  • Welcome back! This video features two anchor systems I am using for the Bass Raider. The Anchor Wizard is a very cool anchor system that I use when I am in 7ft of water or more. The DIY shallow water anchors I use in 7ft or less. Having both anchor options makes a huge difference when I am out fishing! Thanks for watching - please like and subscribe!

Thanks! I found if I was too close/over the anchor when I set the line it wouldn’t hold, but when I let out enough line (to where the line was at a 45 degree angle) it would hold. Tight lines!

Nice video! You need to look into the "no snag" tie method for your deep water anchor. Several videos on YT show this technique using a small tie wrap at the eye and the main knot tying to the bottom point of the anchor. If you snag on rocks you pull the rope until the tie wrap breaks, anchor flips, and you pull it back by it's point. I've saved my kayak anchor (similar to yours in design) at least a dozen times when I would have otherwise lost it in 25 ft of water.

Don't know if this is still relevant but you could cut your poles in half. Use brass inserts and 1/4 x20 threaded studs to assemble them. We use their shalow anchors for kayak tourney fishing. The rope going up isn't neccessary... Cool idea tho.

Try Scotty slip discs, and mod some rod holders. Put those bad boys at any angle you want. I used the slip discs to mod each joint of my YakGear outriggers for infinite adjustment. Mates up fine with Railblaza. Can't be paddling a yak with pontoons that are out of plumb! LOL!

I'm building a pontoon/catamaran style boat. I'll be using an anchor system similar to yours. My first thoughts were along the line of a small hose reel. Rigging some kind of stop (lever) to let the anchor down. Using the crank on the hose reel to lift it when not needed. One in the front and one in the rear. For deeper water anchoring.
For shallow water anchoring I'll be using EMT tubing. First thought was to have them pivot and lay along the side of the boat when not in use. Question, why don't you use the same technique to tilt them down as you did for raising and lowering ? That is how I'll be doing mine. I wont be using those little gadgets you used. I'll just go with pullies from the hardware store. On a non-existent budget. Can't afford a boat....so, I JUST BUILT ONE.
