    With all the mods, gear, engine and persons would the boat be under/over capacity?

    • @maxcastfishing4357
      @maxcastfishing4357  Před 5 lety +4

      Chris Vazquez awesome! This is a good question. I was concerned about the weight as well. With all the gear and two guys (I weigh 190, my brother 230) we were just under the 600 pound weight limit, but the boat handled and was floating just fine! The upper deck could be made with 1/2 inch plywood to save on weight. Here is a breakdown of the weights:
      Battery: 45
      Upper platform: 31
      Lower platform: 15
      Upper seat and pole: 6
      Back seat: 20
      Trolling motor: 21
      Outboard motor: 38 dry
      Total weight: 161

    Wow! That is really cool! I just bought my new Bass Raider yesterday and am very excited to start this project. That’s awesome that you took the time to put this video together. Thank you. Couple questions…do you typically fish alone? Or is there still room for a second person? My wife likes to fish and wanted to make sure she’d still have room after installing the casting deck. And with the trolling motor in the front..do you run the wires aft to the battery? You don’t plug into to socket in the bow do you? I was wondering if the factory wiring would support this. Thank you!

    • @maxcastfishing4357
      @maxcastfishing4357  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Scott, thanks for the kind words. You’re going to love your Raider. Yes, I’ve fished with another person in the boat several times. In fact, there are videos on my channel were it’s me and another in the boat (Tournament on Lake Gibbons). You and your wife will enjoy it! I used the wires that came installed on the boat to run power from the back of the boat to the front of the boat, and also used a plug. You can find the plug by clicking on this video and click the link in the description, which will take you to Amazon. czcams.com/video/LMFmjWBwFhA/video.html
      I also had to reverses the trolling motor head to put it in the front, but it’s really easy. All the best with your build.

    • @maxcastfishing4357
      @maxcastfishing4357  Před 4 lety

      You wont regret making a casting deck; it's by far one of the best mods! I only used 4 screws at the four corner of the casting deck; only because I trailer it on the road. when I first made it, I didn't screw it down so I could take it on and off when I lifted the boat up into a truck bed (so it wasn't too heavy). It would probably be a good idea to use a small amount of silicone where the screws hit, but I didn't bother with it. I think using self-taping screws is a good idea as well. All the best!

      Scott Bergin thanks for the compliment! The trolling motor I have came with the bass raider when I bought it and I switch the head (top) 180 degrees on the shaft to run it on the front transom. There’s a single bolt towards the top, unscrew it and rotate the head. It’s really easy to do! The Academy in Conroe has Minn Kota trolling motors like the one I have!

    Hey what did you use for the floor.. wood wise and how?

    • @maxcastfishing4357
      @maxcastfishing4357  Před 3 lety

      I used 1/2 inch plywood and treated it with polyurethane before putting the carpet on it. I need to make a video on how I did it. Basically I measured the inside width for the flooring and accounted for extra space the carpet would add on all sides. I used a piece of cardboard to make a template for the back and traced it onto the plywood. The overall length of the flooring is 8ft. I left the front flooring exposed so I could put a bilge pump if I ever take on water. All the best!

    Not to get too personal but how much weight do you think this platform design will hold? I love the vid and I plan to build a deck for my Bass Raider but I will need to modify the design some. I have a Minn Kota edge foot controlled mounted on the Left side.

      Thomas Seay I’m not too sure on weight. I am 190 and it works great for me. My brother is 230 and he was up on the deck and it worked fine for him, although I was in the back when he was on the deck. If you’re alone in the boat, it helps to have weight in the back (I have the battery and outboard on mine). Hope this helps. Thanks for the sub!

    • @thomasseay1177
      @thomasseay1177 Před 4 lety

      Not sure if the pics show much. I mounted the trolling motor 2 years ago, so my deck had to fit around it. I forgot to mention that I used a small piece of deck board at the very front with 4 well nuts/bolts to secure the trolling motor. For the deck I made a few changes. I made a "cut out" for the Minn Kota foot control, added some 1x4 side rails and a magnet strip I got at Harbor Freight with a freebie coupon. I mixed sand into some exterior paint and applied to the deck (carpet in a boat is as useless as boobs on a bull IMHO....No offense). My under deck rod holders are shorter on the left side because of the deck board my trolling motor is attached to. Also did not have any 3/4 plywood, so my deck top is 1x8 treated that I had left over from a fence project. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to attach images to the post reply. I will need to take my deck off to really show how the Trolly is mounted.

      Brent McDaniel it is 1/2 plywood with carpet only. I used 8 feet, so there is a small section of the floor at the front of the boat which is not covered, but is covered up by the casting deck. If I had to do it over, I would probably make the floor into two sections to cover the entire floor.
