- Winter's coming! You need to start putting away that garden hose and winterizing your spigots. But it's stuck onto your spigot's hose bib and you can't get it off no matter how hard you try.
You can try spraying with a lubricant and various other methods, but if it's an aluminum host connection it's probably not going to come off.
Here's a step-by-step process for not only removing your hose from the faucet, but also replacing the connector. By the end of this quick tutorial, you'll know how to remove your garden hose, create a watertight seal, and never have it get stuck again!

Thank you so much! After 3 days of WD40 and yanking on it, you saved my sanity. I was going to call a plumber. I followed your instructions. Done deal in 5 minutes 🙋🏻♂️
Great job! Glad I could help!
Thank, thank, thank you very much, I am a 72 years old lady, no husband in a fix income and over the years I have learn to do lots of things around the house and acquired some power tools but unfortunately the strength has gone besides my old arthritis bone, I have been dealing with a stuck garden hose foooorever (hard water) after trying several methods yours was the one that worked for me. I will be watching for more of your solutions around the house. Thank you.
I just followed your instructions!! Worked! I did it! 64 yo woman with vision problems, yes!!! Thank you thank you!!!!!!!
Thank you!!! It worked!!!
I’m an older and disabled woman that lives alone. Plus I have very little strength in my hands but I still managed to get that darn thing off by using your method!👍
I have 2 Boston Terriers that get hot easily in the heat where I live. Not having a hose for their kitty pool was making them miserable since they were stuck in the AC house. Now it’s fixed and they’re happy and so am I!
God bless you for your help!
🙏🏻👍🙏🏻
My hose has been stuck for over a year and I've had several people try to remove it and told me I needed to replace the whole spigot. So glad I found your video. It worked great. I will be looking for more of your videos. Hope you have one on how to fix a leaky faucet.
I had a plumber want to replace the whole thing as well for over $400! I was like look man, I just want this off lol
Thanks for this video! I'm an "older" woman who lives alone and while I'm pretty good with chores around the house, this looked a little intimidating at first. But as soon as I put the correct blade in my small saw, I was able to do it. It took a few tries, but I was finally able to twist the darn thing off, as you demonstrated. Thanks!
You’ve given me hope! I’m going to try this and hopefully my son won’t get mad at me if I screw it up.🥴
Thank you! I’m a 71 yr old female, my husband had a stroke so it’s up to me. I did exactly what you said and I was able to get it off in five minutes! Perfect!!
Thanks for sharing, glad we could help! We're sorry to hear about your husband though, our condolences.
@@1-Tom-Plumber Thank You.
This husband is so handy. The wife should keep him for sure. Thank you for useful video.
No worries there! Thanks for watching!
You’re the man!! After what seemed like an hour trying to get it loose, I just decided to cut it off. Thank you!
Glad it helped! And nice job getting it done!
Worked like a charm! Thank you so much!! I used an electric sawzall, flat head screwdriver, and pliers. Over and done in less than 2 minutes. 😁
God bless!
Great CZcams. Author was so gracious in accepting suggestions from others. And the vinegar solution was confirmed as effective by others. All of this makes a great helpful community. Thank you.
Thank you!
Add another happy customer! Thank you! Thank you! I can't believe I made such a dumb decision to buy this hose as I knew about galvanic bonding but didn't pay attention to the fitting on the hose.
yup agree. this worked. cut diagonal until you can see the inside very slighty and put in a flathead screwdirver to pry it slightly open and turn the garden hose attachment so you can remove it from the spigot. Thank you
This helped me as well with a splitter that wouldn't let go (and was leaky). I had the hacksaw and channellocks, but I wasn't sure if I was going to make a mess. The instructions and especially the screwdriver trick got me through. Thanks!
Just used this on our stuck garden hose outside and it worked! Thank you so much!
After wasting half a can of WD-40, this is what finally worked for me. Thank you!!!
No problem 🤝
Thank you for taking time to make this video. Your method worked for me! I had spent a lot of time working on removing my garden hose and no luck, until I saw your video. I got it off in no time. Thank you!!
Spot on brother. Last one I cut had to be peeled half way before it would break free. Super quick and easy! Takes minutes
This worked like a charm. Thank you so much. It literally took under 2 minutes. I cut it gently at a 45 degree angle then just popped the flat head screwdriver in the cut and popped it open. Trying to loosen it was too much work. Thanks brother, this method worked so much easier. And now my new hose is in place.
Thank you for a no-nonsense, straight to the point tutorial. You helped me out immensely. Thank you so much.
You're welcome! We're glad you found this tutorial helpful and we hope to help more in the future! Thank you for your comment 😄
Best advice ever. I got it off and this time the Teflon tape is on. Thank you, so much
Thank you, my water hose was stuck for over 2 years and finally got it out using this technique.
That's awesome!
Thanks for making this video! It was exactly what we needed to change out a stuck hose today.
