      Never understood the comments about Razer laptop's "good build quality". I've had nothing but QC issues that was replaced only to have motherboard die out 6 months later on my first and last Razer Blade. The Aluminum chassis is also nowhere near durable as Magnesium Alloy + Carbon material used on premium laptops from other brands.

    I, for one, really appreciate what Razer is doing here.
    You see, a laptop is much more than just performance at any cost. It includes the design, portability, battery life, noise levels and the overall experience to use.
    I personally don't need a hotbox that cooks itself to 100ºC, sounds like a jet taking off and weights like a brick. I much rather have a computer with high binned components, tuned in such a way that it performs relatively well, is silent and well cooled.
    But yeah, I agree the price hike is terrible.

  • @RyneLanders
    @RyneLanders Před 2 lety +66

    As a previous Razer Blade owner, I topped mine out with the highest of all options for around $2500. This one topping out over $4K is ridiculous. I will definitely be waiting for a big discount or looking for a near competitor next time.

      The Lenovo Legion lineup might be a near competitor you can look into. I bought a Legion 7 AMD RTX 3080 for $2300 from Lenovo's online website. Those are pretty high specs for half the price of what Razer is asking you to pay.

    • @RyneLanders
      @RyneLanders Před rokem

      @@SeemsLogical I appreciate the input, but I don't really see it as a competitor or viable alternative. The Lenovo has a very "gamery" aesthetic compared to the Razer Blade and its build quality isn't even in the same ballpark. You pay more for the Razer Blade for its impeccable build quality with aluminum unibody design, per-key RGB (first in the industry), better screens, better trackpad, vapor chamber cooling, etc. Plus, the Legion's just plain bigger, especially with the vents in the back. And the power brick is massive compared to the Blade's small one. The reason the Legion and others are so much cheaper is because they cut corners on build quality and components to maximize the CPU and GPU. And that's fine if those are the most important thing for you and you usually use the laptop at a desk on an external monitor. But as a complete package, as an actual laptop, it's not a competition. I used my Blade all around the world. Took it to Europe, Asia, Egypt, even on safari in Africa. I could count on it and it was the perfect portable package.

    Disappointing to see to price increase this much despite the performance being so underwhelming. I love the razer design, build quality, and performance but at the price point of $3700 - $4000 I don't see any justification for the average power user when there's already a lot of great options that are still sleek and allow for more thermal/power headroom.
    I'm looking forward to seeing this compete again the ROG Zephyrus M16 with the same 3080Ti spec since the GPU in the Zephyrus has a little bit higher TDP.

    This is where a single vendor has been a general misstep for companies for a while and a perfect example. By only using Intel with the exception of last years Razer 14, they got stuck with a situation where their goals don't match what their primary partner is supplying. Alderlake is the perf king this gen. But while they have been pushing for that perf crown. AMD has been designing their cores for huge core counts under limited power per core settings and their apu's to sip power. To the Point that AMD's laptop silicon tops out at about 45-50w, itll take more power, but its clocks won't go up. What this means is sure in a unlimited setting Alderlake might be better, in a manageable power level in a normal size chassis, its probably better. But it loses a lot in systems like this, you have heavy battery hit and marginal preloads benefits.
    If they had been designing these systems for both systems. They have the option to offer this system with AMD CPU and get better portability results and better gaming perf.

    Thank you for the video, I really though I was going to get the 3080ti i9 version but after seeing the gaming and editing benchmarks my opinion has been heavily swayed to stay away from the 3080ti. Considering they want like an extra $1000, I have to say that it's really not worth it, even if you have the spare money, what's the point lol.

    While it seems pretty sweet, I picked up an ex display RTX 3080 Zephyrus G15 for £1800 which consistently runs the 3080 at 100W on turbo, while the base 3060 model Blade costs £2800 in the UK. I'm pretty happy with my decision.

    I don't get the consternation about the performance. Your own benchmarks show the new Blade 15 consistently outperforming the 120W Strix G15, trading blows with the 150W Legion 7i, especially at 1440p, and staying within a stone's throw of the 150W Raider. That's impressive for a system with a 90W GPU.

