This film made vampires what they're SUPPOSED to be. Scary, ruthless and NOT compassionate.
It's scary as shit.
Well said
You forgot brutal.
*Hammer to nail: B•A•M ! ! !* ☜ 💀
Do their skin sparkles in the sunlight?
@@marcusmartin5758 no that would be way to scary
This wasn’t that bad of a movie, honestly made vampires a hell of a lot more terrifying
I know right!
Agreed.
What, twilight wasn't scary?
@@kingkaid6427 🤣😂😂😂 twilight can't touch this vampire movie !
Praise The Moon yes it is s romance like that is the most Terrifying thing behind 50 shades of gray
This was the craziest vampire movies ever made! A cross between Dracula, The Shining, Alien, and The Thing. Danny Huston did a good job portraying a bloodthirsty vampire, hellbent on destroying an entire town.
See Stakeland. Also crazy fuckers.
How does it have any correlation with the thing?
Dawson Garret The cold and enviroment.
Danny Huston is just an amazing bad guy... no matter what villian he plays he does a good job of it
You should check out hellsing ultimate you won't be disappointed
Honestly loved the over top camera view of the townsfolk trying to fight back against them as they take over the town absolutely beautiful
Same. The blood contrasting with the dark environment makes it so eery. Shows the horror that vampires would bring if real.
A quality and criminally underrated vampire flick. Its a must watch for horror fans.
Fun fact: the creator of 30don said they made it into a graphic novel to justify the movie.
The producers thought it would be too risky to make a movie based on nothing, so the friend of the creator said:
let's make your idea a graphic novel, limited run, and then we can say the screenplay is based on a graphic novel, which would seem less risky to the producers.
Pretty genius but I made sure the movie got its funding.
You specifically made sure they got the money? Well thank you for it, this movie is great
Robert Andrew lmao he took care of the funding
That's more or less what he says in the video.
i have a 7 book series that might have to do just that to be seen and funded. i'm truly in for a fight to get it out there. now to find a graphic artist that can go dark and depraved.
@@chaddelong998 u have any links to ur work or talk about it? I love horror
Ah, 30 Days of Night... I really enjoyed this movie!

@@FluffyLionxD Best of both worlds, right? To be honest, it's just for show... the longer we don't think about logical fallicies, the better ;-]
MAN I SAW THUS WHEN I WAS A KID SO GLAD IT GOT A VIDEO ON IT!!!
My biggest plot hole in this movie is how can he steal everyone phones and burn them I mean it's impossible destroying cell towers would have been way more coherent
Youssef Assem he destroyed satellite phones....because they work without cell towers.
@@ericellerbrock9350 I got it but how did he stole them I mean going around town looking like him and stealing them from people
Electronics can brake down pretty bad in extreme cold. Perhaps the town's people kept them indoors to protect them.
It's a movie. Don't think about it too hard. Besides breaking into houses to ransack them doesn't take that long n people don't always know. Trust me. I was a complete piece of shit when I was younger. Me n my friends used to break into houses all the time. We'd hit multiple houses a night. We'd go into every room besides the room where people were asleep. Sneaking into their rooms wouldn't have been impossible tho. We just didn't have the balls to go that far lol
And I'm not trying to brag about breaking into houses. Trust me when I saw I was complete and utter fucktard as a teenager. I just brought it up to show that him stealing phones isn't completely far fetched.
As a native of Alaska, I can guarantee you that there isn't any vampires, nope, none, totally not there, never have been, never will be.
How cool would it be tho?
Eternal monsters?
Little vampires running
People should come to Alaska.
Tyler Baldwin are you a vampire?
Sounds like something a vampire would say
Hummm..
Seem legit!
Made me second guess my application to vet school over there lol
So you're saying that I'll live if I go to Alaska? 😭
“That cold ain’t the weather.... that’s death approaching.” Absolutely loved this movie, highly underrated film, best vampire flick besides maybe blade and underworld. Glad you guys did this one!
I love this scene, I always quote it whenever it starts getting cold in the winter :D the Stranger is such an underrated character!
Ben Foster wasn't even a vampire yet he still terrified me the most lol
Man it sucks that it didn't get as big as it should've. Then the damned twilight saga ruins vampire movies.
I 100% agree.
@@mook_butt8037 1000% agree. screw twinklin'. i want violence and carnage! 30DofN was great!
Ooooooh this is true

