Flynn Downes should be given every chance to prove himself
Jwp hasn't done jack lately
@@curtisalleyne3710 JWP has also been played by moyes as a round peg in a square hole , hoping j-lo will at least give him a chance in a better position
Gonzo, did you see Flynn Downes against Leeds recently?,absolute fabulous performance, i know people will say its only Championship football but the fella looked outstanding, bring him back and give him the chance he deserves
He deserves a chance!
He had a great game. I’m up for giving him a chance
As long as he can see a problem mid game and change it ,
He will get my vote
Here's another positive data point to add: Having lived in both Spain and Portugal, I can tell you that although we like to think of them as being culturally similar, there's loads of animosity between them. I've checked and it appears that Lopetegui is the only Spanish manager to have managed in Portugal's top league - this, despite their proximity and the surfeit of good Spanish managers. That means he's culturally versatile and adaptable.
The bar for acceptance in Portugal of a Spanish manager is even higher than the bar in England for the acceptance of an American manager, for example. And think about Moyes at Real Sociedad and all the cultural faux pas he made there, which certainly did not endear him to the fans from the get go. Well, Lopetegui seems the opposite. If a Spanish manager could endear himself to the Porto fans, then he has a good chance with the Hammers fans.
Interesting informative comment, thanks. Or gracias or obrigado. Take yer pick 😜👍
Pity my favorite hammer over the last three seasons left in January Pablo would have been used in his correct position
I’m looking forward to giving the guy a chance. I hope he does well and good luck to the fella.
That’s great news. That means he would have done his homework and identified our weaknesses and the players he wants to bring in, keep and let go. I’m hopeful.
Hi gonzo, I was stupidly knee jerk when this appointment was first mentioned and I did that without any real evidence! The more I’ve actually listened to others the more I have been encouraged that my initial reaction was really rather foolish. Thanks to all on channel for their assistance in educating me
oh and how many of the rest of us should put our hands up too Dean
That’s a great comment; everyone deserves a chance
Same here.. i always saw him as pellegrini 2.0 with a bad attitude..but more i hear of him, the more i get excited.
I'm the same he wouldn't of had the calibre of players at wolves as we have especially in Bowen, Kudas & Paquetta
Plus since he left wolves he's been based in England so he would of done lots of homework especially on British players
I was of the same feeling. I knee jerk reacted, more as an indication of how Sullivan operates. However, after some more research, I am happy to fully support J-Lo in the appointment.
Gonzo, I'm the same. There has been so much negativity around the club for years. I can't be arsed joining in with it, I won't judge him in advance, I'll judge him after a full season
Exactly….. I would expect Lopetegui knows what he’s aiming for next season. To bring a style of play that wins over the fans, that for me is crucial. And based on the transfer budget over the summer he will have expectations of what he wants to achieve . If he can bring in 6 first teamers which is what I would expect he will need time to gel the team , to the style he wants them to play.. This was where Moyes was weak, he couldn’t determine his best 11 or his best system , took him ages to arrive at his eventual set up, and that was more often by luck than judgement. A decent manager shouldn’t have that problem. Lopetegui is experienced he has won things and managed at the highest level, that counts for a lot, and I would expect he would hope to achieve the impact Unai Emery has had at Villa by his second season.
Well if you listen to Guieme Balague the Spanish reporter, he is a top top coach & if given the money & time he will be good for West Ham. He said it’s a 3yr contract, also Sullivan spoke with Lopetegui a year ago but kept Moyes as he won the trophy. There’s a lot more to this than meets the eye.
At this point we can only try and be positive about it - completely out of our hands. Moyes had to go, we have a new manager... time to be positive and hopeful the summer will go well.
After the purgatory of the last 2 years under Moyes, a change was needed. Your point about the difference between Moyse and Amorim was a good one, I hadn't considered that. It would probably have been too much of a change (and too risky given we need 6-8 new players to come in) to
go from one extreme to another.
I'm all for getting behind Lopetegui and let's see what he can do. My knowledge of him is scant, but he wouldn't have been Real and the Spanish national manager if he was that bad. He kept Wolves up too, so he clearly has the ability to COACH players, unlike someone we know.
