I’m going to be honest i really hate the toxic: “family is everything” mentality because it really creates a lot of turning in rather than reaching out. You see it a lot in “90 day fiancé” and “sMothered” it’s these crazy over involved families that can’t let people be apart because everything is “it’s family” it’s such a problematic message
Yeah! People always say “blood is thicker than water” when they talk about family but the actual saying is “the blood of a covenant is thicker than the water of the womb” which means the family we choose and the promises to be loyal to people we care for matter more than our biological family.
It can be on the extreme, but the way I grew up with my family we handle it like we come together when something gets hard one one of us but let each other live our lives
Yup, my family (parents) were really a suite/negligent to me growing up, my mom will always use that sentiment to guilt trip me when I want to cease contact with her.

In my senior year of high school I had a fully fledged doctor-diagnosed caffeine addiction. I was drinking 8-10 cups a day (I know, calm down) because I wasn’t eating properly and slept 4 hours a night (needed the marks to get in to law school). I used to get the most crippling headaches and withdrawals when I had to go an extended time without coffee but not ONCE did I ever cry, scream or yell at anyone over it. Even when I quit cold turkey. Caffeine addiction is real but it’s not a heroin addiction. It makes you feel sick and shit when you don’t have it but it doesn’t alter your whole personality to that point. If you’re screaming at someone over coffee, good chance you scream at them over other stuff too.
Caffeine addiction just hit me outta nowhere I hadn’t had a Diet Coke in like 12 hours and I was like “ow why does my head hurt why am I so irritable” oh oops it’s because I haven’t had caffeine today. 👀 there was no yelling, screaming, or crying. Just some self introspection and changes to my behavior and diet 🤷♀️
but the thing is she did have coffee, it just wasnt on the temperature she likes like??
Theres a lady I know who has a caffeine addiction and she is the most polite person in the entire world. I, in the other hand, black out from my migraines and apparently I do some nasty things 😅

What I hate about Niki is how she uses mental illness like a personality traits, she’s always saying how she has such a bad anxiety but when Gabi told her to get help she get all angry
I’ve been following her for about 5 years and niki has more to her then just her anxiety. I respect how you feel, but I think her point of including this in the show was to make it more of a reality show, and relatable. But I do respect how you feel, just wanted to state my point:) but I do hate when girls act like it is a personality trait and I get your point
i agree it’s not a personality but when you have anxiety that severe it’s the only thing on your mind if affects every part of you so it’s going to seem like it’s part of ur personality bc it mental consumes everything to the point where that’s what becomes ur personality idk if that makes sense.
Anj Rana coming from a person who has had serve anxiety for a long time I do the get the point your trying to make although I think it’s okay to talk openly about anxiety I also think it comes to a point where yes it’s okay to talk about it but if you are you shouldn’t get mad at someone for pointing out how you can get help and yes I do get the point if you’ve had it for so long it becomes a huge part of your life (therefore affecting your personality) although the illness isn’t your personality it does effect it even if you don’t mean to :) thanks for stating your option
Himiko Toga Am currently suffering from depression and a severe social anxiety disorder, also I’m under medication. It’s not easy and yes it’s okay to openly talk about it. But she presents it in a theatrical almost not real way, just as how mental illness are bad presented in movies. I don’t want people using mental issues as a way of appealing relatable or as a story line in a show. Nikki DeMartino has enough money and a platform to get help and present her issues in a professional/ respectful way, like the battle we all fight in different ways. Many people in this world can’t accessed to proper help bc of economic factor or bc its a tabú in their society, it’s totally irresponsible of her to watch the show being edit and let herself show like that.

Lillian Rose Yep. It was absolutely horrible, that’s when I realized what a disgusting person she is.
I’m torn on Niki. While watching her it seems clear that she’s struggling with a lot but her behavior and actions towards others are unacceptable. She should have sat this season out or she should have done some serious work on herself prior to filming. Also I didn’t love how everything was centered around her relationship. Everything about her attitude and relationships seemed unhealthy but she definitely was not ready to make a change. I think she would benefit from acknowledging her poor behavior and apologizing but I doubt that will happen.
She has addressed that in new videos, shes also struggling with mental health so take the show with a pinch of salt.
This really bothered me too. Even when Nate would be in the same house sometimes even the same room just talking to his best friend Kyle it was like he did something SO wrong! Yet homegirl is legit with her friends it seems ALL the time! Her weird obsession with Nate needing to be around her is very unhealthy. I know they are young, but that type of clingy is what ruins relationships.

