    In this video, I'm going to share one of the biggest regrets I had in practice. I used to recommend 1200 mg of calcium, especially to post-menopausal women for bone health and people with osteoporosis or osteopenia.
    People with osteoporosis lack calcium in their bones, but every osteoporotic person has excess calcium outside of the bone.
    Fifteen independent clinical trials found that people taking an extra 500 mg of calcium per day had a 30% increased risk for heart attacks and 20% for strokes. One study that followed 61,000 people over 19 years showed that people taking over 1400 mg of calcium per day had a 114% increased risk of heart attack.
    The average multivitamin is packed full of calcium carbonate. Coincidentally, ⅓ of all adults in America have calcification in their arteries. Consuming excess calcium doesn't mean it will go straight to your bones!
    Calcium has a vital role in cellular communication. There is 1000 to 10,000 times more calcium outside the cell than inside the cell. Too much intracellular calcium leads to cell death. In fact, calcium accumulation is an independent risk factor of all-cause mortality.
    Instead of taking large amounts of calcium for bone loss, vitamin C could help.
    At least 6000 mg of vitamin C daily, broken up into 2 to 4 doses, may help improve bone health. Adequate vitamin C may help suppress osteoclasts-the cells that break down your bone. It can also help the absorption of calcium into the bone.

    Wife just went to the doctor and they wanted to put her on calcium because she's in menopause. I said hold up I don't think so. Her calcium levels are normal on bloodwork, she eats plenty of dairy and leafy greens (we eat healthy whole foods), she resistance trains 4x a week for 2 hours at a time (read what that does for osteoporosis) and she supplements with D and K2 (plus other supplements including extra C) There's absolutely no medical necessity or reason for her to take a calcium supplements unless she wants to harden her arteries and have a heart attack but I'm kinda partial to having her around so nope.

      So I'm guessing she does the resistance training to avoid osteoporosis? Or was she diagnosed with it and reversed it? Just curious, thank you😁

      Well done. I've done the same for my mother as well and threw away her calcium tablets. The doctors gave her.

      @maryfolks9368 Actually we lift weights for general health and to keep the muscle from atrophy and bone density is just a side effect. Also with resistance training you can completely avoid frailty most of the time

      ​@@Drbergcould you do a video on Calcium and people with Achlorhydria? I was told that people with Achlorhydria have issues getting enough?
      Sometimes I think it is a problem, because if I get Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness from yardwork/other...if I start drinking A2/A2 milk is the ONLY thing that will help, otherwise it last for WEEKS...But if I drink up to a gallon over a day or two I recover in that time frame...and the "shift/benefit" starts within minutes to a half hour or so and just gets better the more I drink ... it's expensive to drink that much milk so regularly... I don't know what else might be better?

      Wondering if you have any information for Achlorhydria and adding calcium chloride?
      I have some sort of severe reaction to manufactured Citrate/Citric Acid so I can't take normal/highly absorbable calcium like everyone else... (It's probably the Black Mold and corn they use to make Citric Acid from...I seem to be very sensitive to mold and currently seeking to get away from current home w same issues)

    I recently had a bone density scan and my doctor was amazed ...said she has never seen such a wonderful bone density scan in a 60 year old... Never have I taken calcium. Vit D3 helps me with my bones.

      I take Berberine w Ceylon cinnamon complex 2000 mg, prenatal vitamins, advsnc d berberine hcl 500mg, milk thistle seed extract 1000 mg, magnesium citrate250mg, D3 125mcg, turmeric complex 500mg, potassium glauconite 595mg, Vit B12 1000mg, fish oil 1000mg w Omega 3/300mg, vit B6 100mg, black cohosh 40 mg, Vit E180mg, VitB1 100mg, B complex plus vit C, ( just saw this contains 175 mg calcium, vit c 300mg, thiamin /b1 15mg, riboflavin /B2 14.3mg, niacin 50mg, vit B4 5mg, pantotheric acid 10mg) I also do Reiki daily ( i am a master reiki practitioner of Sekhem-Seichim Reiki SKHM and Usui Reiki. )

    Calcium without K2 and D3 present at the same time can be extremely dangerous.

      It's the most easily absorbed form.

    The main point, is that we are all here to learn and do research. At some point, we have all been either misinformed or lied to. Thank God we have the ability to continue learning, increasing our knowledge, and making those corrections when they occur. So please, we cannot dwell on our past mistakes...     There's no limits on charges for murder, so WHY are these pharmaceutical companies not held liable for killing our loved ones? THEY KNEW the dangers OF EVERYTHING THEY CREATED. That greed makes them not care. 🤬

      My Mom trusted the medical community completely. I finally convinced her to check with her doctors to find out if she was on too many meds; toxicity. Turns out she was. In the end, she died prematurely, I believe, because they were constantly subjecting her to one operation and unnecessary procedure after another. Heartbreaking

      at least 20 years ago i hrard a doc on tv talking about taking extra calcium causing jeart attacks. at the time noone paid any attention to the advice. this doc also said it was calcium consumed in youth and teens that had far reaching effects on levels later in life. i began to pass on what i heard only to find derision etc. slowly as time passed a few people began to medically acquire the same results.

