Hello John, technical question. Did the polishing of the cam lobes take away the required .002 taper to spin the lifters ? Thank you again for your informative cam/lifter video's, what I now know about that I learned from you.
Do you guys regrind flat tappet rockers? Also, would you ever recommend polishing the journal area of the cam? I have some skunk2 cams for a Honda H series that come coated. I noticed other manufacturers like BC and Kelford have polished journals but coated lobes. Would it be beneficial to polish the journals on a cam for cylinder heads that do not use a traditional cam bearing?
Interesting my cam shaft not important but I let the small oil layer dry and it started to rust was wondering how to take it off I got my new cams sitting in some oil so they don’t rust
Really? It's a roller cam. It looks like the same amount of roller contact as every factory cam I've pulled. Granted, some of those lobes are toast. Looks like a couple of lifters turned in their bore.
I just use a Dremel and a polishing head. It isn't enough to affect the tolerance of the cams. It just smooths any imperfections out. If your Cams need any polishing beyond that. JUST BUY NEW CAMS!
Thank you for this info and video.
do you recommends Howards cams or Comp cams ,i hear Howards offers a hardened cam for flat lifters that is superior to Comp cams
You used same bearing caps or have to buy oversized? I want to know cuz ima bout to get mine resufaced
How does one go about getting a cam repaired by you
Alot of it is not getting the tappets reground . If you do one you do the other

Just buy a new one. Unless you drive a supercar, the machine shop costs more.
