    West Ham have held productive talks with the former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui over replacing David Moyes this summer.
    Lopetegui, who has been out of work since last summer, has been on West Ham’s radar for several months and made a strong impression during discussions over the job. A final decision has not been made and there are alternative options to the 57-year-old Spaniard, who has spoken to Milan about replacing Stefano Pioli.
    Have a little guess as to whether this was taken before or after West Ham’s match at Crystal Palace.
    David Moyes, West Ham and a unique brand of pragmatism

    Rúben Amorim, the highly rated Sporting manager, flew to London for talks with West Ham’s co-owner, David Sullivan, on Monday. Intermediaries have also advanced the case of the Lille manager, Paulo Fonseca, who was interviewed by Sullivan in 2018.
    Lopetegui is yet to gain universal approval within West Ham, with some at the club of the view that the former Real Madrid, Sevilla and Spain manager is not the right fit and that a younger manager is needed. But there are doubts over whether West Ham, who are set to part company with Moyes when his contract expires at the end of the season, are prepared to pay Amorim’s buyout clause of €15m (£13m).

    If Sullivan actively prevents Steidten from doing his job, and he brings Lopetegui in, I don’t think I can back him. Never thought I’d say something like that, but I’m sick of being jerked around by this club. “Careful what we wish for” We were promised things from the board to get on board with them moving to the LS. They lied. All we’ve been ‘wishing for’ is what we’ve been promised. Lopetegui is giving the fans the middle finger and I won’t support that.

    Sullivan has and ALWAYS will be the biggest obstacle at our club. Things like Moyes, the stadium etc etc are mere distractions. It will ALWAYS come back to Sullivan. His mindset will never change cos he harbours an ambition of nothing more than steady premier league safety. Anything beyond that will require an increase in money he has to spend and he does not wanna do that. He simply wants to be the prestige of owning a premier league club. Nothing more and nothing less. To maintain that he will embrace mediocrity, a pair of safe hands, steady, efficient, reliable etc. He harbours ambition for nothing more than that which is why I simply don't care anymore. He owns the club and nothing I do, say, want or feel will make the slightest difference and I just don't need that kind of eternal frustration. Maybe other fans feel the same?
    Sullivan will get his way. Unless Tim changes his surname to Silkman or Salthouse then he is flogging a dead horse cos it seems those two characters are the only ppl Sullivan listens to. If I was Tim I would cut my losses, get out and leave Sullivan to it. Stop wasting your time cos your knowledge, intelligence and know how is simply being wasted on someone like Sullivan. Save your sanity and just go somewhere where you can do your job to the fullest.
    Lopetugi as an appointment just leaves me cold. Amorin was always a massive long shot but at least it showed ambition. Sullivan gets rejected by him and he immediately retreats to his default. No doubt accompanied with his hands raised in an apologetic posture and the phrase "well I did try" primed and ready to deliver. It's like asking the hottest looking woman at the club for a dance, getting rejected and then settling for the one with a slight tache and a noticeable dandruff problem. Take a chance, it fails so just return to safety and tried and trusted. Rinse and repeat. He will NEVER EVER change and because of that we will NEVER fulfil any potential we have as a club.

    Im not by any means saying this is a good strategy, but I imagine his sons would fancy a younger more exciting prospect like Amorim. Think you are wrong to suggest fans will be fully behind any new manger. After Moyes, this appointment needs to inspire people. From what I know he started off at Genoa & got sacked after 2 months & only 10 games into his first job.
      After Genoa he took over at Spezia who were tipped for relegation. Despite operating under a transfer ban, he managed to keep them up, taking four points off Genoa in the process. By September 2022, he had taken over as Bologna’s head coach.
      In his first season at Bologna he guided them to ninth - their highest league finish in more than a decade. After 29 games of the next campaign, he had the club in fourth place, improbably pushing for a Champions League spot.
      In keeping Spezia up in his first full season as a head coach, Motta focused more on defensive aspects. At Bologna, he has since shown his preference for a possession-based style. In nearly two seasons with Bologna, his side has placed in Serie A’s top five for most passes per 90 minutes, while averaging 56 per cent possession.

