I said it back on the original video and I stick by my original statement. The LG Wing could have been the worlds greatest gameboy emulator.
You actually did huh !
why gameboy? you mean DS?
@@blueasisThe controls on the bottom, the screen on the top. Would be good for DS too though
@@blueasis Any of them, really! For older gameboy games, just having a full screen up top to show the game, and then controls down below would be wonderful. Then yeah for DS stuff the bottom screen could be utilized like a DS does. Would kinda ruin the idea of controls below though, so would take some specific developing.
@@naveenraj6984 I would never tell a lie on the internet. You get caught too fast lol
The LG Wing should have been S-tier, and it was proof that, even in LG's final moments as a phone company, they could still release genuinely interesting and hilariously wacky phones... I really miss that kind of thing now. 😔
Yeah, LG used to make great phones
The first LG phone I owned was a G3,
2k display, (used to flex with it 😎😂)
13MP camera with laser AF,
3GB ram 64GB storage and Best 32bit processor SD 801.
Rooting, custom roms support was also great.
That phone was so good that I bought 3 of them for my family.
If this thing came out today you wouldn't buy it
But you didn’t buy it when it came out like the rest of us lol
You didn’t buy it, just like most people. They’re a business and they don’t just spend on R&D and production for shits and giggles on a CZcams video
@@Ahmed14084no they didn’t they made different phones but they weren’t great. I saw the review on this phone and it was hilariously bad for a $1k phone
About the Nokia 1020. The Cortana assistant in mine was THE SINGLE best thing ever. I would tell it to remind me to get socks from Walmart, it would send me a notification anytime I was at a Walmart, any Walmart.
It was the single best contextual reminder assistant ever and I've never managed to replicate it.
This. It was the only assitant where the location based reminders actually worked. I would set up "remind me to X when I'm home" and it did that, every time. When I was forced to switch to android because win no longer did what I needed I abandoned location based reminders because they never worked reliably. Oh I miss those.
You can use Samsung Routines for this.
And the SMS, when driving with a Bluetooth, as soon as a message arrived cortana proposed to read it, ask for a reply and took it all by voice, my android 12 can't do this...
@@PyrrhosDauvet FR. It was just amazing. Cortana could do that YEARS before Google or siri could stop a song without the need of an internet connection.
That assistant was shockingly good for when it came out. My 1020 is probably my favorite phone ever other than my Huawei P30 Pro. Guess I'm a camera phone person lol
I swear to you, if the Blackberry Priv got revived TODAY, with modern specs, running Android 14, with at least an "okay" camera, I WOULD BUYYYYYYY THATTTT. I love MrMobile, dont get me wrong, but mama wants a BLACKBERRY LIKE THE GOOD OL' DAYS WITH MY Z10
PREACH!!! To this day I miss my Priv :( My Passport's still alive though (I dunno how)...
I still have my Priv and still love it more than any phone I have ever had. Now if it were to be released again with better battery, updated software and features, am buying it again
I'd have seriously considered buying it if the keyboard slid out landscape, and I'm someone that otherwise doesn't like Blackberry.
I wanted one back in the day, but I remember seeing about the issues with performance at the time and specifically I remember some security issues (not unlockable, bootloader maybe?) that made me say no in the end. Killer design tho.
Lumias at the time were S TIER, the issue wasn't even really Windows Phone itself, but rather all the devs that didn't want to bring their apps or support to the OS. Even to this day there are apps that refuse to work on Android because they're like "na', most people use iPhone so we're not making an Android version" and it sucks. I still miss my Lumia 930
I agree! It's camera was exceptional and to this day its boxy design is still a reference to me. The amoled display, the alumnium ...
I only had a L625 and I was dreaming of upgrading it to a flagship Lumia… Alas, I got the invite for OnePlus One… And nothing really happened on the Lumias to justify waiting.
From my point of view of a developer and user, Windows Phone was the Burger King of mobile platforms.
