When I pause something, it's usually to see something in more detail. Throwing an ad there would be actively disruptive.

That deepfake AI Principal story was actually scary as fuck. I mean ads are an inconvenience, but that story is pure dystopian life-changing scary arse shit, if people that dumb can do it so easily.
And you know there are systems and investigators too dumb to get to the bottom of it.
the full story is even worse. 3 teachers (including the one who faked it) had it e-mailed to them. One of the others (possibly also in on it) immediately sent it to some students to have them spread it all over social media, while the teacher also sent it off to media outlets. Just a few e-mails and lives ruined because that's how social media has changed our reality

In olden times Person B would say (with their mouth) that Person A did such-and-such or said such-and-such; such testimony might or might not be true. (Actually this type of testimony is still used in courts, e.g., the Weinstein case.) Dan Rather lost his job because he reported on some fake documents. It happened a long time ago, before the current AI panic.
If everyone is producing fake recordings all the time with AI, then maybe people will stop believing that all recordings must immediately be taken at face value without any attempt to verify that it's a genuine recording?
I mean, that photo of the Pope and Elvis riding a flying motorcycle into an alien spaceship must be real, right? No way that could be fake.
Imagine pausing because it was loading slow then it continues to load an ad..
I've noticed a few years ago fhat when I have terrible buffering issues CZcams even with low resolution videos, the ads load perfectly fine in hd.
The reason it's buffering is it's loading the advert into memory prioritising the advert over the video you're trying to watch
Once the adverts are downloaded, your video will play normally

By the way, the buffer in videos doesn't normally go past 60ish seconds the current watch time. Ad buffers load almost the entire ad before playing. Even if that ad is several hours long
Imagine pausing because the video has chapters with a text introduction to each chapter and you just want to read it (because there's no voice over for that part).
Remember when ads were just in the beginning and the end of the video and CZcams lets you skip it regardless of how long the ads was.

When I pause a video, it's usually because someone started talking to me and I need to listen. If an ad starts when I pause I will have to stop using CZcams.
I'm sure there will be a extension that will auto-mute youtube when you pause a video.

Sadly, no adblock for the TV format. I was shocked watching YT with my family. Half of the ads are either propaganda or obscene. Well, shocked is the wrong term. More like eye-rolling and feeling gross. My poor eyeballs were moist before this, but no more. Is there a program for re-moistening?

Nothing is worse than pause ads. Pause something for a phone call. Boom, something twice as loud that I have no control over blowing up the mic on my phone. Oh, or pause to use the restroom, ad plays, then keeps playing your video even though you clicked pause because why not, and on and on.
Or pausing to think or for silence (something I do often) I can totally imagine how annoying it would be to have a loud ad playing when you're trying to get some silence.

i would love for some Bulk Editing tools for Playlists like removing/replacing Deleted & Privated videos, or being able to move multiple videos from one playlist to another. Before youtube, when I was regularly reading books...well, these were for college, I learned that the average person (in the US at least), sees an average of 22,000 ads a year. This didn't factor into account the internet.

Run into the mountains, the sky itself becomes covered in ads.

The advertising industry is the biggest parasite on the economy, wasting people's time, misleading people, tricking people into downloading malware, all that probably costs economies billions of dollars a year in damages and lost productivity. It's time to abolish advertising all together.

The excess amount of ads needs to be reported to the FTC
The ads where the volume is louder than the video itself needs to be reported to the FCC. The FCC needs to add streamers to the CALM Act. The loudness is an intentional change that’s somewhat recent.

I’ve noticed that my phone used to be able to do a pop-out window so I can watch youtube while doing other stuff, but stopped doing that amidst their crusade against adblock. But if it’s an ad then it will still pop-out even if I try to make it go away or turn my phone screen off. Both of which would just automatically pause the video before. So hearing that they might start rolling ads during pauses…. great…. makes me soooooo excited…

i remember back when youtube first started using banner ads people were saying it'll only get worse and well have video ads going rampant and how other were just saying thatll never happen and they were being paranoid, ill admit i thought they were paranoid too but then the first video ads started appearing and then i seen the writing on the wall, the paranoid ones were right so i too looked into a solution and found out about adblockers and started using them myself, i haven't stopped since.

Brave or Opera is just another fork of Chromium which is also owned by Google. I'd recommend moving over to Mozilla.
The pause ad thing reminds me of how sketchy streaming sites I watched tv/anime on as a kid had popups every time you paused the video. That is definitely NOT a good comparison to be making.

It's not a legal issue so lawyers have nothing to do with it. You're not legally required to listen to youtube at work... and even if you were, CZcams never signed any contracts requiring them to make that experience not suck for you. Besides if it does end up sucking for you, use ad blockers, it's a thing, look into it.

Pause ads really makes me imagine executives wanting to just go full IOI and putting so many ads that they border on causing seizures, and/or the 4 to 1 ad to actual content ratios that appear on screens in Idiocracy, but realizing that they need to do it in increments.

Honestly if ads only appearing while paused was the thing I'd disable my ad blocker. Thing is I don't pause videos often and when people do pause it means they gotta leave their PC to do something, so obviously the ad wouldn't sell for much.
Why doesn't CZcams have multi monitor support? Play the video on my main screen and have an ad on an extra screen. My video is not obscured or interrupted. I'd be happy with that too.
If youtube REPLACES their current ad system with pause ads I might actually turn off my adblocker, but it would get really annoying if I am pausing to see something or go frame by frame or to get a screenshot

That was called premium lite. It was discontinued last year. It cost €7 a month, was only available in select countries and outside of them no one knew about it.

I got a lot of those ads on pause from youtube. It was terrible and was the major reason why I started using adblock again.
The problem was that I would PAUSE the video. The ad starts playing. Whatever, I leave, do what I planned like a bathroom break or getting some snacks. Then I come back only to find that after the ad finished, the video I was watching resumed automatically after I explicitly told it to pause. So I missed half a video and now need to waste time looking for a spot where I finished watching last time.

@@A1stardan idk. Even with the amount of YT my family consume I feel like the $25 a month I pay is far far more than the revenue generated if I were to watch ads. If more people paid for it they would just be making more money and it would lower the value and therefore the cost of paying to place ads.
The idea of partial-screen pause ads is great. When i pause to do something else, an ad can take the moment. I would 100% like this ads more than ads keeping me from the content i want.

Sounds like CZcams really wants to find some place to insert more ads. It's a shame the platform doesn't have a gigantic ocean of videos with no ads currently running on them. If only there were numerous unmonetized videos currently on the site, and they could just turn ads on for those videos, thus benefitting themselves and those creators. What a shame that there is literally nowhere else for them to put ads so they have to resort to inserting them when people pause videos.

Qualcomm does have a history of cheating on benchmarks in the Phone sector by allowing the phone to run in a much higher thermal state then it will otherwise allow in real applications, so i’m hoping reviewers will do proper thermal and power draw tests during those benchmarks.

I've seen these ads. I pause to talk to someone, then the ad plays and I can't talk to them.
I get the idea of pause ads, but my big issue is when I pause the video to go find another or read the description, and it opens a description of the ad where my video description and related videos should be. So now I need to close the ad, click on a different video, and watch another ad. This is why it's easier to block them.
