    Thanks for sharing. I have the same boat. I have been using my trolling motor on the stern. I purchased a 3.5 outboard and now will move my trolling motor to the front. Valuable info. I really appreciate it.

      My problem exactly. Almost lost my Minn Kota Endura, 30-pound thrust. You are dead right about the bow mounting plate. In addition to the problem you mentioned, it is not angled like the transom plate - not straight up and down. Probably needs a glue down wooden wedge to get the angle right.
      Also, when you tighten down the bracket, the round, pivoting feet come into contact with the metal plate - which causes the Minn Kota to slide when it torques. The problem is similar on the back side of the bracket: hard plastic to metal. Not good either way.
      I like your idea. I will also try to overcome the slippery situation at the contact points by adding wood plates or a non-slip covering. Thanks, Jeff.

    Thanks for the tip! Pelican still have not reenforced the front transom! I have a similar setup; I have a Chinese 4 stroke in the rear and a 36lb Newport vessels in the front.
    Thing were going smooth until I increased the trolling motor to max speed. The trolling motor slid right off the transom as I was making a turn. Lucky for me I caught it in time.
    i am headed to Lowes and pick up one of those strap ties today!

      I'm so glad you didn't lose your trolling motor hopefully my tip will keep your trolling motor in place. If you have some of those grip strips they put on outdoor steps and services that adds even more grip.

    It’s rated for 3 hp motor on back and front for trolling so that’s probably why the back is thicker

    My Quest Angler 10 didnt come with a front plate I had to fabricate one for it. When I first got my 14' Jon boat I had a motor fall off because the wood in the back was to short. I did add another piece of wood but when the motor fell off it totally fell off into the water. Luckily I was able to retrieve it but after that I made a cable that attaches the motor to the boat so if by chance it ever happens again it wont go in the water.

      Oh 😲 I glad you was able to get your motor back. I'm going to have to look into doing the same thing for mine just in case. Thanks for watching I appreciate it. 👍🏾

    Jett, did you put the plate on just the front side of the front transom?

    • @fishingwithjett5373
      @fishingwithjett5373  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Katrina I only put mine on the front side but I have thought hard about it may be better if I had put one on the back side as well.

    Does your boat leak at all?

    • @fishingwithjett5373
      @fishingwithjett5373  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I've not had any problems with leaks but I also store my boat inside. I'm sure if a person stores theirs outside that may be different. I appreciate you watching 👍🏾

    I have mine split in half. It is a block of wood in front and piece of foam in rear. My bolt holes barely were in the wood. Great fix!

      What did they use inside for flotation? Foam blocks or spray foam?

    • @fishingwithjett5373
      @fishingwithjett5373  Před 5 měsíci

      I think it's foam blocks of some kind. That's a great question. 👍🏾
