    I speak Portuguese and I just watched a long interview with this journalist on Portuguese Television. The good news is the "error" that the journalist refers to apparently has nothing to do with how he conducted himself or what he may have said during his interviews with Steidten and Sullivan (they're not even mentioned either by name or title).
    The journalist speculates two possibilities for what the error could be. The first and most likely admission is the timing of his trip to London and what verbal promises he had made to Sporting about the nature of the trip - namely, that it wasn't really an "interview" per say, but turned out, in fact, to be just that - in other words, that he misled Sporting.
    The journalist then leaves open the possibility that the "error" is that his trip to West Ham was taken as cheeky by Liverpool and thus hurt his chances of getting the job there.
    We'll have to wait and see, and it could be that the journalist is totally wrong. But at this point, it appears that the "error" is not related to details during his West Ham meetings. Let's hope that is the case.

    I think our biggest problem has always been our owners. Look back to the days when we had the best youngsters coming though: Rio, Lampard, Cole, Carrick etc. All sold and replaced with players nowhere near as good. Even in the last 5 years or so we have had the opportunity to push forward and for whatever reason we have missed out because of a lack of investment particularly in the January windows. I think Moyes has to be credited for what he has achieved, whilst the football hasn't always been the easiest to watch he has delivered us a trophy, 3 successive seasons of European football, and almost breaking into the Champions League. Unfortunately, the squad has aged and his style of play isn't suited to some of the players we have brought in so we come to that stage again where we have to rebuild. Personally, I think Sullivan should trust Steidten and let him have full control over the team but I don't think he will and this will yet again prove to be a missed opportunity, especially if Steidten walks away.

  • @patrickjoel4041
    @patrickjoel4041 Před 15 dny +2

    From Steidten’s viewpoint I would imagine he would prefer a fellow German like Tuchel whom he is friends with or Hansi Flick to work with . And Sullivan has made it known that he would like an experienced manager who has won trophies at top level, both fulfil that criteria. But Amorim, has also got pedigree for a young manager, he’s won things . Hansi Flick favours a high-pressing, fast-paced football and believes the best defense is unrelenting aggression. That was the Bayern way until more recent appointments of Thomas Tuchel or Carlo Ancelotti who play a more structured way. There certainly wouldn’t be any dull boring games with him in charge. I like Flick, but any of the three I’d be happy with

    • @harrywix
      @harrywix Před 15 dny

    • @paulholland6884
      @paulholland6884 Před 15 dny +3

      Firstly because we are a premier league club in London which has a big say in where managers want to move their families to. Secondly we sell out most if not all of our home 60k seater stadium games. Thirdly our transfer budget will and should be a lot bigger than sporting Lisbon. A manager who comes into a club that's not qualified for Europe might see that as a blessing. Because let's say the first year of management he accomplished European football. That's a win for the manager.
      Let's not downplay how big a pull the manager's job is at west ham.

    Probably not but you'd think Tim may have reined in Sullivan's tendencies a bit.
    Also I think Amorim is going to be pretty naive in spilling any beans if he does choose to. Other owners in future aren't going to be particularly impressed and may put them off him if he's not going to keep private conversations to himself.

    More importantly, how did this band wagon start about Moyes out? How did the media get hold of it? Was there hundreds of banners, protests and songs in stadiums...no.
    This got started from a few fans sites saying it as it is for so long.
    Why on earth you think Moyes will stay is beyond so many

    Lop is old news, he isn't in the frame
    There's no conflict between sulli and steidten, leave th drama for clicks to the rags
    I bet Amorim is still on the cards as the club consider options of which there are countless

    Please God no not Lopatentpeg. 🥴
    Amorin must now be thinking, I've made an error & Sporting will probably sack me, but FFS why not, cos if granpa Moyes can win 1 flowerpot vase cup in 4yrs i can win the CL & PL every season. ⚒️

    Gonzo, I’ve said this for years. Sullivan is the reason this club is such a shit show.
    How many players have turned us down after meeting him
    How many clubs has Sullivan pissed off trying to buy players
    How many managers have turned us down after meeting Sullivan.
    Wonder how many potential investors or new owners have tried to or won’t deal with Sullivan.
    He’s a fucking cancer for our club.

    The manager/ coach position is crucial for our improvement. Just remember Aston Villa last season. Villa are a very similar status club to us. European pedigree but never quite dining at the high table. They got rid of Gerrard and installed Unai Emery, who had failed miserably (and some would say unfairly) at Arsenal. Look where they are now. They shot up the league and are worthy of fourth place. Yet is their squad any better than ours? Sullivan undermined Steidten over Amorim. He has got to keep out of the way. For once in his life for God's sake Sully, let the Director Of Football do his job and just stay out of it.
