- NVIDIA is launching another, more expensive variant of the Ampere GA102 GPU: the RTX 3080 Ti. It's fast, but kind of loud, and with a $1200 starting price tag you'd better have deep pockets if you want one.

CORRECTION: clock speeds chart at 3:09 has the colors flipped in the legend -- dark blue (bottom) is base clock, then boost, then max, then lightest blue (top) is average clock speed. 😅
Thanks for watching everyone!! 🙏🙏🙏
Ok, Paul.
Thank you for skipping MSRP's.
Wtf every gpu nowadays are for rich people !
Yo paul. If you consider yourself his friend. You got to tell him about his hair man. I know he'll probably just say you're jealous. Lol But you just got to ignore it. When he lashes out. If you wish to help him.
Ryzen power plans aren’t a thing as of 5000 series right? I know I didn’t get them with my drivers.
You didn't have to attack my poverty like that Paul. Rude! 😒😔
I dont think he was attacking you.... heavy sarcasm towards Nvidia is what it seemed more like.
@@Lionsidiot Woosh
like dave chapelle would say "I'm rich beeotch."
Love that intro, told my butler about it and he laughed lol
Lol nice one
"Ha ha, sir. Yes, quite amusing."
@@ericromano8078 Quite...

My cleaning lady was flustered lol
I told my butler he was fired as I wanted to be able to afford a new GPU 😂😂
“Your earthy musk is kind of off-putting for my more affluent viewers anyway.”
“Excellent!”
That would be me ... the Earthy one I mean.. .😒
I do enjoy flossing my ass.
Yeah, I can smell the earthy musk he's talking about. ...Oh wait a minute
"earthy musk"
*sad SpaceX noises*
First minute of this video was straight up roast i wasn't expecting to hear.
I had a good laugh!
Pauls been letting his humor come out and play a lot more. I love it.
IKR?! If you have the money it doesn't mean you want to be fleeced anyhow.
We would be seeing a lot of these cards at Chateau de Versailles' hall of GPUs.
Its a 3090 for $300 less performance wise what is the damn issue, if you cannot afford it then maybe computers are too expensive for you and you should settle using a Raspberry Pi 4 for $40.............Hnestly if you cannot afford it on a salary of 30-40k a year then you have issues and they have nothing to do with pricing of the parts, but its a YOU PROBLEM. Also that isn't that expensive at all for a top end GPU, as stated if you think it is perhaps you should find another hobby and stop whining about it.
Maybe Paul could contact his affluent friend at Bitwit, for Bitwit has been giving away a lot of money lately. Maybe Paul could ask his friend to give away some of these cards randomly to the lower level Earthy people.
@@nocturnal101ravenous6 you get 30-40K a year, oh my god, you're lucky. Where I live best yearly wage is about 15-20K.
My mate just got one an hour ago
@@midknight2K national average, and those wages are pure shit, that has to be part time I suggest improving your situation.
Paul has it on the nose, nobody is going to be able to get one of these without getting sniped by bots or scalpers
It might reach a point where someone ACTUALLY gets sniped for one of these. Looking at you microcenter. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet.
Only pay 2x msrp instead of 4x msrp? What a bargain!
Why? it has much less value to them at this point, the whole scalping scene relied on not gamers but Miners buying the cards Crypto is down, Hash rates are limited and as long as NVidia doesn't pull a stupid releasing beta drivers without the limiter then it should be good to go, Scalpers won't have half the market meaning they cannot gouge nearly as much making it not worth the time.
The monment Gamers started Mining and buying scalped cards the dumb dumbs contributed to the problem.
If Best Buy does what they said and keep them offline and in stores only, you may have a chance.
I was one of the few lucky individuals who managed to get one on launch day. 2 friends and I camped outside best buy for their in-store launch. Great experience and I hope this shortage ends soon and cards become more available. Good luck all!
Remember when the 1080ti released at a $699 MSRP? Even with the FE premium, these cards should NOT be costing this much.
I also remember when the 1080 ti was selling for over $1000 in 2018 (due to another mining boom?). I'm sure Nvidia was kicking itself for not charging more back then. This time Nvidia "don't get fooled again".
FE was never a premium. AiBs are the premium. many of them going stupid into $300+ over the FE standard. And I highly doubt they put $300+ worth of components on the PCB to warrant it. You just pay for the cheesy name they put on the box.
@@SuperLotus yup! was just about to reply that i got my 1080TI for a lil over a thousand bux because of the stupid mining boom and i thought i was lucky at the time B^P
@@HydratedBeans prices won't decrease. As soon as people pay the elevated prices, which they have, then companies have the incentive to keep prices high, regardless of supply.