As a developer, it was unprofitable. Microsoft is too greedy, lacks creativity, and isn't quality driven. They were desperate for developers, but charged $99 a yearto be in the Windows Store. They also forced developers to update their apps with every update release. As a result, Windows phone struggled to attract third-party apps. Microsoft made it even worse by cutting off older devices from subsequent OS upgrades. It obliterated the existing installed base, resulting in an even smaller market for apps.
As a user, the Windows Phone UI was visually dull and confusing. It didn't have a cogent UI like the iPhone did. At times it was too fluffy and others it was too spartan. It also didn't copy one of Apple's hallmark features: the seamless integration with their existing ecosystem. Windows Phone just didn't work well with Windows and Office. Moreover, Microsoft screwed earlier Windows Phone customers by cutting them off from upgrades. Some had owned them for a few months.
The ui of the lumias were so cool, and they keyboards were phenomenal. Too bad they are gone.
For a pretty long time, about 1.5 years, Instagram was ios only if anyone remembers. I remember having to log in to my buddies' iphone 4, post a photo and then log out back lol
That Lumia is S tier asf
Seriously. That was an all around great phone, wasn't just great for the camera.
Windows phone was truly underrated. Had the Lumia 950 and the cameras on that were amazing too. The Ui was also really good. At least I thought so. Cool to see some of the tech in Androids now (windows continuum now samsung dex for example and type c being on all phones. Windows Hello I think also boosted biometric use for unlocking your phone with your face, or in this case, through iris scanning). Would be cool if the brought back windows mobile
windows phone was the best. my lumia remains my favorite phone of all
I'm still using the 1020 as a pocket camera. Even the battery is still in decent condition even though mine is a prototype so it has to be older than most 1020's, assuming the battery hasn't been changed. I got the phone used few years ago so I don't know the full history of it.
@@Pasi123 that's so cool! I've always wanted to the 1020 but at the time I couldn't get it with my carrier. They only had the 950. I actually watched the announcement of it while I was in class lol 😅 I think that was 2015 or 2016. The 1020 is unmatched. Legit, their hardware was really good! I especially loved the removable back on the 950. I remember getting two Mozo leather backs that launched same time but sold separately. Microsoft actually lowkey really out did themselves on both phones. Absolutely miss having a windows phone
The Nokia Lumia 1020 was the legendary Nokia 808 Pureview's successor (which was notorious for having a 41 megapixel camera - in 2012! It considered by many as being years ahead of the competition). It was released in 2013, I was 16 that year and social media was already big, albeit not as big as it is today. I think both of you forgot about Windows Phone OS as you did not mention it at all, just saying that the UI was good.
I actually like the LG Wing and I think it deserves a higher tier. I really like watching CZcams videos while simultaneously looking at the comments (multitasking).
The windows phone UI was genuinely S Tier at the time. It was way too interesting to have gone out so fast. I still remember when android and iOS users tried my windows phone and nobody could make sense of it lol.
I don't think not being able to make sense of the UI is as good of a UX feature as you think it is.
It was good, but the lack of apps made me not get a windows phone at the time
I'm watching this on my Wing in full screen while texting someone. I love it. I don't want a different form factor.
You kidding right?
@@xhevahircaushi9841 I'm not. I've owned this thing for years. It's buggy, but I love the form factor.
peak smartphone
The wing was sick
You are one of 10 that purchased that phone and the other 9 were CZcamsrs.
I had serious Android Authority flashbacks seeing David talk about phones again!
Why did he leave Android Authority
@@SandmanDeltaForce1he probably left for a better job opportunity at Marques' channel.
Android authority is pretty much dead it was on its way out when Joshua Vergara left
David is like the smartphone wikipedia. He just knows what phone it is along with the launch year and specs. That's sick.
I tried the BlackBerry Priv - I loved the keyboard just for the trackpad feature. You could read a site without your fingers getting in the way while you scroll. Needed a better camera, but I’d take it over the KeyOne.