"Friends who hate each other" is my least favorite reality show trope.
On one hand, I've cried over the dumbest shit imaginable. Sometimes it's the straw that breaks the camel's back, sometimes it's anxiety- or PMS-related. Kinda weird she went with "I'm addicted to coffee, y'all."
She literally did that and didn't even care to say sorry to anyone, also, Remember thas Jessie's professor died while she was on the show ans she started crying and everyone was comforting her and Nikki said, and I quote "Well, that's just a part of life" WHAT? In the same episode that she cried about not having iced coffee

I think gab I just wasn’t really the main plot to any part of this particular show but I absolutely noticed that type of stuff in previous seasons. I think she just seems more chill compared to niki if that makes sense.

I think a big part of the reason Niki was so mean and dismissive to Gabi is bc she thinks Gabi does all the nice things in the show just for the cameras. Back in their older videos, Gabi was always shady & mean to Niki and I honestly think Niki is fed up.Obvs Niki isn't innocent either but Gabi always treated her like she was the 'lesser twin' so Niki's animosity doesn't surprise me.
F. Kassiem in what way? I think niki’s animosity stems from her own insecurities. Like season one she has a huge fight because everybody was on habits side of one of their arguments. She’s always felt like the lesser twin, but I don’t really see where she’s been treated as such by Gabi.

I have diagnosed anxiety, depression, and obsessive compulsive disorder. Those have compiled turning into nasty fights or panic attacks with people I love. I still make sure to take care of them and apologize after. Your friends should be empathetic but you should treat them the same
i have diagnosed OCD as well and it’s embarrassing when i freak out and snap at someone because i’m anxious. but i always say sorry and nikki should’ve addressed that
That’s exactly how I feel. It’s okay to snap, it happens and no one can handle mental health perfectly all the time. But to play it off as your friends shaming your mental health and never apologizing or owning up to it is a bit problematic to me.

Yeah you can't just use your mental health as an excuse to be an arsehole. Sometimes because of my mental health, I am a total arsehole. More often than not, it's the people I love the most that get it the worst. I always feel terrible. When I apologise I try and explain that I'm aware how my illness affects others, and give people a chance to talk about that, and let them know that I appreciate them. I try my hardest to not let my mental health negatively affect other people, and when it does I always take accountability.

THANK YOU! I’ve been saying this about them for a while now! I can’t get myself to feel sorry for niki about being compared to gabi when that is constantly what they decide to make their content centered on! They could make a billion other videos doing anything else besides “who’s the better twin” but instead the choose not to! They are the only sibling/twins I’ve seen on CZcams who have this weird competitive/almost hatred dynamic going on and it’s really hard to watch.
I think a large part of why they make those videos is because they think that’s what their audience wants. Doesn’t make it healthy, but it probably brings in the most views since the twin thing is a big focus of their channel. That and they might not have any other video ideas.

I'm trying to figure out why they still make and format their content for teeny-boppers when they both just turned 25 recently. I feel like once you start making extremely superficial content based around middle schoolers and young teens you're almost trapped in that bubble. I've seen it with MyLifeAsEva, AlisaMarie, MiaStammer, etc. And they have all come out at one point and time and said they don't really identify with all this preteen content they are making and that they've outgrown it, how they wanna start being more real, or sometimes they scale back. It's a horrible bubble to be placed in once you've placed yourself there. Look at all the Disney channel kid stars, JoJo Siwa, etc. It's so weird that women in their mid to late 20s still make this content and you can tell it's just to satisfy their younger audience. As a 27 year old female I don't relate to ANY of them because they're not keeping it real.
Yes! I dont understand why they trap themselves by continuing to cater towards a younger audience. Why didn't they contunue to grow and make more mature content over the years? Their audience would have grown with them.. Instead they just keep attracting pre teens/teens.

