Deadchannel maybe canned food. With so many dead they would be plenty of canned food.
Granted a lot would be looted quickly. However they would be a lot left in homes with people who died or left.

Its actually a double barrel shot gun. Which is the same thing but thats the actual name.
A rifle is named for the "rifling" inside the barrel, something a shotgun has no need for. Shotguns are designed to shoot shot, or slugs.
FilmComics got it right in calling it a Shotgun. The comics got it wrong and I don't know how they did.
It's stories like this that make me want to learn how to make penicillin. I know it involves some kind of bread mold but I'm not sure about much else.