C for the Lumia? That's poor judgement.
Lumia was way ahead of any Android or iPhone then. Windows phone OS is something I still miss using, the simplicity and style was amazing.
The clean and thoughtful UI for the camera, most informative yet well organised home screen, pure zen mode type animations 🔥 and that instant access to the camera shutter button are just a few. The bold colour options, build quality, heat management, amazing battery life and the list goes on. Cortana was years ahead of Google now and Siri.
The poor strategy of Steve Ballmer of not being able to bring in the developers onto the platform killed an amazing chance of a strong competition.
And ya the crisp and clear photos.
Indeed. All the UI flatness was called ugly then and is state of the art now. If only there were apps :(
Windows Phones were absolutely top tier amazing. The best phones to use and Nokia did fantasic with the designs. However, like you said, the lack of software killed it. Even me, who loved Windows Phone, eventually moved to Android just because I couldn't even do 25% of the cool stuff my friends were doing with their phones.
@@linuxlebt weird, i remember this the opposite way, the simple UI felt really state of the art at the time, back then simplification was very on trend. but today "ui flatness" is starting to feel really stale/boring/corporate.
like you couldn't even set a home screen wallpaper on Windows Phone without it awkwardly "only showing through the tiles" (and this wasn't even added till a later update.) the full dark mode UI was very unique at the time but even then every app using the same colors and black background felt very basic - and it feels even more basic now.
however, i do get why many feel that it was underrated. it ran really smoothly even on low end hardware and the UI animations + gestures were very well done. i'm familliar with Windows Phone as i frequently used one at the time ~2014
@@TC64XI used to dially a Nokia X on my middleschool day (and that phone basicly is just Android with Windows phone skins on top of it) and I love it since at the time Windows phone was quite expensive plus you can't use BlackBerry Messenger on windows phone at the time
I think it could be an interesting Idea for Nokia if they continue to develop it after the windows phone failed instead of just a rebranding a garbage HMD Phone and releasing some gimmicky dumb phone (which again was a cool concept) since you can basicly run some basic android app like WhatsApp and can make a great secondary device which ended up not because the battery life sucks and they didn't optimize most of the app for it (again good concept but poor execution)
I think it was ugly then and still ugly now. I hate the way current Android and current iOS looks, too, so I'm not judging one and not the others. I'll admit that it did have some innovative features that were totally not copied from Ubuntu Touch. Convergence (or Continuum as MS called it) was and still is an awesome idea.
The Wing is absolutely an S tier phone.
RIP LG, the G6 is my absolute favourite form factor for a phone, it was the perfect size, had the perfect amount of bezel to be able to hold the phone horizontally, and the power button/finger print reader was on the back where it belongs!
Myself and a few friends had the LG Nexus. The power button stopped working on all of them. Never bought another LG phone.
I also had the g6 it felt like a armour so much quality even though it wasn't that heavy and also the perfect power button placement ever
No way the wing is a S tier
@@Jason-se6dh FU! It's S Tier!
Yea this guy have something againt LG, Very obvious bias against LG
Watching this on my Duo 2. You guys should have reved these phones with the latest updates.
I'm also watching this on my first edition Duo that I bought a month ago (I preferred to have my camera on the front) 😂 I really needed this type of device, it won't appeal to the mainstream but for someone who is productive and does a lot of multitasking it's a dream phone.
same, 1st gen club. it does still derp out on occasion, but it's the best 'two phones' i've ever used. and it's just plain fun.
LG wing is atleast an A tier(Atleast the hardware aspect), I mean
1. Content(Landscape reels and vids)+comments
2. Controllers at handy
3. mini screen acting as a trackpad
Wow, it would have been so much fun
After joining Ridge as an executive, I feel like it would be good to mention that he works for Ridge and change some verbiage. Rather than “They launched this mag safe wallet” it would be nice to see “we launched this mag safe wallet” or at least disclose his position. No hate, just think it would be an honest disclosure if not everyone is aware that he has an executive relationship with a sponsor.
