didn't even know there was a thing comic, one of the best films ever always wondered why there wasn't a 2nd film, thinkthis would have been a good story to tell on screen with a few changes !! as always keep up the amazing work

yes as a sequel, would be amaing! the prequel could have been so much better if they kept it to practical effects then mainly cgi!!
The reason why a sequel was never made is very simple actually. It all comes down to MONEY. When Carpenter's The Thing was released in 1982, it like the first Blade Runner (which also came out that same weekend in June 1982 as The Thing) flopped at the box office. ET was still huge at the box office at the time and it overshadowed EVERYTHING. Both Blade Runner and The Thing didn't get popular until home video and then people started to notice them as amazing films (I haven't seen Blade Runner yet.. yeah I know I am behind the times,lol). Most critics at the time also panned both films, including Ebert, they changed their reviews since then but when they were first released they both got panned by critics and science fiction fans alike.

Pixar The Great Blade Runner just got a sequel so fingers crossed the thing gets the same treatment.
They should make another movie of this sequel story, and they should bring back John Carpenter to do it.

If I remember correctly multiple members of MacReadys team touched contaminated body’s and did not get infected so how did the soldiers get infected especially since we clearly see them on panel the entire time

I guess the only way to maintain continuity is to say that touching the Thing either can or doesn't have to infect you. Maybe the chances are generally in your favor, but it's not guaranteed you're clean. It depends on many factors including on if your immune system can suppress it.

@@jhevgainz2307 Brazilians speak Portuguese. Argentina Speaks Spanish with a Castilian dialect, never the less still very much spanish. As all Spanish speakers understand them except regional sayings/slang that is only in Argentina.

At the end of the movie Childs did have breath I always thought he was the thing
Kronos0316 he's confirmed the thing and if you do proper research you would see breath doesn't matter. Read John carpenters tweet. It's best to not spread false info it's a shame more people don't know the truth and the true answers. Both John and the actor for maccready have said pretty much child's is the thing. The breath theory was disproven so easily long ago I don't know how people still go on about it.

I have a theory. In order to kill someone or something infected with the thing without fire, you have to shoot its original infection point. For instance, if the only way to kill a zombie was to shoot it in the spot where it bit someone, it would kill it.

I've always thought that child's was infected, because at the end when Kurt Russel and him are sitting together hands him a bottle of some type of alcohol and child's drinks it. Kurt Russel starts laughing hysterically and so does child's awkwardly, but it's because in the bottle was gasoline from the Molotov cocktails to burn the thing. If child's was human he'd spit that out and say WTF is this shit, but the thing would do anything to appear human hence the very awkward laughing at the end.
But still a good comic.
Nick Williams it was confirmed by John that he was infected and the actor said he was laughing because he knew anyway he was infected before handing the bottle.

He said in a tweet that one of them was infected at the end. My money's on MacReady. After all, we never saw him cut his thumb. It could've been anyone's blood that he tested, just taking a little extra from an uninfected person and passing it off as his own.
All part of his plan to kill the rest of the team and remain the only trustworthy source to come out of all of this. After all, it was he who made all those recordings on the creature, so who wouldn't trust him to be human?
Why would they not believe him when they saw a creatures body there. They didn't know what it was but maccready told them. Why would they uncuff maccready when he attacked one soldier earlier and they think he's crazy. How did the soldier even get infected he didn't touch the body at the start And the story is bogus because it was confirmed child's was indeed infected in the movie. Gotta love how it attacks everyone out in the open and gets itself killed for no reason too.

1. The commander was infected so he was denying everything
2. Mcready was knocked out, so anything could have happened when he was unconscious
3.The thing was mutating into Pybas's body, it tried its best to hide it but failed so it attacked them when they noticed

Oh and to all those who are bashing my dude about the "speaking Argentinean thing" you know there are differences in the regional dialects of Spanish spoken in different hemispheres of the world like say it'd be different in Mexico from Argentina from Ecuador from Spain. Yes the basics are the same but the dialogue between two different dialects would be like an American speaking English to a British citizen and the difference they would find in sentence structure and slang as well as other things like cadences of speaking slurring certain parts of words, rhyming slang, syllable usage etc. Also the difference in formal and informal communication and identification of male and female connotations for words respectively. El, La, Ello, Ella, etc. and the use of formal language variables in different situations for different dialects and different locales.
But most high school Spanish classes don't teach you that its something you pick up from your little old Abuelita whose 80 plus years old and still speaks better in Spanish than in English. For instance I was taught in schools Agua is Water, but my Mommom (Abuelita) pronounced it "Ah-wa" without the hard G sound. See what I mean. In proper Spanish you pronounce it phonetically but those with dialects have different pronunciation with a word as fundamental as WATER.
Btws I spoke Spanish before I could walk so there's that too, but not so fluently anymore although I can survive in a Spanish speaking country if the need arises.
It's still the same language dumbo, regardless of differences in sland or whatever the fuck.
What I don't understand is why it did that why would the thing compromise its ability to escape