      Too add, avoid any and all foods that are fortified with artificial calcium - Calcium Carbonate, Tricalcium Phosphate, etc, usually present on bottom shelf aisles and in commonly preserved foods in cans and jars.

      @@lars2894 Calcium Carbonate is also highly used in “Fortified” milk and dairy alternative products. Like almond, coconut, or oat milks.

      @@FrenchCocoa369 It's only the bottom shelf nondairy milks that fortiy everything. Mid to top shelf brands are usually safe!
      Elmhurst, Malk, Hazelicious, and Three Trees are all good options, as well as "organic releases" from low-end brands like Califia.

      While these are all healthy, good food choices, they do not carry enough nutrients to reach a therapeutic dose.
      Supplements or even IV infusions will provide the high levels of vitamin C that stimulate bone growth, combined with the other necessary vitamins Dr Berg highlights in his video.
      The book World Without Cancer, G Edward Griffin, backs up what Dr Berg is saying.

    Calcium channel blockers are often prescribed for high blood pressure, but they can also help improve other chronic diseases like ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer's. They can also decrease the risk of coronary artery spasms and angina. Research suggests that calcium channel blockers reduce the risk of all-cause mortality.
    Instead of taking large amounts of calcium for bone loss, vitamin C could help. Scurvy is a condition caused by severe vitamin C deficiency. Here are some of the symptoms of scurvy:
    • Bone resorption
    • Decreased synthesis of collagen
    • Osteolysis (destruction of bone)
    • Osteonecrosis (death of bone)
    • Osteopenia
    • Osteoporosis
    • Oxidative stress/inflammation
    • Calcification outside the bone
    At least 6000 mg of vitamin C daily, broken up into 2 to 4 doses, can help improve bone health. Adequate vitamin C can suppress osteoclasts-the cells that break down your bone. It can also help the absorption of calcium into the bone.

    The people I trust the most in my life are the people who openly say what they “regret” and want to share so that they can help me. I have no patience or trust for people who put their own identity of pride before Loving others. I regularly tell my kids any time I learn something where I realize I would change the past… what I regret or wish I could do differently and let them know that I’m telling them in hopes that they can free themselves up by learning from my own learning! They’ve told me it’s one of the reasons they feel they can talk to me about anything as adults. Dr. Berg is WISE and always wants the best for us… even if it means letting us know he found something of his past learning that needs a shift!! Thank you, Dr. Berg and team!! We Love you!!

    There's a bunch of post menopausal women with painful calcification in their uterus, I questioned my Gyn doctor about it her response was, "Oh! That's normal since they're post menopausal,"
    My response! "If its a painful buildup that's not normal." Medicine has failed women, IMO!

    Yes, years ago, I got that advice too. I thought my heart palpitations and arrhythmia was because I was overweight. Took a long time before I made the connection.

      Was told the same and I did for a while. It did not make me feel good. Constipated. Sometimes I think it’s best to just listen to our bodies rather than doctors who spent two years learning about pharmaceuticals rather than the body. Dr. Berg is a chiropractor and had four full years of learning about the body.

      Instead I took it & ended up with severe osteoporosis , 14 horrendously painful vertebral fractures! Had I only known ! I finally cut out the calcium supplements & I’ve been taking 5.000 Vit D 3 daily plus 400 mg of K2 for a few years now & thankfully I’m finally seeing an improvement in my bone density!

    I always try to avoid supps that contain calcium, it was just common sense to me. If you think about, we are filtering tap water to get the calcium out of it, so that the water is not too hard. Why would we then feed it back to us through pills. Doesnt make any sense. Calcium that is in milk and dairy is sufficient and the natural way for the body to get what it needs.

    I am 25 and broke my foot and ankle twice. I was recommended many many times to take calcium, but my primary care doctor would not provide a clear answer and how much calcium I should be taking and out of the fear of taking too much. I never took this supplement. I’ve been referred to cardiologist several times throughout the years due to palpitations so thank you very much for this video. Who knows if I would still be here today had I taken that calcium

      20 years ago, after entering menopause & finding I already had the beginnings of osteopenia, I stupidly trusted the doctors & took calcium supplements .
      4 years later, I developed an aortic valve murmur. Off to the cardiologist I went, who informed me that the leaflets on my valves were calcifying. I had mild aortic valve sclerosis. I did question if it was related to my calcium supplementation. Not to worry, the cardiologist said! Mine was hereditary. Blindly I trusted him. 10 more years of haphazardly taking my calcium. Then I just stopped. Too late... it had advanced...now I have moderate aortic valve stenosis. Ha! It wasn't hereditary after all. Per another cardiologist, who said it is never hereditary! Possibility now of needing valve replacement in the future.😢
      Dr. Berg, do you know if any regimen that could reverse this valve calcification? Proteolytic enzymes?
      I am 70 now, & feel so betrayed by the medical system, and my own stupidity! I am on keto,(off/on for a year, due to caring for an elderly mother) down 40 pounds though! Feeling good, but need to lose 30 more.

