That is the basis for Eternal Vows, but then the Thing loses some of it potency, and we finally get the story from The Thing's point of view.

MacReady's resignation wasn't "cowardice". He simply reached his breaking point. Everyone has a breaking point, and you can't overcome it without reaching it. Sometimes the accumulation of multiple traumatic experiences over time holds more weight than one terrible traumatic event. Losing a limb is unspeakably horrible, but we've seen MacReady endure _multiple_ situations that most people would have gladly traded a limb to get out of, and over a much longer period of time without any breaks.
An "easy surrender" is rarely as easy to the person doing it as it may seem to outsiders. From _my_ perspective, MacReady went through more overall, but everyone's fears/breaking points exist on entirely different scales. What's unbearable for you may be a walk in the park for me, but there are also things you can handle that I can't. It isn't about who "went through more", because more for one person is less to another. It's about who can handle more of _their own_ personal hells. MacReady definitely faced down _more_ of _his own_ deepest fears before finally breaking.
Besides, I don't even think it was fear that made him want to give up; I think it was all his pent-up anger and frustration finally boiling over, and despair as he saw no way to correct the situation at that moment.
MacReady's temporary so-called "cowardice" can be attributed to insanity as well. No two minds break alike. The important part is that once MacReady was able to get a hold of himself, he did; a coward would have kept refusing to fight even after seeing that there's still hope and re-evaluating the consequences. Also, insanity can enable some people do things that they normally couldn't do. For a person like that, being able to overcome yourself and endure your own greatest nightmares with a _clear mind_ is even scarier and requires more bravery.
In this moment of weakness, MacReady proved just how courageous he really is. He overcame his own humanity _without losing_ his humanity.
I honestly feel bad for Mac. Everyone he knew ended up a Thing, he’s been going non stop fighting it for days and because of PTSD he’s probably gonna live the rest of his life consumed by paranoia.

The Thing's final form was awesome. I like that McCready is human. He suffers, regrets, fears and overcomes over and over again. A great protagonist. Agapito is my new favorite character. He is super-human.

Wasn't sure about this series, because I was raised off the movie and video game, but it was Childs turning into the Thing and how he hid himself from discovery that did it for me. This was some truly great story telling.

The Thing is trying to infect the entire populace, while also searching for a way to leave the planet and further spread its influence across the universe.
Both movies show it trying to simply leave the planet using a space ship. And it's been on earth for thousands of years without any of its Friends coming to look for it. Doesn't seem like the species is trying to Conquer worlds, or even works together....

I wish they would use these comics as storyboards and make an ongoing series.Netflix,HBO or Showtime would be the obvious choices.The material is as good as the Terminator,Predator or Alien series.Why it isn't regarded as gold,is a big oversight.Why some rich producers don't jump on this series is just plain stupid.But what do I know,other than what I enjoy seeing come to life on screen.Even this series,being read from comics is awesome!

Oh boy, I sure am glad the budget of movies continues to skyrocket but they become more and more bland.
The budget for paranormal activity 2 was three million dollars. Let that sink in.
They can say they can't afford to make body horror all they want, but it is a lie. They just make what sells to the masses.
They should only ever touch this work if they are ONLY going to use practical effects.
Practical effects isn't always better, just very often. Like in Game Of Thrones the dragons there would never had been so good without the cgi