Perhaps with the likes of Bowen, Kudus, Paq-man (if he stays), Alverez, and maybe Cornet too, players of the calibre Wolves didn't have at the time, he can go one better with us, and make us much better defensively and going forward more or a threat.
Bottom line...give the man a chance.
Well said Gonzo, I am 100% with you exciting times :)
Turns out Moyes is making appearances on talk sport!!!...now there's a surprise🤣🤣🤣
Evidently he will be one of the experts at the euros for talksport. Now Villa are out of Conference cup I wonder how long it will be before White starts saying moyes did better than emery!! Still Emery is in the top 4, all season, and will get champions league next year.
@@mercedessl8718the modern fan. Prefers champions league qualification than cup finals
A good coach plays a style that suits the playing squad. Unlike Moyes who was bought vast riches but if they wanted to pass the halfway line they got stomped on.
Fair enough Gonzo. Am looking forward to the new era too
Why dont we get a petition for sullivan.
You may be better stumping up the money to buy him out eh? 🤣🤣
He's the owner
He'd just get a court order to protect his identity....
There is a billion reasons it won't work! ⚒️
If Tim’s had anything to do with this arrangement? And we get three maybe four positions upgraded? I think he will be a positive signing…we’ve had a negative GD for months, though all around were stumbling, we were lucky enough to have a top defensive manager(bollox). I hope we will be more imaginative and more ball possession needed. The summer signings should give us some idea of where we may be aiming.⚒COYI⚒
Recruitment is everything. If Lopo is here, Steidten needs to be working already to support him. Coaches, players. Tim will have his Targets, but the coach must be empowered. We need a solid 11, excellent options off the bench to effect a game, and a man who is going to manage the group. I have no concerns that Tim will build a highly talented squad, it's just down to someone to manage the group and stick to the script. I would definitely be keeping Nolan as a coach next season, then if it is Lopogeuli, bring in some low-level transfers as well to support him, players he knows. If Lopo is coming in, it should be decided by now. Him and Tim need to be already making plans. That's in terms of recruitment, opposition analysis for next year, planning a season's worth of sessions for the players, etc. Whoever replaces Moyes next season, his main role is the coaching.
Let's hope they can work with each other...then the future could be bright....
But it may take some time.
The thing that buoys me about this, is that with Moyes it felt like a lot of his indecision and dithering in the transfer windows was stalling in order to limit the number of players coming in to match his preference of a small squad. This guy on the other hand seems to be demanding fresh blood, and new talent to deliver his vision. Refreshing change.
If we can get in Greaves, Tosin and the attacking mid from Coventry and bring back downes, that 4 players for 15m , increases the technical ability of the team and lowers the age, and ups the home grown quota. Then we can look at full back, left wingers and strikers
Sounds positive clean slate for all including the fans
I'm excited not by the football, but by the fact we actually seem somewhat organised before the window and JLo clearly really wants the job and looks really keen to do well. The enthusiasm and due diligence from him has really warmed me to him before we've kicked a ball.
Great point about the training ground. Sullivan needs to build some proper facilities there.
I don't want to see us leave as the injury rate has plummetted since leaving Chadwell Heath for Rush Green so proper buildings and facilities on site there would be fantastic.
Can you guys put the advertising at the end of the video?
I actually agree with what you have said. There has been so much negativity, and to be fair it’s beginning to really grind on me. Gonzo has been a breath of fresh air in regards to the positivity of the new coach. I had to sign out of twitter as that platform is negative it’s unreal. Let’s all look forward to the new season and get behind j-Lo. Coyis
I'd like to think Oggy would be kept on to be an academy defence coach 🤞
But they also do have ancient defenders still playing in Italy aswell so
Yes agree Gonzo let's get behind the new bloke hopefully interesting times as a Hammer
COYI
DeZerbi did exactly the same before he approached Brighton
B4 we dismiss the new fella, let him unpack hes suitcase,
Sorry to say but anything is better than Moyes right now.. It will be good to see Steidten in action without having Moyes throwing a spanner in... COYI ⚒️
Great video mate!
He ticks the boxes for Sullivan.