PERFECT! I even have the same hose with that blasted stuck on connector. Your instructions allowed me to disconnect the hose in literally 5 minutes (used my Milwaukee M12 cut-off tool with metal cutting blade). Your wisdom and expertise is very much appreciated, Thank you!
same here, I have the same exact hose with that connector!
Thanks a lot! This worked perfectly well; it saved me all the guesswork. Next time I may give the vinegar dampened towel solution a try.
Worked like a charm. Now to do my front of the house hose.
Great video, thanks so much! I appreciate the up-close footage and your explanations. I hope you are having a nice day! 🙂
Thank you very much for this video. Mine had been stuck for weeks. This worked.
Thank you so much! We were going to have the spigot replaced to get the leaking hose off. With your help I removed the hose myself!
That's fantastic. So glad it worked for you, Kathy!
Thank you for this! Such a simple solution. It never crossed my mind to cut off the hose flange.
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much - I have tried for days to come up with a way to undo two hose connections. This worked - a little more work for me than you had but it worked... thank you - thank you- I think I love you now 🤩
Glad it helped
Thanks for doing this video! I had run out of ideas how to get the hose off the spigot ... Your solution worked great!
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful, Doug.
Worked like a charm and saved me $$. Thanks for sharing this. I can confirm works perfectly as shown here!
The cutting method definitely saved me some money. I've been trying to fix this problem without turning to CZcams on and off for a year with WD-40. Slowly cutting with saw and using flathead got it to come right off exactly like video.
Glad we could help out!
This was perfect! Well explained and executed. Really helpful! Thanks
Worked perfectly! Had to ask my neighbor for a little help with wrench turning, but it came off super easy. Great video for a single mom on the go!!
Glad it helped!
Life saver! I was able to fix it myself thanks to your video💪🏻😁Thank you sooo much! Great video!
It worked!! I removed my rusted spigot in under 10 minutes. Thanks so much. 🙌🏽
Thank you so much for your video! I was able to remove the hose using the hack saw!
Your method worked perfect for me. Much thanks.
Thank you for the detailed explanation and close-up!
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid - thank you! Didn't want to call my rental company maintenance over this one - and I learned how to recycle my hose instead of throwing it out like I thought I would have to do.
Glad it helped! Thank you, Bei!
Thank you!! Saved me getting a handyman!
Thanks Dino tried PB Blaster multiple times. It worked perfectly thanks for posting. This girl appreciates these educational videos.
Great to hear!
❤❤thank you so much for this tip! I did it myself today and it worked!!!
Thank you! I almost called the plumber, and I came across your video. Vary easy to do!
Awesome, I'm glad we could save you some money and time! 😀
This worked!!! Amazing easy! Thank you.
Thank you. This was the best way to remove the hose. (And all this time I just thought my girlfriend was weak) 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Bwahaha! Anytime, Joe. Glad it helped (with your wife!). ;-)
Thank you for the video. This saved me a ton of time and money.
A big thank you for the directive sir. Best regards
This solution worked great for me. Thanks. I used an oscillating tool with a steel cutting blade. I made the recommended 45-degree cut just deep enough for the screw driver. The thing came off as you said it would. No more aluminum hose fittings at my house. Thanks for the great tutorial.
So glad it helped you!
This worked perfect, but instead used vibrating tool to cut aluminum. So quick! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Great video,
It helped me out very much. I have a pipe coming out of the house that i was always worried about breaking if i went o hog wild with the wrench. When my hose blew I knew this was the exact method I would use and it worked perfectly. I was extra careful not to cut to deep. The screw driver pry method was great at finishing off the job!
Thanks
Glad it helped!
You saved me from having to cut my house open to access the pipe to install a new spigot! This absolutely worked!!! I love you!!!! ❤️
Glad I could help!
Very helpful! Completed in less than 30 mins. Thank you!!
Thank you, we're glad we could help!
Thanks! You're a life saver. I couldn't get my hose off for nothing, but this only took me 5 minutes! 💪🏾
You're welcome! We're glad we could help you with your hose issue. If you need any more plumbing assistance, feel free to look at our other videos or contact us for help! 👍
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! I have been soak my connection with CLR to attempt to break up the hard water 'glue'. Would have never thought of the saw - awesome - and great remedy to add Teflon tape to prevent further issues - hopefully!
Glad it helped!
Wow, I’m trying this tomorrow! Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! My dad passed away last year so I am basically left with the task of fixing things around the house and organizing tools and such. I can't tell you how frustrating I was with that stuck hose to spigot at the house. I never thought of cutting it off. I was banging on it, which loosen it, but still wouldn't let go. It was basically infused together. I will try this out to see if it'll fix it. Again, thank you, and God bless. ASE!
We hope it helps!