Disagree
@@Garythefireman66 u need to give a reason why you disagree other than that u like mkbhd
I would agree with this statement.
If Linus discloses he has stock in framework, he should be able to disclose this.
It's more of just a friendly reminder for others as Andy said. Heck, I forgot about it still he said it
Ah I wasnt aware he was an executive there. That leaves a sour taste in my mouth
Maybe this was recorded long before he joined Ridge
I loved using the LG wing when traveling. Watching YT and texting at the same time is such a blessing
You can do that on any regular phone😅
@@sayandeepthrowaway no, not really.
If you use split screen the video is super tiny on the top and the UI bugs out when opening the keyboard.
- chat via bubbles but that will cover the video and bug out the ui.
- have the tiny video in a floating window but that will cover ui elements of the chat.
- directly reply to a message bubble but that covers the video, bug out the ui and you can't really read the chat in full.
so no, nothing beats a physically second screen.
@@Soundwave857 Hi, Yes your use case is pretty cool. But hear me out, have you tried picture in picture for CZcams, it is floating and you can resize and move it any way you want, you want to read something, put it in the bottom, have to type? Put it at top. I do agree yours is more cooler and gives more screen real-estate, but I meant any other phone can also do that.
a lot of Android phone doesn't have this resizable feature, and you have to pay for youtube premium to have picture-in-picture@@sayandeepthrowaway
@@sayandeepthrowaway I have tried that yes, The video is still tiny, in the way of everything and a hassle to use and navigate
The Lumia Camera app was gorgeous! So well designed. They made it even better in Lumia 950.
Maan I remember everytime I went to a phone store I'd play with the Nokia Lumia 1020, never got a chance to own one. What a sweet phone!
Essential phone was a great deal when the price on Amazon dropped to ~$250
I remember wanting it so bad, but unfortunately it was never released in my country. Goated phone for that price.
Yes!!! It came out as 699 I think. Then it could not compete with top Samsung or iPhone. Then they cut prices, but still didn't sell much. And on Amazon prime day I bought for 220. Best phone I've ever had.
@@14przemoIO I flew to the states on vacation just to get it. Amazing phone. Used it for years.
It was getting Android updates before Pixels. They really stepped up their support after all of the backlash and made a fantastic device. After my PH-1 broke I finally switched to an iPhone as I could not go back to a device with no long term updates.
I had one only because the CEO of Sprint had some contest going on Twitter where he asked for you to tell him what your favorite Android phone was. If you were selected you got a free Essential phone. I was surprised when he responded to my post. It was pretty snappy but I already had an unlocked Pixel 2XL so I ended up selling it on eBay.
The LG wing is an iconic device. I remember when Tony stark had an LG phone in Iron Man 1, and it flipped open in this exact same way. That was the concept phone LG based to get this one out.
Definitely deserves an S tier.
True!
That was the LG VX9400! My last and favorite dumb phone! Still miss it to this day😢
Also the Blue Beetle movie they used the LG Wing . That caught me by surprise.
The Wing is a great device, but saying Tony Stark had one isn't a compliment.
Bing Bing Wahoo
This has to be a series of various videos!!!
I loved every single second of it remembering old phones.
I really really loved this vid!
I love all your vids, but finally using David's experience as a phone reviewer is dope, please do more of these
the phones sliding on the table 😭
Painfull 😅
Goosebumps right?!
And they were brutal with it too like😭
I had an Essential PH1 that was purchased new and unlocked off Amazon. I used AT&T as my carrier. I drove that for four years until the glass cracked and died. Then my family made me switch to an iPhone so they could “find me”. Miss that PH1.
The hardware was the best of any phone. I wish we got a second one
The notch and missing headphone jack though.