    Vit c requires copper and zinc as cofactors. All 3 make collagen. Other things also build collagen. Boron is also important for calcium retention and putting it into the bones.

      @@YosemiteLee 15 zinc to 1 copper, (15:1 ratio) is roughly the ratio when zinc depletes copper. So a lot of people made themselves copper deficient by taking lots of zinc over the past 4 years while ignoring copper. I prefer about 3-6 zinc to 1 copper ratio. I fluctuate depending on my symptoms. Initial low zinc symptoms is typically sneezing/increased allergies.

    I share a simple recipe that I created recently very tasty and rich in calcium.
    It's a sandwich 🥪 that I take to work made with 2 thin slices of homemade bread that I make myself with my sourdough, a mixture of wholegrains organic flours and loaded with seeds (good fats) and I spread on it a good butter, tahina (sesame seeds roasted and processed), walnuts and a bit of maple syrup. It's delicious 😋 fulfilling and the sesame is rich in calcium!!
    I know that "bread" is a sort of forbidden word in this channel but I'm Italian...😊

    I've noticed my blood calcium has been slightly high for years. I've asked my Dr and they said not to worry. I've also suffered from anxiety, depression and severe stomach pain and digestive issues (amongst other things) for years. I asked again about my calcium level. They FINALLY investigated. My PTH is 140! My mom also always said take calcium, glad i didn't listen.

    My 87 yr old mother just had her drs appt and they asked if she was still taking her calcium. She’s got congestive heart failure. Just put her on a statin with calcium in addition to her calcium and other meds. I don’t say anything because the dr is obese and has no clue about good health. Listening to her repeat the talking points the drug rep gives when pushing the drug just made me shake my head.

      She DEFINITELY needs to be taking a good quality supplement of CoQ10 if she's on a statin. Statins deplete CoQ10, which is a necessary substance in the body for heart health

      Wow, my mom is also 87 and I insisted she stop statins 8 years ago, somehow docs kept convincing her and every time I visited in summer I’d have to remind her what she’s not taking. They’re all drug pushers. They make it so hard to advocate for good nutritional healing for our elders. 😢 keep up the effort!

    Agreed. I found out I was taking extra calcium hidden in a blend of exogenous Ketones. The BHB blend is a proprietary blend of BHB ketones, caffeine and other things- they don’t have to list the specific ingredients. I only found out by a deep search because I was worried about the whole calcium in my arteries thing. I understand calcium is used as some kind of binder or additive to many capsules and pulls.
    I have little hard lumps on my elbows. I pray my arteries are not hard like old crusty pipes.

    Before I saw this video, I chewed 2 tums for heartburn ( daily thing)
    Oh & I just had a heart cath 2 days ago & my widow maker was 8O% blocked ( thankfully my heart Dr was able to stent it!) I also had 2 other blockages that he wasn’t able to stent.
    So glad I saw your video. I’ve got to cut back on Tums! Sometimes I take 6 daily. 😮
    PS Ladies, I hurt in the center of my chest for almost 4 weeks before I went to my cardiologist! I’m blessed that I didn’t suffer a major heart attack. Please don’t ignore chest pain.

    I was diagnosed with ostiopinia in my 30's. My body REFUSED calcium supplements. Now I know why.
    I'm glad to hear about the magnesium because I swapped out using table salt for celtic sea salt which have 4 types of magnesium and many health benefits.

    This is another example how knowledge evolves and doesn't stay static. My problem is this. People with serious conditions like cancer, depend on credible information to improve whatever treatment side effects they might have. It's extremely frustrating to deal with "change of direction" from experts you trust, leading to loss of trust and search for other experts, just to experience the same thing all over again.

    Dr Berg. Please opine on Grow Bone Calcium (from organic algae) and strontium. On cautionary advice of my doctor to not take too much calcium, I only take half the daily dosage plus high D3 and K2 mk7. Also take Magnesium glycinate/malate, raw B complex. Omega 3, Elderberry w/vit C and zinc.
    I was diagnosed with vit c depletion following covid and refusal to eat fruits. Resulting in scurvy. Got that under control and eat fruits and berries all day long. Flowing scurvy, my Dexascan showed significant decrease in bone density. Doing OsteoStrong which increased my strength and hopefully vibration plates will help! Just concerned about calcium since I can"t do dairy (but eat my greens).
