- I have been lucky to drive lots of very high performance cars and I often get asked which is my favourite. Well if I had a spare £200,000 then it is the McLaren 600LT that has stolen my heart !
The 600LT had already changed to way a define a supercar on track and thanks to McLaren New Forest, I got to experience one for the first time on the road. We put the cameras on the car, turned them on and went for a drive. One take !

When I saw the title I expected the tyre roar and ride quality to drown out your voice! Honestly astonishing such a track-focused car can ride so well, so hopefully this car doesn't suffer the same reliability issues so many other Mclarens have had. Great video as usual, one-take reviews definitely something I would like to see more of :)
Glad you liked the One Take. I had no choice but to film it like that but it worked out OK. At cruising speed it really is very civilised in the cabin 👍

What an immense car 😍 I was actually there today. I took my 5 year old son in to show him some supercars. He was amazed at all the cars. The 600LT was my favourite by far, especially in that spec 👌🏻

Lotto win would get me one and a house with a big garage, so I could put one of these in there, plus a few other “toy’s” (R56 Cooper S JCW, Abarth 595, Audi S5 coupe to name a few from my bucket list!)
But for the moment, I shall continue to enjoy my trusty 17 plate Suzuki Swift (3 cylinder! 998cc) as its a hoot to drive. And I get 56mpg around town.

Cow just casually strolling down the middle of the road! It seems there is more sound insulation in the car as you were able to hold a conversation. Less tiring on a longer journey. Great review as always. Glad I could help identify the plane you put on Instagram earlier. 👍🏻

The only problem with this car is supply, you never have a Porsche GT car registered as a demo not to mention sat for sale (at a discount) in showrooms. Mclaren needed to keep LT as a halo sub brand and they have cocked production up totally.
That's why the 675LT is the car to have. Limited to just 500/500 and was sold out in 2 weeks when launched

Saw a 600LT at Beaulieu recently - possibly this car. Not the spec. I would have chosen, but it did look really good on this car. McLarens are one of those cars that I think always look better in the flesh.

I`d be happy to have one of these and live in a caravan! Beautiful in every way .Liked the super fast paddle shift. so smooth. You could drive all day in that and no sore knees ,cramp etc.(ok, you will know what i mean in 20 years time, LOL ) great vid, and fun to watch. Those cows don`t care what you`re driving. Just wait til you meet a pig!!!

Converted to new dream car
The edge of that carpet on the parcel shelf looks like the cat’s been at it :) Spoke to these guys years ago when they were Straight Eight Bentley. A more affable set of car salesman I am yet to meet. Ended up buying a Ferrari 550 from elsewhere but if I had the money today I’d have a McLaren. The Ferraris are somehow too digital set against their history. That’s not their fault of course it’s just that the McLarens are just ‘of their time’, without all the baggage.

Is the 600LT the loudest in the range as I’ve heard that a lot of McLarens are quietly subdued?
Not sure if it's the loudest but it does sound pretty good 👍
675LT is still the loudest. pops and bangs on both upshifts and downshifts. Its like a shot gun going off at 5,000 rpm

The F1 Hydraulic suspension and active aero of the 675LT makes all the difference and separates the 600LT SPORTS Series from the SUPER series
675 struggled and got lapped at knock hill a few weeks ago , 600 lt is special .
I did wonder when I heard that McLaren had opened a dealership in the New Forest, what about that 40 MPH speed limit !. Ferrari are in Lyndhurst, but on the edge of the New Forest.
McLaren sure do some great cars.
McLaren are on the edge of the Forest too. Just a couple of miles from 'normal' roads 👍
How would you compare it spacewise to the R8. Ive driven an R8 and find it pretty spacious but the Maclaren looks so much smaller
I reckon the McLaren has more storage. Larger front boot for sure due to no Quattro and the parcel shelf if bigger. However I think the McLaren cabin feels tighter and is more tricky to enter and exit due to the huge sills 🤔

Outright performance is very similar but the McLaren feels a lot sharper and dare I say it more special 😬

The GTR is a very fast car but I personally wouldn't put it in the supercar category 🤔

Afternoon Peter just think for the price of that bugatti you could buy every car that McLaren make and still live a comfortable life. Did you let harry have a go in the Audi afterwards, and what comparisons did you get between the two. Regards Simon.
Wow...what a thought ! Sadly Harry wasn't insured to drive the Audi. Performance wise they are both very similar. The Audi is the supercar you would drive every day and the McLaren is you weekend and track day toy 👍

They have their reliability issues for sure. I guess best experienced as an owner 🤔
TGE couldn't flip it that's why and when he was staring at a loss he tried to back the car to McLaren making up a load of minor issues to suggest it wasn't fit for purpose. When they didn't bow down to his you tube influencer status he got the right arse with them, hence why he is barred from McLaren dealers

Yep 675LT is still the king and probably still will be even when the 765LT comes out IMHO. Its an iconic car and a future classic guaranteed
Gazza Brownhigh I agree, I just think it was such a well designed car, before McLaren were so focused on aero, the 675lt is still ballistic too but looks beautiful at the same time
Yeah McLaren went overboard with the 675 to ensure the LT car and brand was a halo product and they got it spot on. The 600 LT is good for a sport series car but IMHO all the aero stuff looks a bit aftermarket and just stuck on, not cohesive at all. I've never been a fan of the 720S looks despite it being an awesome car. Its grown on me a bit just through familiarity but its not a good looking car IMHO. The 765LT no doubt will be fantastic but its not just about outright performance and bigger and bigger bhp. All of these cars are way too fat for the public roads hence Peds comments on the 600LT being enough for him. Driving engagement and fun has to be the priority and lets where the 675LT scores big time as well as the drop dead gorgeous looks
If they release the 765 lt won’t senna owners be just slightly peeved to say the least? Forking out 750,000 to 1,000,000 on the car and then no time later a car that trumps it
Still think the Senna will be quicker on track due to downforce and brakes 👍

Before you spend your monies, look at the 911 GT3 RS. It's got les HP (520hp) than the 600LT and old Roger Bailey raves about it. More than normal for a Porsche nut :-))...

We do indeed, and if you watch my Living with the R8 film I actually say you would probably have more fun on the public road in a fast hot hatch. However, these cars provide a very special driving experience even when driven within the legal limits of the road. With amazing acceleration and overtaking capability and such auditory pleasure. Oh, and thanks for called me a kid...that hasn't happened for quite a few years 😜

I’ve been an advanced driver for over 12 years. I love driving and don’t see the roads as a race track. That is why I also have a race licence and do my fast driving there 👍