Ahead of its time 😂
@@hat1324 lol yeah. The modular DAC was a cool concept though
Loved the concept of this video😊
I worked in phone sales from 2010-2022 got to enjoy all of these, such a throw back. Love this.
It’s nice that more effort is getting put into The Studio channel, we are getting more frequent video’s
Nokia Lumia is S Tier
Yeeeeeees
Yes siiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrr
I said the same thing
I remember using Windows Phone launcher theme on my old Android because I was dreaming on having a Lumia back then. Too bad that Windows Phone died too soon because most app devs were not interested on making (or porting) their apps for Windows Phone
Man, the amount of Nostalgia...Marques has made videos on all of these devices and I being an absolute fan went back to watch all the old videos for each phone. Damn Time Flies
Love this series you should keep doing them!
Every once in a while, I use two slab phones concurrently holding them as if it's an LG Wing and I wish this form factor was allowed to develop.
Bro the Surface Duo is amazing..... design-wise. I still play around with mine from time to time, and wish there were a newer version with good software and no bezels...
Currently using the Z Fold 5 and WISHING it was as wide and ultrathin as the Surface Duo.
Did they not get the updates?
@@revrodgers Nah, it's stuck on Android 12 (without the cool folding phone features) and a very old security update, forever.
Also the single screen aspect ratio is hard to hold, but apps and web pages are so nice to use with the extra width.
Same, got a fold 5 but I wish it was the size of a duo but still using a foldable oled. Issue is that Microsoft of all ppl got a bad software and Samsung one Ui got so much tinkering capabilities missing on any other foldable...
The thiness is unreal. Makes me wonder if we'll get tablets in the future that'll be like holding sheets of paper.
I still rather have two really nice screens with a hinge vs the weird plastic bending screens foldables have now.
LG Wing was so neat. I wish it had succeeded.
Also this video is missing the Panasonic CM01 (a phone that was also a mirrorless camera with a moggo leica lens).
Every blackberry from the late 2000's and onward is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to just have one cause how nice they are to look at and hold.
The BlackBerry Priv could have been a C though. Loved all my BlackBerries from the curve, passport, Z3 and the Dteks.
What about the HTC Desire series?
Bring back the chin!!!!
Dunno about Desire, but imagine an OG Hero reboot... take my money!
also Xiaomi Blackshark
i had the HTC Desire 828. Man that phone sucked.
Desire Z was S-tier.
I feel personally attacked lol. Besides the flexpai, I've either owned or seriously considered buying every phone on this list. Seeing the Surface Duo get a D hurt my soul. Still use mine from time to time.
This guys don't know wot they are saying. Surface Duo is the best niche phone ever. If u know u know.
I agree with the Surface Duo. I wouldn't get it ever because Microsoft creeps me out, but I think there is milage in hard screen foldables.
As a PH-1 owner I feel validated. And even better when it dropped so much in price! Great video guys, thank for the trip down memory lane :)
I enjoyed the Surface Duo and still use it to this day
this was fun, i'd be so down for a part 2. love taking a walk down memory lane!
Marques and David are so top tier together
Loved that video, awesome to see all of those products I used to dream about
I miss the Windows Phone UI! Loved it so much and the keyboard was just pefect.
3:07 Mkbhd almost said "The vibration motors was the wors..." 😅
He did say that though...
I remember the NextBit Robin. I wanted it simply because it looked so good. But the cloud gimmick was bad enough that it swayed me away from it
Love these retrospective looks at classic devices!
i love the set for this video so chill
What about the Amazon Fire Phone?
I kept thinking they were going to bring it out lol
I kept thinking they were going to bring it out lol
Ok, this format was 👌. More tier lists, please.