Truly fantastic tip! I had tried brute force (vice grip), liquid wrench and heat with no success. Had to make two cuts to get the entire coupling off, but worked great! My f,lowers and veggies thank you,
Tell your flowers and veggies, I've got their back :)
Yup, it was fused on and used penetrating silicon.. no go, used heat with wrench, no go, last thing I wanted to do is wrench the spigot off or crack the pipe and I could tell if I used mush more pressure that's just what would have happen. Found your tip, I used hand held mini hack saw at an angle and then cracked open with screw driver... worked like a champ. Thanks! Teflon tape tip was much appreciated as well.
If this ever happens again, just Use vinegar, Search for my name in the comments. Several have already found out it works.
Thank you for sharing this trick. It worked great 👍🏻
SO GLAD I decided to find out how to get my stuck hose off the spigot...worked perfectly...no $150 bill for a plumber 😀
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much. We followed your instruction and fixed ours today!
Way to go, Sally! Glad to hear it. And thanks for watching. :-)
I did it!!! on two hoses. Thank you.
I cut the old stuck metal connector off and it worked ! thanks !
Glad it helped!
Thank you! I just followed your instructions and it worked great!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for keeping it simple
You bet
You saved my butt on this one bruh. Used a mini hacksaw and it came right off as you demonstrated. thanks very much!
So glad it helped, Fred. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, just saved me money! Had a large saw and was able to put a little elbow grease to it and go that old connector off.
So glad we could help!
I only poured hot water on it, used the slip joint pliers to unscrew the hose from the spigot.
You just made my honey do list a little easier. Thank you.
Glad I could help!
Awesome!! I had to cut my hose off at the nozzle last year cause the thing just wouldn’t come off. Headed to the store after work tomorrow for a hacksaw and getting it done. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the great advice. I've made 3 prior attempts, last time spraying with Liquid Wrench. One metal saw to the rescue
Awesome! Great job, I'm glad we could help!
Thank you! I had to saw longer than you did, but it worked! I had tried PB blaster and put so much that the fumes were getting to me. Next task is to try fitting new brass end pieces.
Mine took allll day, but finally got it off. It looks like the threads were flattened on one side! Now i just take the hose off each time so it doesn’t happen again
@@tarahwilliams7325 I got the new brass fittings put on and water shot out all over the place. Hardware store guy let me bring the hose in and he cut a little more off of it reattached the fittings and that stopped the leaking. The brass should not meld to the spigot but after that ordeal I remove the hose after use too.
Thanks so much ! Worked great !
Thanks for sharing the great tips! It is simple, and works!
You're welcome, I'm glad we could help! 👍
Thank so much. I've got two garden hoses I can't get off their spigots. That's what I get for buying cheap garden hoses with aluminum attachments.
Glad to help!
Thank you so much! Hugely helpful video - just broke our screwdriver but the hose is off. Finally!! Thank you!
You're welcome! Sorry to hear about your screwdriver though...😕
It worked for us!!! Thank you!
Thanks. I am having a hard time deciding to take this approach. I just bought the hose last week!!
It works. Just go slow and don't strip the threads off of your spigot.
Just tried the method and it worked. One slice didn't do the trick as it was on the spigot super tuff. I made an X and that loosened it enough to twist it off with the wrench. Thanks for the helpful tip. ✌
Thanks for the extra tip about the X! I used that and it helped tremendously!
Dino thanks so much! we had our hose stuck for ages your technique works many many thanks 😁
That's great to hear, Greg. Thanks for letting me know.
Yes that saved us
Though I admit I may have over hacked a bit I was able to remove the hose but now it leaks from the faucet silly me
A million thanks!!!!!! Video is spot on!!!
THANK you very much!
Very well explained and in details. Appreciate this.
A Plummer wants 300.00 just to remove my stuck on hose.
No problem!
Thanks! Very simple and easy. Better yet, I didn't need to buy any spray or chemicals as recommended in other videos.
Thanks for the video! Super helpful. Got mine off in less than 10 minutes.
That's awesome!
DUDE. Thank you so much. I even have the exact hose that you do. Great video.
No problem 👍
Thanks Dino! You saved the day!
No problem!
Thanks a million well explained and executed, you are a life saver……..frustration was slowly creeping upon me. Lol 👍🏽💯
Glad it helped!
Been trying to get mine off all week. Gonna try out the hacksaw in a couple of hours once the sun comes up.
This worked perfectly, thank you!!
Glad it helped!
LIFE SAVER !!! THANKS
Thanks, so much, I would have never thought of this. My spigot in not very secure to the wall, and I was afraid if I used a pair of long channel locks, I may bust the pipe. The hacksaw worked perfectly!
I did the same thing.
Worked great! Thank you!
Thank you thank you! Awesome! Helped me solving the same issue. 👍😊
Of course!
Great tutorial!
Thank you, Dominic!
Thanks, Tom. It worked!! Much appreciated!!!!!
My pleasure!
Such good instructions!!! Thanks amillion!
