  • Thanks for watching DRock Fishing! This video will show you how to build a deck with storage and a floor for a Pelican Bass Raider 10E. The deck build took a few days and required 1 sheet of 3/4" Plywood for the deck and 1/2" plywood for the floor and doors. 1-2 8 ft 2x4s, indoor/outdoor carpet, carpet glue, heavy duty stapler, stainless steel screws, hinges, seat pedestal base, bolts and nuts for the pedestal base, seat pedestal, boat seat base, Wood Water Sealant and canvas fastener buttons.
    I have added some documents that you can print and use to cut your deck doors and floor, be mindful that this is a scan and might not be 100% accurate. I printed the documents at 101% size and compared to the original with minimal differences. If you have any questions let me know in the comment section below, please like and subscribe.

    I always love watching these mod videos but being a contractor I understand how much these parts weigh...I have a sundolphin and there are some days (especially early) that I have a hard time lifting the base boat (i dont trailer). I always just leave my boat the way it is because I dont want to give myself a hernia, lol. But this mod looks like it worked out well for you - good job and thanks for sharing.

    • @dgalvan529
      @dgalvan529  Před 3 lety

      Yes it definitely made the boat heavy, I have a trailer now so it’s much easier for me. My buddy has the same mods and we usually go together so I end up helping him load and unload. It’s not that bad when it’s two people, but one would definitely feel the difference. The good thing is they are easily removable, the deck and back floor weighs about 45-50 lbs. Thanks for watching!

    With 3/4" plywood that's got to add alot of weight to the boat I have a 14ft John boat I used 3/8" plywood with aluminum rails across the top screwed my plywood to the aluminum with self drilling screws and made 2 hatch doors it works fine I also added carpet , when building a deck on a boat you do have to consider the weight of the lumber and motor size Its like having 2 extra people on the boat with wood weight I have a 40hp outboard building my deck did make my boat a little slower speed wise but with a 2man boat building a deck adds a considerable amount of weight just my thought

    • @dgalvan529
      @dgalvan529  Před rokem

      Hey Allen thanks for watching, I appreciate the input, it does weigh a bit more but with a small boat I’m not looking for speed. I also have a 2.5 hp Suzuki outboard and it works great! I have a different deck that I made and used 1/2 inch on that one for the floor and 3/4 for the deck so that it could hold the weight.

    • @dgalvan529
      @dgalvan529  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for watching Arthur! No it’s not attached, I can remove it whenever I don’t want to use it. It fits snug enough that it won’t come out of place and once you put the floor in the back it keeps the deck in place, making it even more secure.

    How much did the materials cost?

    • @dgalvan529
      @dgalvan529  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Tylor without including the seat and pedestal I spent about $120 on material which includes for the carpeted deck and floor. It also depends on what wood you buy because they are different prices, I bought a wood seal and treated the wood myself, as far as the seat and pedestal I went with the more expensive option $25 for the base, $25 for pedestal, $18 for the swivel that goes on the pedestal, $10 for nuts and bolts and $22 for the deck seat. So that alone was about $100 but my buddy got a 16” marine raider seat pedestal from academy and used the seat the boat came with and that only cost him $17. I already had wood glue and the staple gun so I didn’t have to spend on that.