I’m a fan of their channel. I love their style and tend not to get involved in any of the typical CZcams drama. What I can say is as a girl that’s their age, I think it’s incredibly bizarre how grown women who are identical twins cringe at the thought of even hugging each other...what’s even stranger is that they’ve both admitted to low self esteem yet keep comparing each other. I’m assuming it’s all for content/money but still so toxic especially considering they have such a young fan base.
I'm 20 y/o and have a twin sister We're close but don't like to hug each other.. I also have low self esteem yet keep comparing myself (in my head) to my twin sister despite knowing how unhealthy it is and that I should stop but it's very difficult so I decided to go to a psychologist to deal with these problems and it's a long process. Every relationship is different..
However I do agree that comparing each in a conscious way like making videos about it is very unhealthy and they should stop

They aren’t identical, they lie about that. They’re fraternal. They used to admit it, then they realized it’s better for their brand to be identical. Go watch Gabi’s old 50 facts about me. “Number 3- I’m a fraternal twin.” Then they made some bazaar, “dna test,” video a couple years ago claiming that they’ve gone their whole life never knowing what kind of twins they are(which is absolutely impossible, the mom would have known before they were ever born). They’re just full of shit all the way around.

I like how you’re honest about anxiety, as someone who suffers myself with this. It’s bias of us to sit here and say we don’t maybe sometimes lash out during an episode but exactly as you said it’s not an excuse and something you should definitely claim and work on.

OMG OKAY PLEASE HELP BRING ATTENTION TO THIS ABOUT AD’S GABI DOES ❗️❗️❗️ I’ve tried to bring this to attention but there’s this “current” bank card gabi promotes and it’s in the video where she tries on bikinis for 13 min straight that was posted earlier this year. I remember her promoting that card a couple of times and out of boredom I googled it and it’s a huge SCAM. People have reported that their entire checks have been stolen and it’s so sad. I like gabi a lot and I would hope she would look into something like that before promoting it...it just doesn’t sit right with me that a lot of people, almost ALL, have had their income stolen by this company and no one is talking about this shady “credit card company” 😓 as much a I like gabi, after seeing that I lost so much trust in her. So many rely on their paychecks and that’s one of the major selling points to this company is that you can get your direct deposit faster. It makes me so sad to think they pay influencers with stolen money :/

I have watched every season. In the past, I have felt like some people were being over dramatic and rude, but I just reasoned out: "it's a reality show, there needs to be drama." But this season was different.
I can't say I don't like Niki anymore, but I do think the show was trying to frame her as the "rude, privileged one." Maybe they did so because it was true, I don't know. I don't know them personally.
I know Niki suffers with a plethora of mental health issues. I do too. However, I have learned, the hard way, that just because you are not mentally healthy, it doesn't mean you can be rude to everyone. I know I am guilty of this. Sometimes, in the middle of a panic attack or a depression fit, words slip out. In the past I have said "It's just how my brain works, it's not my fault." Thanks to my mom for pointing it out to me, I now know that I still shouldn't be rude and if I say something mean, I need to apologize and try to not slip into that trap again.

Niki has had meltdowns and anxiety attacks in every season of their little reality show. It’s up to her (and no one else) to be proactive about her physical and mental health and find healthy coping skills. They’re in their mid twenties but they act 13.

I can't say I haven't burst into tears because I didn't get my coffee but that is because I'm depressed and get bad pms and sometimes when little things go wrong I can break down. But I never blame anyone else and usually do a little frustration cryb and then nap.

I've watched a lot of reality tv in my time, never religiously - but if an episode of Teen Mom or Dance Moms was on back in the day I'd watch it and they never paint the people as good people, that's not why people watch reality tv. It's for the drama of the fights and all that. So I don't really understand why a CZcamsr would want to risk the image they have 100% control over on their channels but letting reality tv producers make a show on them. Like they can't be blind to the fact that most people hate watch these shows vs the people who would watch youtube because they love the creator. The two just don't mix.
thank u for addressing being accountable while having mental illnesses. i had many friends that used this 'mental illness' as a catch-all to discount the harm they had done and had to walk away from them because of how exhausting it was. as someone with diagnosed schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder, there are often many times i act out ''irrationally'' but the second step is to move past the guilt and shame and realise that people can get hurt from your actions whether you like it or not. I've been working on it at therapy, on and off, and I'm so glad that you're one of the CZcamsrs i follow that talk about mental health as sensitively and as authentic as you did. it feels.. less isolating.
And now Niki is probably the more liked one for not being the one who pulled that OF stunt