The LG Wing remains my 2nd favorite phone of all time, next to my current Z Fold 4. Holding the phone 1 handed in gimbal mode while taking landscape photos and videos and having the controls at my thumb was great. So was watching a full screen video and having a/v controls on the small screen so I can adjust volume, brightness, and play/pause without having to touch the video itself. I love having it in the t-shape mounted in my car with maps on one screen for nav and music controls on the second screen. Not having the camera take up any screen real estate was fab, and it had a sensor where if you dropped the phone, the camera snapped back into the phone. You could also use the big screen as a controller analog for games running on the small screen if you held it upside down, it even had built in software to design and map your own controller. It was ahead of it's time and I wish more had come of that form factor.
Still an LG Wing owner. Coming up to year 4. Battery life is awesome, replaced the back glass once myself with ease, use gimbal mode on holidays, and constantly use T mode for emails. I love my wing!
More of these! Also new EDC
I am still holding out for a Priv 2. A clicky little keyboard on a decent Android device would be the cure to my depression.
Blackberry Priv with that slide up keyboard reminds me of the Palm Pre. One of my favorite phones ever
YOOOOOO The Blackberry Priv, I had forgotten about that phone, I had it and remember loving the track pad function on the keyboard
We need a Marques vid on Windows Phone
He'd just butcher it so no thanks
only to hear bad and liar things.
No we don't, he's got no idea about Windows phone.
I was so excited for the Blackberry Priv, when reviews hit saying it just wasnt a good phone I was devastated.
I want a modern smartphone with a keyboard
Same here. Phones with physical keyboards were so satisfying to text and email from. Now it feels like a chore
It's great to see the positive energy and teamwork that Marques shares with his crew
Definitely need to see another one of these!
Lg wing while driving Lyft.
Driver app on the top, and Spotify on the bottom. It was one of the best phones ever!
Whaaat, the BlackBerry Priv was awesome I don't remember having any performance issues. I had to finally stop using it because the power button broke but it's still the best android phone I've ever had.
I remember it stuttering a lot
As a phone nerd this was a dope video checking out some of these old devices. That essential build quality is still one of the best I’ve had in hand.
my favorite of this list has to be LG wing, from that hinge engineering to camera gimble UI to game showing mini map on different screen to a lot, they did a lot for that phone, dope AF
How about phones with stereo cameras? I still use one of those to take pictures and videos, because nothing after it can replicate it in this small form factor.
something happened with audio quality in this video? like compression etc. it sounds muffled
i found a ton of uses for the lg wing, specifically having google maps on the big screen and music controls on the small screen, also watching a CZcams video and texting on the small screen. it was my favorite phone
The Sony Cybershot phones really started to push boundaries of cameras in phones. Remember owning the c905 back in 2009 and that thing was a beast. Remember people not understanding that I pulled out a phone and not a camera at the time because I had to slide down the cover to reveal the lens, haha
I had that one too. Great camera! I was very very reluctant to switch to smartphones because of this.
LG wing deserves S tier man 😢
Seeing Marques interact with the crew one on one is really cool given the relationship. Would love to see more!
I remember watching your original review of the yellow Nokia 1020 and absolutely loving everything about it. I immediately got off of school and went to an AT&T store and just messed around with the camera for at least an hour. And they had a super elaborate demo to test it out too, nothing but good memories. Didnt have the money to buy one though lol
More of David and Marques! Dynamic duo
Recently Anurag Salgaonkar (a motorbike vlogger in India) spotted a person using his LG Wing mounted on his bike watching a cricket match on the top screen and having his maps on the bottom. Not the best thing to do in traffic, but hey, it is versatile!
I only disagree with the Surface duo's position. Today these devices are expensive as hell because many people want to buy them. Sure it's a specific niche, but the Surface duo is the perfect device for Nintendo DS, 2DS and 3DS emulation. It is also a spectacular device for reading ebooks.
I used this as a ereader/portable media player even though I was no longer using it as a phone. I guess it stopped getting use when I got my tab s9 though but I still dont plan on getting rid of it as its good hardware
I absolutely loved my Lumia 1020. With the Lumia Pro Camera app, they were doing Google Best Take in 2013. The phone would take multiple pictures and let you choose which face was best for each user individually. Such an underrated feature I miss every time I take pictures.