@@HydratedBeans the 2000 series took about a 45% sales hit and was a pretty bad release for Nvidia. They responded. However that was then and this is now. People have shown a willingness to pay substantially elevated prices. Thus they will continue.
Hey now, I'm rich....with student loan debt. 🤣
I'm rich ... in experience ...
You leave my earthy musk out of this!
Glad to see you back into the reviews Paul, even if it is for THIS.
Retailers in Australia selling these for the equivalent of $USD 2500. So... Not just secondary markets
I can afford the 3080Ti. I'm not even attempting to get it. It's just a poor price to performance card. $1200 for 12GB VRAM? I'll stick with my 1080ti until/if the market normalizes and we get competitive performance again.
1080TI was the best component-purchase I ever made.
@@erikhendrickson59 I wish I bought 2-3 of them back in 2018.
I kick myself for not paying for the upgrade back then.
Same. EVGA OC 1080ti is too good and I don't need to replace it
I scored a 1080 for $175 about 6 months back. At that price to performance I should pay about $399 for 3080 and $499 for 3080 ti. No? No one likes that deal? Guess I'll stick to my 1080.
I watched this video seated in my genuine leather recliner while sipping sherry from my crystal sniffer. Then I ordered all 3. Why not. They look expensive.
Sherry? Isn't that what the proletariat is drinking?
Well, there's your problem: You're a crystal sniffer.
Pretty sure genuine leather is low quality leather. I sip my sherry while sitting in my Full Grain Leather Recliner 😉
@@possibilityspace ... Or a nice Ardbeg 1975!
Wow 8 reviews from my favourite tech youtubers all at the same time 😁
Paul's the first I'll watch though 🌟
Well-placed sarcasm! I remember buying a Voodoo Monster II as a high school student, the top of the top at the time, replaced it with the Voodoo 3 when that came out, using half of my part-time job money of one month, give or take. Now, I have a full-time job that requires a Masters degree and I cannot afford it, I would have to dig into savings. Nope!
Yep, top of the range used to be $300, with inflation today, +-$500, sickening.
There's more people gaming on PC today. Demand is higher.
Not really. They've been at least $500-650 for the past 10 years. GTX 690 was $650 and that was close to 10 years ago. Gaming is more popular now so there are people that can afford to pay more for top tier performance. It sucks, but it is what it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The other thing is that it costs more to manufacture cards so low end cards aren't as profitable. Hopefully APUs will be strong enough to satisfy the low end market in the future.
Always my first stop when new reviews come out! Thanks for the video Paul!
Paul having the classical music playing for all the “rich viewers” is something I never knew I needed lol
Thanks for making this video, Paul - I liked the intro. :-) Yours is the first (and only) 3080Ti video I'm going to watch: The current GPU market is such a frustrating mess that I only need to see one video about it.
Great vid! You’re the only reviewer to mention fan noise as a drawback to the smaller cooler size for almost 3090 like performance. Always keeping it real
My first and only stop for the 3080ti review, I just don't care.
Paul, so sorry you've caught affluenza. So glad you're recovering! Stay safe out there!
How the hell am I not subbed to you and I've been watching your stuff for years?!? Subbed!
Thanks for taking the time to run the numbers. And also for the sarcasm over the obnoxious price. If I was in the market I would be looking for a better cooling solution than the FE card, that fan noise is crazy. I can see a double sided water cooling setup would be ideal to keep the 3080 and above cards cool enough for even the most demanding games.
As someone casually looking for a new video card to help with content creation, I'm started to become discouraged.
Why CC means you have another revenue stream and to make money you need to put money into it, you don't start out with top end equipment you raise your channel until you can afford that $400 Shure microphone, you have it ass backwards, even then tools that can make you money are always more expensive.
i feel you bro.. my computer needs update since 12 month already and i cant get anything to update at all. sigh.. there are moments when i want chinese doing own pc-hardware already..
Like @jeremiah singularo I've been putting money away for about a year for a new PC. There are thousands of us, maybe millions, who are in this waiting game for a reasonably priced GPU, but with MSRP prices literally doubling since December 2019 for high-end GPUs, they can keep their damn hardware.
Bearing in mind the scapler prices, depending on what you intend to do, a Quadro may be the best bet... not as good at gaming, but it might do for your workload, and the prices don't seem inflated (they are already expensive, but not scalped)
Welcome to the club, ive been waiting about a year for a gpu upgrade.
Paul seems like he's having more fun these days and I've really been enjoying his new content.
