This is a thing on literally every electric car. It's essentially neutral, where the motors and battery is completely disengaged.

Back in the day "car wash mode" meant you'd unscrew the car antenna before going in.
Iirc the TikTok ban not only affects appstores, it also applies to ISPs, so even if you sideload it you won’t be able to access it without a VPN
And even then your data will still get sold and stored by the governments, you just pay extra for them to do so!

Car wash mode is a thing in every electric car. The reason for it is that the electric motors are always engaged normally, either for regen breaking or acceleration.

But the stainless steel on the cybertruck is neither rust proof nor bulletproof. The steel is too thin to stop anything stronger than a small pistol round and stainless steel will EVENTUALLY rust, it just takes a lot longer than other kinds of steel.

The danger presented by giving an Adversary access to American telemetry data on a mass scale had to be immediately solved.
Nuanced debates take time. Expert opinions have to weighed. Those talks need to happen. But they will take time.
The TikTok ban was an immediate response to an immediate problem. And that response doesn't preclude future legislation in the future. We can still have debates over an blanket action to adress larger social media issues.
That is still on the table.
