Sevikyan is a young good creative player and can play on the left wing as well
I ❤ you two. ⚒️⚒️⚒️
Gonzo 7 mins in ! From the "heart stuff " then its shave yr b^^x stuff
We need our youth! yes plse !
On the bright side we do have the building blocks in place and we have a very successful academy. Now need to push on and that is within the owners and boards control. No excuses with this one
We have to start integrating our youth players into the first team squad even if it is just to generate value & get £10-15m fees for the ones who “don’t quite make it” to generate cash & the squad rules require “proper home grown” players (trained at club NOT just in country) going forward.
Pathway for any young player is key at a club like west ham. They cannot compete financially with the likes of Man City or Chelsea, so unless they are shown the route through to the first team (if good enough) then they will always choose to go elsewhere for the financial gain. Not the right way to be thinking , but it happens.
Because of Moyes's mismanagement of squad there will have to be a high profile sale other than Paquetta. Bowen will also be off this summer.
I don't think that will happen
That's complete utter speculation of the highest order.
@@brawrecords Yes it is, but under the Steidten Modal, you have to optimise the right time to sell an asset. Bowen's contract merely protects the value, not whether he stays or goes. He's now 27 and we've had the best of him. Given the massive losses in player valuation under Moyes, this address that and recoups the losses. Particularly if any new Head Coach wishes to switch to the Wing Back system (which I hope he will do) rendering Bowen's position obsolete. It makes perfect sense to me.
Can't see Bowen leaving at all in the summer. I think he'd push to stay, even if the club wanted to sell him tbh, which they wouldn't.
I thought Gonzo liked "streaming the bush" , only trouble is , some has got stuck above his upper lip.. .sorry guys I know this is a family show
As WEST HAM fans you must UNITE with other media sites it’s your only chance to persuade Sullivan to do the right thing thing for WEST HAM and not just see the pound notes on the property sale.⚒⚒⚒👍
We have a blocker between the academy and the first team. Until that is excised, our academy are undescended testicles.
Moyes will stop everything he can't control and if you give him control transfers we will fail because he's not competent to bring in young talented players over old established (but nearly past it) prem players. The only way our club can move forward and become a top 6 side is to release Moyes. But Sullivan is scared to do that so we're stuck where we are. Leverkussen will be a brilliant indicator to where we are under Moyes.
I strongly suspect that Tim Steidten came here bc of our youth players.
Lets face it we got sullivan and moyes you cant get worse.
The future of this ffp or whatever it’ll be will turn out to be where clubs decide buy now pay later deals or hp deals with payment for players over 3-5 year deal payments 😂⚒️
I don't think young players have to be 'GIVEN' a chance because it's not some kind of lottery or a jolly up for all those who fancy having a go. If you're young & lucky enough to be involved
with a big club, then you owe it to yourself (& Ma & Pa) to shine above the rest and get yourself noticed to a manager. And that way "my son", he can't ignore including you in his selection!
It's not all down to the manger (or coaching staff) to give someone a chance (they've already had that), it's down to an individual to make the most of the opportunities, as it's always been!
Moyes instills zero confidence in our youth , Klopp trusts them and encourages and takes real time and effort with them that's the difference Liverpool youth are mid table where our youngsters have been top of league with spuds for long time now and done everything asked of them but then they hit a brick wall in Moyes he is useless with the development among many other no brainier decisions.
@@fredtraylen4311 So easy to blame Moyes for everything.
Liverpool's whole system is built upon confidence, from the top to the bottom & I guess it's installed into the little ones, as soon as they put a red shirt on. But it takes years
& years of competing in the top flight to get there. It also helps to have a patient & supportive fan base behind you to carry it off and it's a shame to say, that we have neither
of those going on at our club these days!
But just because your manager is willing to give the kid's a chance, doesn't guarantee success and can be detrimental to the player's health & wellbeing, if he's used to early.
Yet if we do take on the mantle & structure that Liverpool show (& I think it's a good 'un) then we need to have a policy in place, that all managers are expected to adhere to.
Then shut down the academy as there aren't many 19/20 year olds that will be able to oust one of our starting 11, and our current crop are as good as it gets. When Rice came into the team he looked very green.
@@lewis4929Never any need to shut down the academy just need a system that nurtures and helps the person to grow into something good. It would be ideal if we could bring
more youngsters into the affray sooner but they must show promise first before showing they can also take the pressure and that includes competing for positions. Rice was a
cut above the rest and David Moyes & Co done a very good job on improving the boy to the point where he even he became an England captain. Congratulations in order???
@@lewis4929 Can't see any need to shut down the academy, just need a system in place that nurtures & helps the individual grow into something good. It would be ideal

congratulations are in order and how wonderful it is to give the little ones at our club, something to aspire to!
It’s been so peaceful the last week or so. International break has done me wonders. But ffs. It’s March can we finish this season first.
I don’t doubt it’s going to be a busy summer . Last summer didn’t turn out to bad on the transfer front and I’m fully confident the next one will as well. COYI ⚒
Man city isn't a powerhouse it's the purest plastic club that's only demolished the rules
Moyes out first.. end of
I don’t get the Tim Steidtein confidence? He’s brought in 0 rough diamonds for cheap. He’s bought two fully established internationals who were amazing for their previous club. He’s had two windows now, where are these cheap sell for loads players?? Is he waiting till next year? Why not do it straight away?
Sullivan pulled the plug on Osman.
With Moyes we buy players old and expensive and then give them away for nothing because Sullivan can’t see beyond the profit of the land we sit on. So WEST HAM UNITED are doomed. ⚒⚒⚒
Johnson is typical example looks like he will leave on free, if they had offered him contract maybe they could sold him on £10 million City took on one of our released young centre half’s they obviously see something there. Look at Chelsea selling on players for silly money, we must learn
Disagree government wont get involved imsgine highlighting the man city charges, the British government can't even compete with the city owners
Moyes out
Antonio has another decade. Same for the Moyesiah 😂😂
MOYSE OUT
Geo, in all honesty. Your love in with Mark Noble is false. He has no real role. Overated!
Not true. Definitely not overrated
Steidten inspires no confidence in me. He blew it with dealing with the wrong agent. Moyes has given us European adventures I have dreamed of in the 50 years plus i have supported the team. If one has to go. Moyes or Steidten. Goodbye Steidten.
The team who are currently 7th in the Premier league and in another quarter final of a European competition as we enter April “must improve player recruitment”.? 🤔😂 3rd time in the last 4 seasons too isn’t it?
I know...just cant please some people 🙄
Yes.
Helmet!
If we repeated the last 3 years for the next, we would not comply with the new PSR rules and be punished.
So you can be happy with us continuing but I’d rather we improved.
Moyes is a busted flush, move on.
We can't continue with his signings and game plan.
