Here is the problem I've always had with this particular story. Once the Thing is exposed to the ecosystem underwater, it is game over for the planet. It doesn't matter what anyone does at this point, it will assimilate the entire biosphere. Story can end there, we lose, the end.

Jeez, the art quality took a BIG hit in the second series, huh? The first series featured iffy writing (too many characters explaining to themselves what they're doing, like a guy who writes for media other than comics), but the artwork was gorgeous and weird, and took us to a lot of different places.
Looking forward to part three!

this would be a great sequel. McCready's dissent into paranoia as he and childs are rescued, both childs and he being clean but the rescue team getting infected as they recover, having nearly died from the cold. then trying to assimilate into normal life

Not impossible. I mean if I had it my way I would nuke all of Antarctica but the world governments probably wouldn’t go for that so I would just load up a bunch of choppers with thermite grenades

It kinda seems like this is a series that should have ended with the movie.
It was perfectly ambiguous, heavy, and somber as is. More and more ludicrous settings don't seem to help, ya know?

agreed i don't mind if they make a comic or game based on the thing 1982 movie. but they should keep it a stand alone, don't tell us Mac or Childs fate's leave that how it was so we can still ask questions. the thing could've escaped without those two being involved (maybe an animal/mammal/insect or Naul's whatever) and be set afew years after the events of the movie by it getting frozen and "rescued" or whatever.

Nope, it's crap. The thing wanted to leave. That's why it built a ship and made a dog (Blair-Garry-Nauls-thing made a dog to run to mcmurdo). This comic completely misunderstands the things psychology. Read Peter Watts The Things (which has some problems), plus Who Goes There, From Hell, and the Prequel.
A better sequel has the thing leaving the earth and going home ,or it's done from the thing's point of view as a creature in enemy territory. Possibly the ship they build at McMurdo has to leave some behind but no reason to think it wants to take over.

I start to think The Thing is a Bioweapon which in combination of both Nanobot and living tissue. Nano bot can act in group or individual because they are embedded with AI. Nanobot are designed to absorb cellular level of organism and imitate organism. In addition, Nanobot are capable of self replication.
Living tissue provide power to Nanobot so that is why none organism are reject from human body.
As Nanobot fully absorb and imitate all cell from organism it will require more living tissue to add its own biomass in order to strike next organism and provide more power.
Fire destroy tissue which provide power to Nanobot that is why fire do the trick but have to fully burn it to ash.
They should make a 3rd movie

Nicolas Perez you’re right but I think it was more so “that American” because of it being military and the fact that 3 different bases have been points where the thing has fucked shit up. It’s for the reader with more context rather than being culturally correct about the lingo. (I mean when has America ever given a fuck about accurate representation) 😂

It needs to stay on the ice and the Russians find the camp unbelieving of the outrageous story they kinda of understood. They try to explain to her while sedating her they've received the distress call and have rescued Mac and Childs. All three are in sickbay together....
This is starting to get where most of the sequels go wrong. The Thing jumps out every 5 seconds, randomly kills everything, basically a mindless action gore fest. What happened to the suspense and who is the Thing????
if is was the thing... the second i got out of the submarine in the last chapter.. i would have assimilated every sea creature i saw and split myself over and over to speed up the process.. the whole ocean would have been me and every damn river and lake.. then after that... i would set my sights to land... ya'll would have been fking surrounded... via oceans and even the rivers and lakes inland... xD ya'll would have been a done deal...

If they have to actively pursue it on the ice to insure it doesn't freeze how does it not freeze even faster in the water. Why would the thing leave available bio mass instead of assimilating it like it always has. Also pretty sure frostbitten tissue is not capable of undergoing necrosis thus it could not become gangrenous. Why would it burst from a body when it's never done that before. Contrived dribble.
They pretty much already lost in this comic. The thing was able to escape the arctic and it infected sea life... Game over man! Game over!
Not gonna lie, even though the reactor area was flooded, having to blow up the reactor would have been the best bet
