Since CZcams holds a monopoly on the long form online video market then the only way to avoid using the service in the intended manner is using it in other ways, such as with ad block. Biggest reason I'll be dropping Chrome when they go Manifest v3 isn't adblocker. It's also going to break noscript style applications that let you control/block cross-site scripting. I refuse to use the web without the ability to explicitly whitelist script-execution sources.

    • @Funwayguy
      @Funwayguy Před rokem +14

      Though I already use Firefox, I could not imagine not having script blockers or my tamper monkey scripts. It's also quite sad how many people are falling into the trap of believing the narrative of blockers still 'working' when in reality if you look at the per-extension and global filter limitations, it's damn near impossible to accurately cover what is necessary for modern ad/script blocking. Not only that but Google can arbitrarily reduce the limits over time at which point the filters will silently fail per design, something which AdGuard admits can happen if people read their blog posts breaking down how badly every kind of blocker is now crippled.

    • @Funwayguy
      @Funwayguy Před rokem

      If you want to get into a bit of conspiracy territory, the way these limitations are setup make it much harder to block ad networks on large dynamic CDNs like... surprise... Google, Microsoft and Amazon. On the flip side, smaller companies get screwed because their smaller networks are trivial to include within these limits. It's low-key anti-competitive but Google can hand wave it away by pointing at the blockers they forced into this position.

    I've tried to look in the Manifest V3 and it seems that it is a completely change the role of and addon in the request-response pipeline, rather than some attempt to limit adblocker. Rather than a response passing through an addon that can modify it, addon makes needs to specify filters and those get applied by the Chromium engine (on Brave as well).

    I haven't used Chrome or Brave(Chromium) since the whole scandal of them injecting affiliate links thing. Firefox is very capable and nice. Chrome is long past its days as the "best" browser imo.

      Yeah I use it on occasion. Only reason I don't use firefox more is simply because for whatever reason a few websites I use (mostly school related ones) only work on chromium based browsers, which is stupid.

      Blink is a great engine and it's fast, but it isn't worth Google's shitty practices. I've been on Chromium which eliminates a lot of Google proprietary garbage while taking advantage of Blink, but the plugin change is inevitably going to impact Chromium too, so I'm done with them soon. It'll take normies a couple of years to catch on to what's happening.

      @@nesyboi9421 it's lazy website making practices; since the most used browser is chrome, and most alternatives are also chromium forks, they don't bother testing on any other engine, which leaves issues when using firefox/waterfox, safari or the other rare browsers that have their own engines

    Next step: Require per-CZcamsr Memberships to avoid ads, like Twitch subs. For just $160 per month, you can watch any 10 CZcamsrs without ads! And your favorite creators will even get to keep 70%--wait no 50%---wait no 30% of that money (15% after taxes and fees).

    The current CZcams premium at £12.99 a month in the UK is more expensive Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Now TV, Paramount+. If CZcams made premium a sensible price it wouldn't be so bad. I have no interest in CZcams music but there's no cheaper option for just the video features!

    Having a premium option creates a perverse incentive to make the free version as bad as possible to push people to the subscription.
    They can lose 90% of their free users and make up for it in subscription money. It is a more reliable income source that any business would choose if they had the option between that ad revenue from views.

    Just a heads up, the PS5 exploit chain does NOT allow you to install anything from unofficial sources. The only things that can be installed are packages that are signed and unmodified from psn. So nothing fancy like homebrew or anything, just either games you already owned and have the license for or things that don't require a license like demos or apps