Won things, tick.
Managed at/a big club, tick.
Can survive a relegation battle in the epl, tick.
I'm actually looking forward to him coming in and I agree, transfer window is interesting all of a sudden : ) ⚒️
I saw a video when he started at Wolves, he's engaging and very inclusive
He was a complete waste of time that’s what he was at wolves ,
Gonzo, If we were linked to the best midfielder in the Championship, we'd all be excited, thing is... we already own him? Can't wait to see Maxwell given a proper chance, It's criminal how Moyse has treated him.
Agree with everything you said Gonzo. I prefer evolution to revolution as this squad contains some seriously talented players . From some of the opinions of the Julen friendly media he may be just who we need.
After Charlie's interview with Hammerlytics I'm don't feel negative at all. I agree with you Gonzo, I think Lopetegui has been waiting in the wings for ages, since he left Wolves at least. Surely that means he'll be really prepared?
If nothing else, as a new broom, he can move us past some of our recurring problems (losing talented signings, too few youngsters, poor transfer windows, square pegs in round holes) and traditional frailties (aged squad, limited bench, too many who need moving on, no plan B) .
Personally I'm excited to see what happens, I certainly wouldn't be if Mr M was still in place next season.
Right now I loved Fonseca but if you look at it his name could bring in play that Moyes name couldn't and we have Tim and noble so let's see what happens
Guillem Ballague spoke highly of Lopetagui and believes he'll do well at West Ham. That's a man who knows his onions and especially the Spanish scene.
I also watched Charlie’s video Gonzo and thought exactly the same thing, I think they made a very good point that if we had a manager that was all out attack then that maybe a step too far at this stage of the new era. I’m starting to look forward to the summer and the new season. ⚒⚒⚒
Would be great to see Flynn Downes back and doing well - It would make sense financially, tactically and on the British Homegrown quota.
Agree, now looking forward to the window and pre-season, would have dreaded a moyes new contract
We have to look to the future with optimism, I'm looking forward to next season very much now
Absolutely right Gonzo we have to get behind the new regime and embrace it with positive eyes
I’d also agree with the view that it’s a smart transitional move to go from defensive to all out attack so Lopo is the halfway Point in that transition just hope they reject the right ones like Zouma Ogbonna Ings Soucek Coufal and keep Johnson and Flynn Downes get a few youngsters into that team get them training together as the kids will love that and learn and progress far quicker Zaha and the Brazilian kid and Kilman or Abraham whoever it’s different from last year and that in itself excites me COYI ⚒
Wolves fan--- I’m surprised you didn’t approach Gary O’Neil but I’m grateful! you didn’t let me put things straight JL was treated brilliantly at Wolves he was allowed to spend which he did ! due to FFP we had to tread carefully the players we had to let go mostly couldn’t get in the side the football he insisted on was drab and predictable sure we avoided relegation due mainly to good fortune regarding the results of other threatened clubs He created a scenario where he would publicly slag us off culminating with the Spanish journalist I’ve forgotten his name where they did a pod they forced a situation which left wolves with no option but to let him go on the eve of the new season even then apparently they were generous The myth is the players couldn’t compete but if you research the squad at that time it was impressive with no shortage of talent possibly a couple of players short the truth is he wanted out there were rumours at the time spurs wanted him maybe that’s the reason don’t believe the wolves lied to me theory the truth is he wasn’t up to it if I had to choose between JL and Moyes it would be Moyes every time sorry to be negative but regarding Kilman whose our club skipper was dropped in it when he was paired up with Neil Collins a good player but they couldn’t play together and kilmans confidence was affected
Does anyone know if you have to be on the match bingo app to select bingo or is it an automatic win if your card comes in
If he has done his research and looked into how the fans have felt and all issues about this season, and if he takes it all in board and adapted his style for the best of every thing he can do well. If he has looked into every thing and choses to ignor then maybe not. But can only be positive and hoping to see what happens
We have got a big rebuild to do and we are not going to see how we play straight away. Its going to take time to see how he will set is team out so what ever happens lets back him and see what happens.