T Jonesy oh shit!!!!!!!! It’s true! 😱😱😱😮😮😮 dafuq hahahahahhaha
Ben foster played the Hell out of that role and he was only in it for a bit. And he was, in my opinion, in another excellent and underrated move, Pandorum.
Pandorum is great, Ben is a really versatile actor, his character 30don is creepy as hell
Wow I was just pandorum and I searched for this movie because they have that really scary and thrilling stuff that I enjoy from movies.
Loved both films. I remember watching pandorum knowing nothing about it. Was blown away! This too is an amazing film. Was terrifying ! Made vampires scary as shit again.
The ending was amazing. The way the main character chose his death.
because sooner or later he's gonna eat some meat too
@@devonte4330 sis?
An excellent werewolf movie is
“Dog Soldiers.”
Jack Smith an excellent computer movie is "War Games."
That’s my favorite Werewolf film. I like it mainly because they look fucking real and there is no nasty CGI in it that makes them look too corny.
Oh my God that's amazing
Sick film, the character 'Spoon' in it has to be my favorite character. One of the most used British chants at a football game comes from this movie to!
LOOOOL @redmudpei.... Are you sure because im 100% positive their is. He was my favourite character...
Then Wesley Snipes came to town.
Blades one of my favorite films, the first three were bad. Ass.
The Day Walker 😳

LOL
Blood would be spilled \m/
Is Ben Foster the most underrated actor in movies today? One could make a strong argument.
Agreed
Probably. Been awhile since hes been seen in a big budget major film. BUT has anyone EVER seen him in anything and it WASNT good
I was watching Hostiles on Netflix with Christian Bale (who's also criminally underrated) but when Ben Foster showed up in the movie he reminded me why he's one of the best character actors around right now.
He might be my favorite modern actor. This, Lone Survivor, Hell or high Water.... he is always a standout.
So agreed - definitely underrated!
He is great.
Ben Foster is such an underrated actor. He always gives 200% with his roles, and I'm surprised he isn't in more movies.
This movie was gnarly as hell. I could tell it was based on a comic right away, because Hollywood just doesn’t make mainstream horror like this unless it’s based on a book or comic. Not like this. Really enjoyed this movie.

This movie scared me growing up but also made me deeply fascinated in vampire lore great video once again!:)
This was such an underrated movie. I swear this one has the scariest depiction of vampires and one of the best vampire films ever. Remembered watching this on a winter night with all the lights out, felt so real back then, like someone can actually grab me from the window. Easily a favorite.
Ben Foster was also excellent in
“Pandorum.”
Thirty Days of Night was one of the creepiest and scariest movies I've ever seen. I loved it. It's one of the few movies that managed to capture lightning in a bottle.
Agree. It gave me a deep Deep chill
A very underrated movie that doesn't have enough exposure imo. Nice vid as always 👍
Also this movie and the faculty are the only 2 movies i like Josh Hartnett in lol
Black hawk down?
I loved how at the end he sat in the sun and just took it and she sat there holding him for his final moments as he burned to ash
I'm always impressed at how New Zealand can be transformed so completely for films. It's an absolutely beautiful country. I was there in the middle of winter, and there was snow on the ground, but it was still incredibly sunny, so it was interesting seeing how they made it look like Barrow.
The Central Plateau would been the best place if the forecast had been right
I liked how the movie gave us time to meet the characters and give us clues into their troubles and their joys, making us really invested in the people that were later killed. It wasn't just horror for the sake of horror, it had real characters, plot, and the conclusion seemed completely in-character to me. Thank you for doing this video!
When came out on DVD none of my friends ever heard of it. Neither did I. We were all blown away how awesome this was. It made you go "holy shit" so many times.
I watched this movie when I was 15 and I was quite young then. I’m 18 now, and back then watching this movie was genuinely terrifying. Partly because I had never seen anything like it. I never imagined that vampires could be depicted as soo cold and scary counter to other depictions where they are terrifying but charming in a way. This movie was like one of the cornerstones to the gory nightmares I have now.
This was an AMAZING movie and I was genuinely pissed when it’s sequel tarnished the series reputation.
this movie scared the shit out of me when i was young, its one of my favourite films now😂
The saddest moment in this movie was when Grampa says, "I'm walking to Wainwright!" He leaves the shelter and does so. I hope he made it, but I highly doubt it.
If you thought that was sad then you must have missed the scene where one of the vampires is chowing down on a little girl
@@dumpcakes5885 nah.. not nearly as sad as the grandpa
@@dumpcakes5885 i just watched it for the first time and I don’t remember this scene, do you mean when the little girl is eating the dude In the store ?
Apparently he actually made it and the third film follows him and his dementia
My favourite vamps ever. Cheers for this.
I enjoyed the premise of this movie. I can only think this film has done wonders for the tourism industry in Barrow, Alaska!
What's funny is this movie was actually filmed in new Zealand.
A terribly underrated gem of a movie. Brilliantly portrays vampires as alpha predators more driven by feral bloodlust and savage instinct than actual intelligence, though it's clearly implied that an elder vampire like Marlowe can possess a very high degree of reason and cunning. The vampires in this film, and in particular the depiction of their solid black eyes, very much reminded me of sharks on the hunt, prone to literal feeding frenzies and wild abandon.
Another excellent video - cheers! '30 Days Of Night' (2007), & also 'Daybreakers' (2009), managed to achieve the nigh-on impossible feat of creating a totally original, fresh spin on the genre, breathing new life into the "traditional" (perhaps overdone & outdated?) typical Vampiric movies of old.
Idk what it is about this movie, but I remember constantly looking for it on TV, but always too scared to watch it all the way through, once finding it.
Liz P lol who looks for a movie on TV? That seems Impossible and random
The "god?.....no god..." Will forever be one of my favorite movie lines...
I think this is an underrated film - I don't normally watch these types anymore but when I did years ago, the way they laid it out at the beginning really gave it a "down to earth-ish" feel that drew me in, and it made vampires really creepy again. Definitely appreciate the preference to practical over CGI, too.
My biggest gripe with this movie is how the hell did the "stranger" manage to steal everyone's cell phones???
He took and burned satellite phones, not cell phones. Getting them without being noticed would be difficult if the phones were in homes. I suspect they were in vehicles making it accessible to the stranger. The vampires destroyed the rest of the communications when they took out Gus.
It was super convenient .
@@ShimaS-0079
It's a movie. Storytelling in a visual form. Everything is super convenient. IRL situation would play out differently of course. That is why it is entertainment, not a depiction of real life events that have transpired.
Watching this film right now and every time it’s on . Absolutely amazing !
😭 I wish this video was 3 times longer! Loved it!

