      Me too! Had more Asus mobo's fail than Gigabyte or Asrock over a ten year period. I recently had a Gigabyte board fail on me. First time that ever happened. It was two years old. I built a cheap Debian server/NAS with a Asrock board that lasted 7 years and it was up 24/7 the whole time. I'm pretty sure a nasty power surge took it out, along with a laptop I had. I had three (all of them) Asus boards fail over the last ten years, they last about 16 months, that's it. I've never tried other manufactures boards so I'm not commenting on those. I build a lot of computers, I give them away to friends and family when I get something new.

      They dont learn ,because there are no consequences. Bare in mind that there are only few major OEMs on the market. All of them have done this. MSI was in the hot a few years ago for the same. Gigabite with thier exploding PSUs, physically braking GPUs and mobos (because they are supper thin) , ASUS (where do you want me to start).... Even Asrock was considered the botom of the barrel for most of thier existance. They finaly started making good stuff a few years ago.
      Think about it , when all OEMs are shit , what you are going to do? You need those stuff ,so you are going to buy it ether way. Thats why their appology is so vague.
      They know that the backlash will be there for a couple of weeks and the things will go back to "normal".

      That stick drift you're noticing is inconsequential. Stop looking at the calibration. Also, replacement sticks are like $8 and can be replaced in minutes. It literally uses the same joysticks as the Nintendo Switch. They're going to drift if you use it A LOT but likely won't ever affect your gameplay. It's only a problem if you've got OCD.

    It's worth pointing out that the RMA process is different in different parts of the world. Here in the UK they definitely could not get away with stuff like this. So yes the companies are doing the bare minimum in their local area, but there should be better consumer protection rights (or maybe better enforced?) in the US & Canada

    • @DodgyTodger
      @DodgyTodger Před 26 dny +8

      I don't have too much good to say about the EU, but they do some good work when it comes to consumer protection. You have a 2 year warranty with everything, even if the manufacturer gives a 1 year one. Even after 2 years you are likely to be entitled to redress if you bought something, particularly a high priced item, that has stopped working/broke long before it's expected lifespan.
      For example, let's say you buy a fancy LS tv without an "extended warranty", It comes with a 1 year warranty, it stops working after 2.5 years... you can claim against the retailer in the small claims court if they don't fix it. You will almost certainly win and the retailer will either be made fix it or give you a certain amount of money towards a new TV

    • @REgamesplayer
      @REgamesplayer Před 26 dny +6

      @@DodgyTodger You can't have your cake and eat it too. This is what you expect from EU.
      As for warranty, it is only covered if you are entitled to it. So, if it fails after 2,5 years. 2 years is basic warranty and then 1 extra from a producer. However, only select few manufacturers provide this warranty. Furthermore, consumer law will only side with you if you are entitled to warranty. Your post falsely appears that you can easily press for an item to be serviced out of warranty.

      Also, we should not need a EU super state bureaucracy to have basic consumer rights. You should not need the courts to be involved if your TV or Fridge breaks donw after 365 days.
      "Directive (EU) 2019/771
      When shopping in the EU, Norway, or Iceland, you are always entitled to a minimum 2-year guarantee at no cost, regardless of whether you buy the goods online, in a shop, or by mail order. The 2-year guarantee is your minimum right EU-wide"

But to my surprise, they replaced the motherboard free of charge and updated the BIOS. It's been working fine for 4 months now. Most of his talking points about LTT were wrong or already being addressed. He’s about to be proven absurdly wrong with EK because he took the word of a group of disgruntled employees and refuses to talk to any EK senior management about what really happened. I mean, unless you count him secretly show up to LVL UP Expo with the intent of trying to ambush EK into an “interview”. Which completely failed and he had to go home with his tail tucked. But he won’t even mention that he did that because it doesn’t play well into his intentions. I also heard that GN did go to LVL UP with the intent to try and ambush EK at their booth but EK decided to not attend the show because people might actually believe the unsubstantiated allegations Steve put out. In BOTH instances, Steve either did not take the time or flat out said he would not talk to any senior management at either company (ambush attempts aside). THAT is not true journalism. If he really didn't want to talk to anyone at EK until "this issue is taken care of" then he wouldn't have done that. That means he's only in it for the views. I also did some snooping on his channel and you can see his viewership taking a steady decline for the 12 months prior to his LTT video. Then all of a sudden he gets 2 million views in 1 day.