I agree Gonzo I’m actually warming to him the more I read about him. It’s apparent he can adapt his style of football depending on the players he has at his disposal so I’m excited to see how him and Tim can work together for next season. COYI
We all think we could do the job but facts are if we were plonked in that dressing room with the team staring back at us most of us would be out of our depth. Lopetagui is an experienced, diligent manager who given the tools could surprise us all.
Just hope J Lo and steitdman get on and work well together and Sullivan keeps his nose out and then we will be fine
I'm all for Flynn getting a chance, but (even though I am not objective on this) I wish WHU fans realized that Soucek is the Czech national team captain and absolutely dominant throughout all of Europe in several areas of the game. Either he should be utilized to his best potential, or sold.
Let’s actually back the manager, give him and Tim time to gel , get the squad /team they want and play in his style , positivity and backing 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Best thing about this appointment if/when it happens is that it is done early so he can assess the squad and academy players and if he as you say gonzo has been preparing for this for 2/3 months then that is a good thing.
Another great video agree with you totally, looking forward to a new season with a new coach, he was not my choice but will back him and I hope he gets a good reception on out first home game, coyi ⚒⚒
Irons⚒️
I welcome it and believe the club have got a good deal out of it. Initially he's on less than Moyes, but his deal is highly incentivised i.e a bonus for getting europe, league position etc etc. However, we do have to be realistic, with so many players coming in, top ten would be a good achievement. I would also prioritise League Cup, that's something we can win.
He may have been the cheap option. He may not be the manager we dreamed of. But what I can tell you is we will see a manager on a completely different level to what we've had before. In game management, tactical flexibility, winning mentality. All of these things and more is what we have to look forward to. Gone are the days of Allardyce, Grant, Bilic, Moyes. This IS a step up.
Gonzo
J Lo is a fresh start so he deserves time to sort “ his team “ out. Hopefully he Will utilise a full squad & not keep picking out of form players for the sake of it.
As you mentioned if Steiden is happy & on board then it’s all positive.
It's all or nothing for the board.
I have enjoyed the last 4 seasons. I really don't want us to go back to fighting relegation, selling all our star players, and not being able to attract quality players like who we have signed under Moyes.
Despite some bad performances, and defeats we also pulled off some amazing results and done so by playing to our strengths.
I think we had finally got a bit of stability. Challenging for Europe every season.
David Moyes put everything he had into the club and I have the upper most respect and thank him for that.
If the board have got this wrong, then they need to go too. If they got it right, then credit to them.
Clean slate might be benrama cornet Johnson Flynn

My first hope is that he bins off all the other coaches and brings in a new team
Didnt you coin the "Spanish Moyes"?
Does he know that there's such a thing as 'The West Ham Way', unlike a couple of our ex-employees 😂
I think even if Sully HAD offered DM a fresh contract, with him reporting and deferring all transfers to Tim, as subservient to Sully as Moyes was, it would have only been with a truckload of reluctance for Moyes to accept terms like that (if he were to choose to do so), so I think it's for the best all round that he is going. The only thing that concerns me slightly is that Lopetegui appears to be far from a yes man... not neccessarily a problem in itself, but he does seem to have a habit of falling out with people and rubbing them up the wrong way. Maybe I'm reading too much into that - sometimes a manager just isn't the right fit for a particular club... maybe he could fit in perfectly for us though. I think we have to afford him the benefit of the doubt and give him a chance to show us what he is capable of.
Huge fan of Flynn Downes here and so fitting to hear that news and I got to gut feeling he will thrive under Lopetegui or any other manager that gives him a chance and other youths as well
Yeah I'm quite buoyed now, feels like we have a professional at the wheel now, we needed something to cheer us up didnt we?!
Lopetegui will win us the league.
Don’t think so mate we couldn’t win it if we were the only team in it 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I actually hope we see the Cornet of Burnley and Lyon. I could see him working in Lopetegui's system. Would certainly save us a bit of wad buying another backup in that position.
This is the right appointment for us and right now. He will be coach not manager and this suits Tim and David style of running things.