Another good video. Thank you so much boss!! And it’s 30 days of night so you know it’s gonna be good
Thanks buddy!
One of my favorite comics and movies! Love the video!
I love auto close captions. Every time there’s a monster sound it says *applause*
I think one of the most original things they did, which hasn't been done in any other vampire-related film, was that they gave the vampires their own unique language. That also intensified the horror because the residents of Barrow couldn't understand what they were saying, as if the vampires not bothering to hide in itself wasn't terrifying enough.
I love this movie but the second one damn
Wait....there was a second one?
@// Deadset appreciate the heads up. I've watched the first a million times. My most cherished horror flick. Gave Vampire's a better look and attitude. I'm tired of the pretty boy royalty Vampire's. They are ravaging animals, nothing more nothing less
@@LordDathka A 010 film called THIRTY DAYS OF NIGHT:DARK DAYS. It is a poor piece of work, best avoided--as are a couple of TV mini-series.

Wicked easy to listen to annnd understand. Thank you for your work
i wish they made more vampire movies like this, no gimmicks, no comic book lunacy, no overpowered vampire terminators, just a movie that brings the real world into the mythos of vampire lore, and asks questions like "what would a REAL vampire be like? how would they behave?" and "what would happen if these creatures came across a town that was submerged in darkness for nearly a month straight?
Absolutely love this movie. Makes me love the dark winter nights even more
Superb video celebrating a truly scary vampire movie. Everyone involved in the movie did excellent work but Jo Willems's photography is unbelievably good and composer Brian Reitzell creates an unforgettable, haunting score.

This is the best dive into an underrated movie. Good stuff
When I watched this movie I was like “if the get to the realization that those things are vampires, why the towns people didn’t throw a Bible at them?”. You know like From Dusk Till Dawn...makes some crosses and bless some water...use some since. But nope..they went with the “I’m gonna inject myself with some of his blood and become one of them” so we can have a fighting chance... cause another movie have to happen.

It’s such a good film! The setting is a very clever idea and I love that the vampires are pure savages. I love it when a movie uses a unique environment as a asset. I don’t know how this film dosen’t get more credit. It really made vampires fresh and interesting without going too far away from the classic lore and made them weirdly possible. Everything made sense and worked it’s definitely one of my favourite vampire films.
