    I was hoping something besides that would work. I had a front yard garden hose that I could not get off. Torquing channel locks on the connector was unscrewing the spigot from the raised and exposed up-from-a-main pipe, over and back down underground pipe. I used a Dremel Tool (rotary tool) and a cutting disk to slit it, and I got down into the spigot threads pretty good, but not so deep as to cause a leak. I cleaned the spigot threads with the Dremel Tool and a wire wheel bit, coated them with Anti-Seize, installed a new female hose spigot adaptor on the cut hose end, and put Anti-Seize in those threads, too, used a new hose washer, screwed onto the spigot, and it works like a charm. This Dremel Tool was a Christmas gift decades ago and I use for all kinds of things. There are tons of attachments and accessories for all kinds of jobs. The cutting disks are much thinner than any angle grinder disk and they come in a few thicknesses and two diameters that I know of for various needs. A good Dremel Tool would be worth the investment.
    I have a MultiPro Variable Speed Model 395 Type 5 and it came with a flex shaft (which I've never used), a variety of bits, and a nice hard case with a handle on top. Check out the bits and accessories. You'll be amazed. I use it a lot, so I recently bought spare brushes for it as I know they'll go out one day. There are other replacement parts, too.
    It should not leak because a NEW washer will seal any water from getting to the threads. You might want to change the internal spigot washers and/or seals while you're at it. If you Google it, you'll see that washing machine hoses are recommended to be replaced as a set every few years, but I can't remember how often. They obviously need it, so go ahead and replace the other one, too, and turn off the water to the house, pull both spigot internals, or the complete spigots if you can without damaging the copper pipes, and clean and replace as necessary while you're behind the washing machine. New hoses and spigot maintenance will save problems later. Good luck!

      @JOEZEP54  Před 11 měsíci +2

      A Dremel Tool is on my list. I bought one from Harbor Freight awhile back but it was not a positive purchase. I believe you are correct about the new washer by itself would prevent any leak. So far all good no leaks. I know it is recommended to change the hoses every "so many years", couldn't tell you for sure how many years these hoses were used but long passed the time.

      @@JOEZEP54 Dremel is about the only brand worth having in America. Black and Decker used to make one, but they dropped it a couple years ago. TackLife is a European brand and, if you can find one, it should do well, too. I'd suggest researching and get a "Better" or "Best" out of Good, Better, Best. Not Harbor Freight, but a variable Dremel. Mine is rather heavy duty and also because they support it with replacement parts. Mine has lasted for decades without any maintenance or servicing yet and I use it regularly. Not daily, but a lot. I know you'll love it. Mine is variable speed, but the slowest speed has always been enough. The slowest speed actually sounds very fast.

    I've never had problems removing any connections where Teflon tape was used. Manufacturer instructions conflict on whether or not to use Teflon tape on connections that use a washer seal. From my experience, it doesn't hurt, and it may help seal the connection. It may help seal connections by lowering friction so you can make a tighter connection with the washer, or maybe it actually does fill in irregularities in the threads. Metals in a vacuum are susceptible to cold welding which is a problem astronauts on spacewalks have. That's what soldering does requiring heat, flux, and a molten metal to achieve. Teflon might help prevent that or at least fill up voids so minerals can't built in them.

    At the 2:40 mark where you have the pipe wrench on it you appear to be turning it clockwise. Unless it's left hand thread that would be tightening it, not loosening.

    Just did mine inside a recessed cubby hole. 🙄 Once I got it cut, it would not budge. Nothing worked. Vinegar, WD-40, PB Blaster. Hammer and small chisel then peeled it off with needle nosed pliers like a can opener. Of course I nicked the threads too. Never again. I already have my new set of hoses for the ready.

    I had a similar situation. First I tried the usual WD 40 &. No luck using my hand. Things escalated quickly after that. I showed it the sledgehammer & it was unfazed. Can’t show weakness with these stuck faucets so I had to hit it at least once. No dice.
    What I really needed was an air strike. I was about to call it in when I realized I’m a civilian these days & can no longer do that