As a follower of both Niki and Gabi, I can truly appreciate this video. I began watching the girls back in 2015 while I was in college (their content was relatable) however, through the years Gabi has truly stepped up and Niki... she’s just so focused on persuading everyone she’s not like the other girls and she’s not like Gabi, that it’s easy to lose focus on what she is truly trying to say

I just watched your video on the evolution of Niki and Gabi and I was so sure I already watched a similar video about how Niki was less popular and more problematic twin. I'm just fascinated at how quickly this has flipped and it's almost bizarre to see such detailed documentation of their emotional and career development. We are truly living in the Truman Show. It's terrifying
my respect for Gabi in this season went📈📈📈 because she was really just trying to be rational and be there for Niki but Niki just came of as really bratty and really mean for no reason (especially to Gabi)
I'm 6 months late to this but I love that you don't wear fake lashes, it's quite rare in the beauty world but it's way more realistic to everyday life and I love seeing makeup looks this colorful without a huge extra lash on, cute!! ✨💕
I am a middle aged woman and I love watching Gabi's vlogs, she is sweet and has a cute relationship. Her aesthetic is really appealing to me. I got sucked in to watching N&G take the Bahamas and watched the whole season even though it was definitely trash. Also I think Gabi said in a vlog or in the show that she didn't want Rachel to come back and the producers agreed she was too boring so she had to step up her drama. Rachel said she wanted to be able to stay on the show and had to act out so I think that is why it came off so strangely.. She is typically not into drama at all. It is definitely a side effect of anxiety and panic disorder to snap at people but you are right, Niki needs to take responsibility for her bad behavior no matter what the reason.

The circle was so boring lol tho I must say it was kind of nice to see how they (generally) treated each other well for such a fake like face-value kinda show

I use to be a sub of them, a few months in I realized how selfish and immature they both are. It sucks because I did enjoy them but then you see past the smoke and mirrors and see who they actually are. Gabi is super flashy in your face and niki is a giant cry baby Anyways lol love you!❤

I have several disabilities, including Anxiety. Those who use it as a reason for being nasty, frustrate me. People have to take responsibility for their own stuff and not use a diagnosis as a reason they make the rest of us who work really hard to own our BS. I won’t watch this, it will piss me off.

I watch the show because it’s like my garbage tv guilty pleasure. I agree with ALL of your points but for some reason it’s just a show I have on in the background while I’m cooking or something. I’ve been WAITING for you to talk about Niki and Gabi I’m so curious to hear your other opinions on their drama. Also the coffee thing was appalling lol.
No cap, I LOVEEEE their reality TV series and I'm 21 ... I do have some comments on it. I've watched them for a while and for a very long time, Gabi was the one receiving the hate comments. I think that when Gabi started being more honest about work she's had done, her struggle with mental health, her personal health issues, people saw here as a real person instead of a CZcams personality. I think Niki has yet to reach that point and that's why people call her out so much. I had such a hard time sympathizing with Niki and i have my struggles with mental health but that was wow.
Gabi seems to have stopped caring over the years and Niki seems to care more now. I wasn't a fan of Niki bashing Gabi as if Gabi wasn't defending her this entire season. Gabi also acknowledges that she's been a crappy sister and friend and apologizes but Niki has such a hard time saying "I'm sorry". Like dude you're 25. It's not that difficult.
I feel like Niki victimizes herself too much and Gabi tries to pretend that she's always been such an amazing sister. I see Gabi working on that but it's hard taking Niki's "I'm working on myself" at face value when it doesn't feel like it.

Thank you for pointing out the toxicity of this friend group and highlighting that you actually GET TO chose your friends, and that where there is this kind of yelling and talking behind the backs of each other is not a healthy friendship or connection. Im sad that maybe their younger viewers may think that this is what a healthy, "family"-like friend group looks like.