I had the Wing and loved it, because I would watch videos in portrait up top while using the bottom screen for messaging or scrolling my socials.
Is it just me, or does it sound like there's a slight chorus effect on David's voice? Kind of like it's being picked up by 2 mics at once.
It's either that or his voice seems to be bouncing off the walls and not going directly into the mic, if that makes sense.
yeah it does sound weird
Lg need to be back in phone business
im so glad you guys appreciate the essential phone. i feel like it got a lot of hate back then, but i had one and it was like really usable after they fixed the software issues. total s tier phone.
Please make part 2 of it, it was very interesting concept..
"Why Did They Kill These Phones??"
the internet: BECAUSE YOU MADE A REVIEW ON THEM!!
its so sad LG had to pull out of the smartphone game. They were truly innovative. I guess it doesn't pay to be creative these days.
I love LG phones ..I had the LG G4 which was the only phone that was made for audiophiles
Awe man, need to do a part 2 of this and do the Palm phones! (Palm pre, Palm pixie). I remember walking over to the nearby mall to check out a live demo of one of those phones in a phone store (I think at&t). I was just fascinated by how many tabs (I think they called them cards) I could have open because I wanna say it was one of the first phones where you could have like 50-60 different background tasks open and just keep swiping through them and it never slow down your device
Loved this one!
As someone who works for a bank, you people who put wallets in your phone and then lose them are absolutely the dumbest and worst type of customer.
Oh come on guys, the original Surface Duo has had two major OS updates since you looked at it. And you don’t seem to have applied either to your test phone. It works superbly now.
Priv was awesome. My wife talked me into it. She was huge physical kb fan. She was using her BB Passport up until 2022.
Too bad the priv wasn't working, one of the coolest features was the phone display while in its priv case holder. The front flap that covered the screen had a small square cutout that, when closed, showed your mssging,, email and other alerts.
I was hoping to see the HTC M8 ! Such a good phone. Awesome video
Is it just me or the audio of this video sounds off
Yeah there’s a lot of reverberation and the low sounds kind of loud and muddy
Agree with everything except Nextbit Robin. They probably forgot how bad it was when it came out, the build quality, hardware, slow aps ... D tier
That was fun! Enjoyed the vid!
got the Essential used for cheap in great condition. Still one of my fav phones ever. so well constructed
I had so many of these 😂😭 the Nextbit, lumi, priv.. man I miss that keyboard!
i love their friendship
and this video
Neat.
Song used at the end segment around 16:30 is super distracting though. Don't know if the audio mix was off or what but that synth pad really pulled me out of it. I had to stop just to type this comment.
I like the idea of the LG Wing. For a horizontal viewing experience, it would be easier to hold onto comfortably since the bottom is like a normal phone in the certical orientation.
Video Games might also be a better experience as all the controls could be on the bottom screen, making it so that your hands aren't blocking the content on the screen like it would on a normal phone.
I love the Priv and the Wing, a friend of mine bought a Wing and it's so unique lol. one of his screens is slightly cracked tho lol
Owned all of these except the Aquos, Flexpai and Hydrogen phone. Essential was for sure my fav and I still use it as a backup phone today (running LineageOS). Wing, Lumia 1020 and Priv were all pretty cool for their time. Wing is actually quite nice to use as a video device.
Would love to see another episode of this! BlackBerry storm, Motorola droid, palm pre, HTC One!
Me and my mom had the essential phone because it was the free option at sprint. On top of being unsupported by cases and screen shields, it also started having major bugs and failures only 1 & 1/2 years in. The S9 I bought after ran for 3 years, my mom kept it for 5, and even after replacing my main phone I've kept it as a wifi device used heavily. No problems besides inevitable battery decay.