It's all the sex he's been getting
He's been getting out of the uninspired rut he's been in for a long while quite nicely, I like seeing Paul get motivated.
Very awesome indepth comparisons between the perfect selection!
The tone of your last few videos has been really creative and hilarious. keep it up.
I still feel lucky that I got a 3070 from EVGA back in March, I had signed up in November 2020 and had forgotten about it.
And I really wanted a 3080, but just took what I could get!
Thank you for including non FPS games in testing, some of us do like flying and driving more than shooting but still like to paint houses occasionally, virtually that is.
The intro into this video reminds me of an art shop that I went to couple days ago. When I was in the shop, I inquired about spirit based markers for my past time. I was told that cheapest ones are for 180 Eur (pack of 36 ) and they have not cheaper ones.
Great vid paul.was waiting for info on 3080ti.thanks
Darling, have the butler add truffle shavings to your 3080Ti. We are not barbarians!
Spent my 1200 on a new road bike. I'm done with this bs. moving on from pc gaming for well at least 3 days. Great video there sir by the way!
Bye!
Nice job as always! I would have really like to see a 6800 XT thrown into these benchmarks.
I love your channel, man!!. Great job. I just want the 3080.
the start had me like: :(
also paul you should consider opening a pie shop
Great idea, I would much prefer a 3080 Pie
Damnit its 1am and now I want pie.... cant play video games after all. 💩
Great review Paul! While I could afford the secondary market price of any of these cards, there is no way I would even pay MSRP if that was an option. The idea of paying more than $500 for a video card for gaming is ludicrous to me. I'm not saying its wrong for anyone else just for myself.
Love the intro, that was savage! But very true with the current market.
That was the single greatest opening of any tech content video I've seen since 2019.
Everyone: Is this a joke?
Linus: EVERYONE NEEDS TO BUY THIS!
nvidia owns LMG, not surprising to be honest
Dude Linus is shady AF...although he has some good content, like the secret shopper stuff, the dude is into some weird shit...probably another bastard Rothschild 😂

@@omin linus mining group? Jk.
The video was done before the livestream, GN slammed this hard due to the price. Paul seems to be more balanced overall
"Welcome to any of you guys who jumped to this point in the video"
I am caught.
Anyway, you and Steve have your intro game absolutely on point for this launch. Gold star to both.
that intro is so true! only people with big and deep pockets can buy them in this current shortage. hopefully things will change in the next few months.
Thanks for that intro! When NVIDIA comes with so much crap, we can count on you to keep them in check.
But... in the Clock Speeds chart (3m10s) caption, I think that the lightest blue should've been "Avg Clock", then a tad darker "Max", followed by "Boost" and the darkest one "Base".
Damn, someone knows where I can get 1 in stock?
My grandma asked me for one because she says her computer runs Tetris at 1 FPS

Its not available in the games you play.....
Oh but that's where you are increasingly by the day incorrect.

Blatant driver games being played. The long game he would rather you upgrade sooner because chess move 4k in that new AAA title 12 isnt enough. 3090 owners can skip out on having to upgrade.

@@paulshardware It is the smell you get when you wring out a shirt of someone who's stood in line all weekend at a Micro center, only to find out they were 11th in line when only 10 units were available.
Thank you for including racing SIMs in your benchmarks.
Dirt 5 is not a sim, more a mid paced arcade racer, but a very enjoyable one at that.
Rich people only indeed. All these cards retail for over $3000 in Australia. I would choose the one with lowest power consumption. Good review. Subscribed.
GDDR6X heat is a big issue. My 3080 memory was hitting 108C as well. Took apart the whole thing, replaced all the thermal pads, and added pads to the metal backplate to act as another heat sink. Now it maxes out around 90C. Big difference!
Thank you for benching MSFS a very welcome review. Tbh I think a lot of the reviews have been a bit harsh on the 3080Ti.
Yes Nvidia have gone on a bit of a cash grab, but the 3080Ti is the card I have been waiting for. If Nvidia had not gimped the 3080 with 10GB of ram and it was available it may have been more of a viable choice. But playing at 4K and wanting the power of the 3090 but not wanting to pay the 3090 price the 3080Ti is currently the logical purchase, if I can get one.
My 2080Ti is at its limit playing and recording VR at 4K, if I did not need the extra boost I would stick with it in the current situation.
I loved the review. Thank you for your insight.
What a brilliant intro! 👍
Paul: these are only for the rich
Scalper: no Paul, these will make me rich
The rich getting richer
Rich people dont buy GPU's at this price, thats why they are rich, they wait and see
Except most of their kids.