He doesn't. Sullivan has has fingers all over the latter and, as we have seen, too much alleged influence over player incomings thanks to his agents.

    Totally agree with Frankie when he says its not his job to pick the new manager. Moyes inners ask me a lot who would you replace moyes with then ? and i say its not down to me im not getting paid the big bucks to run the club as long as it is a progressive fresh man with a. attacking philosophy i dont care as long as moyes is moved on. As for Sullivan be nust canthelp himself . He has Stieden here and he still wants to stick his oar in to muxdy the waters . Like moyes he will never learn W⚓that he is.

    If you read up on Lopetegui, he's a pragmatic manager with no plan B if it goes wrong. Fuck me he's a Spanish Moyes. Sullivan prefers him cos he's out of work and wouldn't have to pay any compo. What the fuck does Sullivan know about football. This will end badly.

    One consideration for me is that I don't want a manager that feels he is bigger than West Ham. Moyes, Allardyce, Pelligrini to name a few (Amarim?), all give the impression that they are/were doing us a favour. Having a manager dismiss the club's history, style of play and size as insignificant likely isn't a good place to start. An open-minded, motivating man-manager who plays expansive football, with new ideas, advanced coaching and an eye on the academy development is my pick. Who that is? I don't know! But I bet Steidten does.

    Great show love to chat and fun game at the end but massive clear out needed I’d keep
    Bowen kudus Johnson Areola Antonio Alvarez Coufal Emerson Paquetta Agerd

    We are at the moment a mid table team. We can be linked with all sorts of managers but doesn't mean they are coming. The only pull is the transfer money and hoping that steidtman wouldn't be at a club unless there was a plan and ambition. Will a really good manager come to west ham because of those 2 plus points? I don't rate moyes whatsoever. However I think we are 3 years away from a really good manager. This next manager has to rebuild, it's not going to be easy. So in summary I think most managers will be better than moyes but I don't get the impression we will be pushing top 8 in the first 2 years. It's exciting enough just getting the dinosaur out.

  • @thomridgeway1438
    @thomridgeway1438 Před 16 dny +2

    Right, let's see how Sullivan, and Brady think, (yes she's more influential than you think - is like Grima Wormtongue in Lord Of The Rings - she hangs on Little Diddy's left shoulder like a Quasimodo hump. They both think managers are overrated and overpaid. They don't like paying for managers; and they certainly don't like paying compensation to managers, ever. Hence the reason they didn't sack Moyes, when they had plenty of rope to hang him with. The idea of Amorim was laughable. I can see Sullivan's face go deathly pale at the sheer thought of 12 million comp. So whoever it is, is out of work and probably useless. To get into their heads (which isn't recommended) you have to realize that money loss is absolutely dread to them; so they desperately crave security. It means they are going to play safe. They will not take risks. It won't be a young manager and it won't be a flamboyant, charismatic manager. They don't like anybody clever, who can dominate and outflank them. On that basis please don't build your hopes up that we will get a progressive dynamic attacking coach, we won't. Frankly any manager will be better than Moyes; as it like taking blinkers off a horse - that horse will gallop faster than ever. Just don't feel total despair when they suddenly announce that Moyes has a new 3 year contract .. it's very likely. He is the perfect glove puppet for them.

      See example A as to the David Moyes master plan. Around example F of the master plan is to be re hired by Sullivan (approx Dec/Jan 24/25) after a torrid start for the new man, with Brady putting Moyes on £15m a year, with total control over player transfers etc. 'We are not run like a circus anymore' 🤣☹️🤣☹️

    • @ultra5057
      @ultra5057 Před 15 dny

    @patrickjoel4041 Před 15 dny

    Agree with Frankie, Sullivan needs to trust Steidten that’s the bottom line. Sullivan has had his pick over the years of managers, not least Pelegríni that didn’t work out. For me the choice of manager is the most important decision a football club can make, get it wrong and it will have big consequences. Sullivan has really got to let go of the reins and let Steidten do his job.
