  • Is this the new Gaming KING? I'm reviewing the RTX 3080 Ti and comparing it to the RTX 3080 & 3090 at 1440p and 4K. But is the £1,045 / $1,199 price tag worth paying?

    Answering the question “WHY?”
    1. It’s to expensive for Jason to sell 3090. It’s better to divide 3090 for 2 (two) 3080Tie and sell twice more.
    2. Nvidia closes 3090 production.

    • @joemarais7683
      @joemarais7683 Před 3 lety +5

      Actually, both 3080s and 3080ti are similar defective dies, so they'll stop making 3080s since they're not 1200 bucks and only 3080ti and 3090s until AMD learns how to make more than one 6800xt a week.

    • @Hibernial
      @Hibernial Před 2 lety

      @@joemarais7683 The 3080ti is that compromise of Nvidea wanting the higher price point on return for costs while having something to stock shelves against the 6800xt huh? Makes sense. There’s gonna be neck and neck competition even amidst shortages caused by the past year of recession. So jumping into reinforcing a bottom line early on makes sense with how the future of shipping and production is still uncertain, well before the next generation of cards comes out which scalpers and miners will rush to first. At a head start they’ll only really be able to pitch to their closer to higher buying end consumers though: When considering that, compared to the 3090, hey alright. The ti isn’t looking bad even considering just the matter of the size difference. Compared to the original 3080, that’s probably to replace availability for future sales for specs that will age better.

    There are still outstanding preorders for launch day 3080s. Look at the queue trackers and basically no movement since Christmas. The silicone in the Ti cards is identical to the existing 80/90 cards. If Nvidia cared about gamers at all, these slightly lower binned versions would be clearing backorders.

    I paid a couple of hundred over RRP for my 3090 Fe. At the same time 3080 fe were going for almost the same price because of their demand. Now 3080s are going for much more than I got my 3090 for, which means the 3080Ti will go for even more. For longevity the 3090 is better because of the amount of VRAM it has. I think although I paid so much for my 3090, I got a good deal compared.

    I've been trying to buy a RTX 3080 for the last eight months here in the UK but even if I could find one then there's no way I would be paying the MSRP of £649 which is depressing. The 3080 Ti is overprice in my opinion as was the RTX 2080 Ti. I paid £700 for my GTX 1080 Ti four years ago at a time when the Titan cost £1,000 so the price has ramped up significiantly with the addition of ray-tracing.
    The 3080 Ti makes the 3080 look like a steal at the MSRP though... it's just a shame that it is near impossible to buy one. Heck, you cannot even pre-order one which makes the whole buying process frustrating. If you could order one then wait in a queue then at least that is better than constantly checking websites for eight months only to see products still listed as Coming Soon or Out of Stock.

    I got a 3080ti at msrp and it’s the best card I’ve ever had. I’ve never been able to just open every single game and max out all settings. I’ve always had to fiddle around with different settings to find an FPS sweet spot but now I never have to do that! I highly recommend buying it right now if you have the money. The 40 series will be bought out by bots and once that happens the bots will go back to sniping the previous gen 30 series. Just like what happened with the 20 series as the previous gen to the 30 series.

      I'm a VR enthusiast. It's nuts to see the fits people throw over what a Valve Index costs while the majority of this GPU madness right now is for 1440p and better desktop gaming. Which, as you pointed out, requires a monitor that will rival or surpass the GPU cost. So literally the cost to gonton1440p or higher is thousands of dollars. Ultra setting high refresh 1080p is cheaper than ever for people with sense and average wealth.

    3080ti is perfect if you can find it for a good price. The difference in prices between 3080ti and 3090 in my country is extreme so 3090 was in my case out of the question. 3080 is not good enough for work because it has only 10GB of VRAM. I bought Evga xc3 3080ti and in Blender it is literally as powerful as having 3.246753 GTX 1080TIs in my system. It is cooler than 2080ti Strix when rendering with OPTIX, it is WAY quieter when gaming. No terrible coil whine either. Do not avoid. Great card for work/gaming if you can find it for a good price.

      The 3080 Ti IS a better card than the 3080 in terms of raw performance. If they cost the same, buy the Ti. You get more CUDA cores, more VRAM, and higher memory bandwidth. Hm... actually the more of these videos I watch, I feel Nvidia's real mistake was the original MSRP of the 3080. If they had set the 3080 on the usual inflation trajectory and compared it against the performance gains vs opening prices of the 1080, 2080 etc, it might have been a higher starting price, but would have set more realistic expectations on who should be affording a xx80 series card. It would have also been easier to price the Ti at this new price.

      @moltenbullet Před 3 lety

      @@fVNzO i think you're misunderstanding my point. My point was that its only a $700 "increase" because of the unrealistic starting price of the 3080 - a starting price born of premature fear of losing out to AMD. The 3080 could have started out at $950 and still made sense over the outgoing 2080 in terms of price/performance. If it had, then the 3080Ti's asking price would only be a more acceptable $250 premium over the 3080.

    • @moltenbullet
      @moltenbullet Před 3 lety

      @@fVNzO Well, i would say rather, that a 3080 shouldn't be in the hands of a regular consumer. What need is there for the gamer market below the top 20th percentile to own the graphics power of a 3080? I don't quite care for whether we "award" them for worse price performance cards or not. A high-end car sucks for price/performance, but their goal is never to get that car to as many car enthusiasts as they can. Instead, they have other product lines to cater to that, with a more reasonable, more palatable price delivering performance that is acceptable to the average consumer.
      The 60 and 70 range covers the average consumer, as it should. Less 3080s at a higher cost would mean less demand and less supply lines dedicated to that card. That would mean more consumers get access to reasonable cards like the 3060 and 3070. The rich boys can keep playing with high end hardware that they can readily afford. That's how the world works.

    • @fVNzO
      @fVNzO Před 3 lety +1

      @@moltenbullet I do want to keep this civil and you are very well read and I do appreciate your opinions and respect your time sir. But, that is absolutely insane in my opinion. Fact if the matter is. The 3080 is not some extreme high end card. It is the worst dies of all GA102s. It's the bottom of the barrel bin. It is neither extremely powerful, in fact, it has an absurd power consumption, it's rather lackluster performance increase as compared to Kepler, maxwell and pascal. It is by every statistical measure and technical spec a bog standard consumer card. Nvidia may promote it as some endgame product but let me assure you, this is not true.
      You cannot compare graphics cards to other luxury goods such as cars, watches, food and drinks etc. Wafer manufacturing does not scale exponentially, their yields must be great nowadays. The 3090, the supposed, ultimate GPU is not even a top bin. You're paying for second and third rank silicon.
      You should not award Nvidia for releasing a Ti card that's twice the price of the one that came before it for no apparent reason. You should not award them for lackluster products and clever marketing ploys. You're doing yourself a disservice in the process. The 3070 is a mid tier, mid bin gpu. Nothing remotely impressive about it.
      So that is just my opinion. I certainly respect yours but I don't feel like you necessarily take into account wafer manufacturing, bins and especially previous architectures into account here.