Enjoy watching Paul since the Newegg days. The sad part for me know is Yes I can pony up the price but I am not going to . Would enjoy video cards in the 2 to 300 range remember them. Hang in there Paul.
Thanks for putting Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 among your benchmarks scores. I and my flying fans love this. Would be sweet to put Hp Reverb G2 bechmark scores on it too because we all fly in VR
*1 minute in, I'll see my broke ass out lmao*
*sobs in older graphics cards from a simpler time when top of the line were only 3 figures.*
That intro is class sir. Tip of the hat lol
The times have definitely changed since back when we first heard news about the 3080 founders edition and we all were worried if the GEFORCE RTX Logo would light up or not from the released photos, much simpler times back then.
Never thought of myself as poor until now. Great honest review of entirely no value to me (thanks to Nvidia) as you simply cant buy FE cards in the UK anyway (not your fault of course)
Nvidia should just change its slogan to "The Way It's Meant To Be Mined"
I happen to have a 3080Ti and I feel called out. It's the only upgrade I've made since buying a second-hand 980Ti.
Thanks for adding MSFS to your benchmarks! It's the only "game" I am interested in.
Well, I guess I'm staying with my 1080ti for another generation.
I am sticking with my gtx760, with one working fan, for another generation I guess. Can't even get a 1080ti now as they are going for 1000$.
It makes me sad having my pc parts collect dust for 5 months now because i can't afford a cpu or gpu :(
Don't be, it gets worse. By the time you get your parts, it will long be outdated
Get a CPU with iGPU or your PC will get old before using it for the first time
Your fault for building a PC when you didn't have all the parts.
@@greg2943 i have about 500 but the pandemic really fucked me and had to prioritize other things as well as there's just no available new parts
CPU stock at least is back to normal
Great video as always, crappy availability and pricing for video cards...as always.
Thanks for the info, not that it matters much anymore.
Cheerz!!
That intro, so great. :D
How did he know about my earthy musk?
Get real Paul. We all know you love that earthy musk.
The fact this card doesn't even have a 3090 cooler on it, despite being $1200, is ridiculous. The QC on these cards seems VERY poor -- the memory temps I've seen various reviews ranges from 90c up to (here) 108c....
Why try when you can do nothing extra and still raise prices a few hundred bucks for good measure :)
And thats 108°c on a open bench!!!
Thank you for including MSFS2020 in your game comps, as it's the only high-end game I currently play. I assume the 4K numbers are closest to FPS in VR with the HP Reverb G2, and am pleased with the performance of the 3080Ti on that test vs either 3080 or 3090 cards. The 6900xt is moot since all of the Radeon cards fail to play nicely with VR, and especially with MSFS. I have a non-XT 6800, but for all its power, Radeon drivers keep crashing the game. Either that or it's the power limiters on Radeon cards. Either way, I need a 3080 or better Nvidea card to solve my CTD issues.
One more thing: My benchmarks show that Paul is a whopping 37% funnier than JayzTwoCents!
10:18 Does the 3080TI have White LED Strip in the middle of the card at the "X"? It looks like it from this portion of the video.
Yeah. The fun disdain mockingly displayed at the beginning of the video seems to be the genuine market approach of Nvidia.
Ah yes, more fantasy product reviews.
It looks to me that the charts are being listed in order of performance. I don't know how other people feel about this, but I find that means I have to keep looking to see where the card I'm interested in places - for example, if I'm interested in the performance of the 6900 XT vs the 3080 Ti, I have to keep looking over to the legend on the left to figure out where they are, and then read the results. If they were in a consistent order (for example, 3090 -> 3080 Ti -> 3080 -> 6900 XT), I find it would be a lot easier to read the results. It should also be faster and easier to get the results put up, since you'd be pasting them in the same order every time! :)
Thanks for the videos regardless of the world situation - sometimes reviews are still useful some time down the line when people have the ability to finally buy the card!
The intro for this one is perfection!
Thanks for your review Paul, but we both know it's completely useless since these cards are just a myth. Nobody will actually be able to buy them...
According to Nvidia.... It's not a T I
It's a TIE. Don't mix them up, please.
CZcams stopped promoting your videos. I used to get notifications about your stuff before but don’t really anymore. So I am posting this comment to boost your standing in the CZcams algorithm
I actually bought the Gigabyte version of this card and just installed it, and I got it for a couple of reasons:
One was I wanted to "future-proof" my new build as much as possible, I was upgrading from a computer with a Threadripper 1900x and an EVGA GTX 980ti, and that build still handle most games at top settings (despite not being able to do ray tracing). I do digital painting and some video editing so I wanted something a little beefy on top of the gaming potential.