    The biggest drawback for me currently is the thermals coming off the CPU, thing throttles down because it is constantly peaking at 100 C. I was afraid I got a bad application of thermal paste, but I have heard all the CPUs on the 15 and 17 run hot. Can anyone else confirm this?

    I have the Razer Blade 15 (Late 2020) model. I don't remember if it was advanced or base. I upgraded my ram and my ssd and added a 2nd ssd. Yesterday I tried to pull the fans out before noticing the replacement ones I ordered were the wrong ones. When I put it back together the speakers had no sound just went tick on the right speaker. tick tick tick... I was devastated until I realized one of the fan screws pinched the speaker wire and shorted it out. I was able to fix it with electrical tape and now it works again but the fans still run faster then the flash when hes time traveling because the fans are somewhat dirty still. I got 98% of the dirt out but its a bit sticky :(
    So now I am looking at getting a new one sometime this year and love seeing videos on the newer models. Mine is still using a 1660 TI and thats not that great anymore lol Cant wait to get a better one its been 4 years I have been using this thing and its def taken a beating.

I might look next year (that 16gb ram cap is kneecapping some of my vmware labs I like to do) but sounds like the intel chip isn't such a big jump this year that it would justify switching machines

    @hardwareCanucks this laptop with QHD+ 144hz, 3080Ti,32GB and 1TB is on sale for 1900CAD, as you may recall this SKU used to be 4500CAD not too long ago. Would you recommend the SKU I mentioned for 1900CAD? I mean I can't find a decent 4060 for the same money. I noticed in your benchmarks it was between full fledged 3070 and 3080 variants, so it is somewhere around 4070 performance. Thoughts?

    Hey team great review, though $$ are what they are due to the markets. I just received my 2022 Blade 15. TGP is 110w max same Blade 15 version you have with 4k, not sure the difference of yours. In my opinion, still low and struggles where it shouldn't given it's a 3080ti, but it's not 80w.

    Its an important reminder about power wattage/laptop size (ie energy consumption) and therefore in certain cases a 3070 ti is effectively as good if not better because of massive price difference than 3080/ ti. Cheers.

    I'm one of the lucky guys who call the Razer Blade 15 2022 his own.
    As an engineer, I got to admit, Razer did an amazing job this time.
    I put liquid metal on top of the gpu/cpu and managed to reduce the temps up to 15 degrees less!
    I also installed a FireCuda 530 plus the stock M.2 SSD to have some more storage.
    Attention, the FireCuda 530 (double-sided) does not fit in the Razer Blade 15 2022 and needs some custom mounting.
    The noise level is also quite comfortable and in production you rarely notice it even under heavier load.
    Battery life is almost not existing if on 240Hz refresh!
    I have the 12800H + 3080 TI. I don't recommend the 12900H(K), 4K model!
    Also, get a cooling pad to help prevent battery bloat and check the battery regularly just like the breaks of your car!

    I just put my old 13 inch razer blade on the shelf and picked ut the blade 15 3070ti. Can i ask how you got 7 hours, it dranis the battery super fast just surfing. I bought it since i do mainly daily tasks at it like talking to clients, office etc but also a fair amount of photoshop. I was hoping for atleast some battery time but now even with screen at 60% and only internal grafics i cant get much more than 2 hours. I still have the option of retuning it but i would much rather make it work.
    any advice would be greatly aprechiated.

    • @heat2277
      @heat2277 Před 2 lety +2

      Hey there, so how channels like HC do battery tests don't reflect actual real life battery drain. It's just for comparison between different devices they benchmark! However, I myself have owned a blade 15, I was able to get about 2hrs-3hrs of battery life by dropping to the lowest brightness option,rgb off, battery saver on and 60hz. Im now running the alienware x17 r1, I have a 4k 120hz panel but I crank it down to 1440p or 1080p when unplugged to extend the battery life a bit. I turn the rgb off, quiet mode, battery saver, 1080p/1440p, 120hz, brightness on about 50% and I get about 3hrs - 3.5hrs. Intel gaming devices have horrible battery life, all generations of them. Only AMD and Mac have incredible battery life, it's something you'll have to get used to, at least for the near future! Hope this helped!