Gonze i know how you feel we love your show here in cape town south africa
talk shte have given moyes a job hence the hate towards us i wouldnt mind but moyes declined a new contract but its the fans fault
Zaha would be home grown too which would be great. Zaha and Kilman replace Johnson and Cresswell in that regard.
Lopetegui in the past has been pretty solid and often impressive. There's always the danger he'll be another Pellegrini.
But that's the West Ham way.
Btw, Lopetegui coached Spain's U19 and U21 sides European titles, so he can't be too bad with young talent.
There's a difference between coaching youths when it's your job and trusting youths in the first team to keep you in a job.
@@DC-uf6ve But if you want to win trophies with youth players you have to know how to spot them, coach them and utilise them effectively.
@@nevillebartos3197 no, the youth just have to be good enough and the manager brave enough.

I hope Moyes asked for it to be made public, so he gets the send off he deserves. If not, this stinks as they should have sacked him and brought forward the appointment. But this is Sully we're talking about. Hoping more from him would be like trying to knit water.
I am always surprised that Sullivan didn't bring back Harry Redknapp. They both like a bargain and what looks like a dodgy deal.

I hope your right Gonzo, personally I have a close friend who is a Wolves season ticket holder and he told me he is a carbon copy of Moyles. And sorry to say we as fans have been asking for a more attacking manager this guy Isn't IT.
Lopetegui starting to grow on me 💪🏻
Not to set a low bar but I'll be happy next season if we get through the whole year without any of those 5-0 thrashings we've all experienced lately. 😎

Moyes. Lopa will join from next season.
Would love to see us sign Branthwaite from Everton to play alongside Kilman
Why didn't fight for Amorim?!
If he has done his research, then he's done what any new man in his position *should* have done: appropriate due diligence. The question is: has he baked in enough flexibility to his alleged plan to deal with any possible roadblocks in the rebuilding process? What if he can't get who he wants? Can he adjust to work with what he has or what he does get? Will be interesting to see.
It seems to me pretty obvious that Moyes wasn't gonna change or adapt to anything and it was "I'll get what I want or I'll take nothing," much to the detriment of the team.
Petition! Ah come on!
Do you think they will give Ben Johnson a chance as well? Do hope so.
wonder if benny comes back..??
The rush of negativity from the junk media (TalkSport) and various fans (including ours) about Lopetegui makes me hopeful in a strange way. He has something to prove and I think we could be surprised.
Who is taking the training
The Fact is is that Moyes is going and a better coach is replacing him. An updated squad is in the works. These are all positives for the club ⚒️
Just give the guy a chance ffs after all he’s got enough to contend with having to work with Sullivan so let’s just give him some support and get behind him and be thankful we haven’t got moyes anymore ⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒
Im prepared to give lopi a chance
Lopetegui is a top manager ... we gunna do very well next year
I’m optimistic. He literally managed Spains youth. He must develop youth players. Can’t wait to see your reaction when we start the first game of the season with 90% possession playing tikka tikka! 😂😂 I know you are not a big fan of possession based football.
I respect the Job David Moyes has done for our club, culminating in the trophy last year, however as a season ticket holder I was seriously considering calling it a day, fed up watching dull negative no possession football in our bowl. However with a new man at the helm I'm now feeling optimistic and looking forward to next season, bring it on COYI
If he doesn't make the same basic mistakes over and over whilst bemoaning the situation he's authored then it's a step up ain't it?
Also, how happy were Villa fans when Emeri rocked up, he hardly had a glowing premier league CV did he. Honestly, I'll moan with the best of em, but not about stuff people haven't done yet....
Also, given the dressing room ban Moyes enacted on Tim and Sullivan's path of least resistance behaviour I wouldn't be surprised if Sullivan engineered Moyes accidentally walking in on his zoom meeting with Tim and Lopo!?!? Wadya reckon Gonzo?!?

Reasons to be cheerfull ... drury 1 - 2 -3
Why should we all get uptight and upset over this appointment on just hearsay ? Let's get behind the next appointment, and see for ourselves what the new manager is about. Only then should we voice a opinion until we have concrete evidence that he lacks ability to do the job. Until then, let's back him, warm to him and unite 100% behind him,and until he proves all our misgivings are true .