Two, I looked for a 3080 and at the time it was just not very available or was priced at around the same or more than the card I did end up getting, I figured I'm going to get screwed on GPU price no matter what and I had some money to invest so I went with the ti, that ended up costing about $2000 just for the card after taxes and shipping. I did look at the 3090, but it was going for around $3000 for something that didn't offer much in the way of performance, I know that's the same story with the price per performance points on the 3080 vs the 3080ti but with everything else I was getting I didn't want to spend $3000 on a graphics card. The point is moot, but thankfully I have gotten some raises at my job lately so the cost wasn't awful for me, if it were a couple of years ago I would fret over it more (I am not rich by any measure, but I'm doing better than I was), I still put the GPU on a credit card though.
In the end I walked away with a Ryzen 9 5900x on a ROG Strix X570-E, a GIGABYTE Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, and I got a new 1TB Samsung Samsung 980 PRO 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen4 Internal Gaming SSD M.2 for my boot drive, and a Seagate IronWolf Pro 6TB NAS Hard Drive for extra game storage. Total price was a little over $3200.
I don't regret the money right now, if I was at another time in my life then I might think twice, but I saved where I could and spread the payments for the GPU out to manage the dent on my savings a bit smoother. Still, I would love it if the price of GPUs would come down, and lowering the base MSRP to something that reflects the performance when compared to other cards would be a start.
How's the build going. Almost exactly the build I am looking to do.
Same CPU, a motherboard and NVME. Going to put into a Corsair 4000X Case.
Just need to make a short list of 1080TI's that are decent or that can go with the icue setup.
Hope it all went well. Let me know 👍
Does anyone else feel like this reinforces the idea that AMD are superior in terms of value vs performance...?
Paul, i missed your garage and home upgrade videos, at a time where hardware is hard to get maybe its a good time u venture into something else? hehe :)
First 3080Ti review I watched. good info, Paul. TY
Dang savage intro!
I loved the intro than I realized you meant me 😞I could still dream MSRP was a real thing!
You meant 1900Mhz for Infinity fabric and memory i think, Paul?
ps. Any chance of 'getting back together' with Kyle? Or maybe just a colab once in a while?
Don't get me wrong, i like both of you and your work in their own right... But you two together was also GOLD!
The fan speed is probably due to the card compensating for the overheating VRAM. My 3090FE did the same thing when the core was at 68C.
Thank you for including 1440p Paul.
Loved the intro ahah
I love your t-ubes. But I have a problem. I am trying to update a MSI Tomahka b450 max amd am locked as the bios flash states that says it says that it does not see the 2 different USB thumb drive. Bitwit makes it seem easy but I can not update the bios . any help would be greatly appreciated.
Excellent intro!
I like the little music :P
THANK YOU for testing resident evil village, can you tell me how performance is if you turn the resolution scale up high enough to need the 16gb on the 6900xt so its between it and the 3090? This game is an absolute HOG for VRAM, i have to restart every few hours because my settings are right on the verge of paging to system memory for additional VRAM on my 2080ti, and I keep running out lol. With settings how they are I rarely hit random framedrops of 60-30fps (steady at either 60 or 30) which goes away when I leave that location, but otherwise I average like 120fps on my 2080ti. Would have been nice to see at least one last gen card included in the graphs for comparison as well lol but I get you gotta have a life as well man
I just got myself and Rog 3070 un-open box but wanted a 3080 instead. lucky I havent open the box yet because I want to try my luck next week for the 3070 ti.
Was able to grab one on launch day for msrp I am glad I was able to get a gpu
I'm glad at least all of the pc channels are being realistic about the gpu situation and being transparent about their own opinions towards the decisions these companies are making. That's why we're still watching. We appreciate the content despite things outside of your control very much effecting what you do for a living. Especially you bud.
idk, seems like Linus is a little more nvidia fanboy and still hyping up this card. Linus is basically saying hey this card is cheaper than the 3090 but almost as powerful! Steve and Paul have better reviews. Jayz just changed the title of his 3080 ti video to be more aggressive, because people realize Steve was the most realistically aggressively pessimistic reviewer.
Bold title Paul, I love it.
You got cojones my man.
What would you recommend for mining setting up 3080ti OC settings?
What are you testing these cards in? I've got a 6900XT Reference stuffed in an NR200 and it barely cracks 70 on warm days, nvm 80....
Loved the intro
